New 2011 X5 owner hear. So far my best has been 26 MPG's. I do lots of freeway driving 80-85 mph so 26 mpg isn't too bad. I do have to get a new air filter so maybe it will get better. But honestly I'm a bit happy with the 26 for the size & capabilities of the X5.
Just bought one of these and I recently did a 4 hour trip. Going it said I got 25mpg doing 75mph and on the way back it said 24.5mpg doing 75-80mph. I didn't think to calculate it like you did though. Next time.
You are correct that this BMW uses two different sizes of turbochargers, but this is what is known as a "Sequential Twin-Turbo" engine. Twin-Turbo and Bi-Turbo are synonyms. That means the terms mean the exact same thing, just in case you were tryna figure that out.
@@Mordalo Ok big brain just because there’s 2 turbos doesn’t mean it’s twin turbo💀💀 Go rest your case somewhere else or just don’t comment when you don’t know what you’re talking about..
If you have a BMW X5, let me know what real-world fuel economy you are getting in your car!
Get a tune and delete. You will see way better mpg. Like in the 30s
in my 2016 35d, on a 500 mile trip, we get 33 mpg
26-27mpg if i keep it under 70mph
how?@@michaelbrooks9462
I got 8,5-9 in city with straight pipe, downpipe and cold air intake
You have to make sure that you have clean filters, air filters and fuel filters make a big difference in fuel efficiency, and proper tire inflation.

I have a 2010 X5d and consistently get right at 31mpg on the highway and 27mpg all around.
I’m close to buying a 2011 X5 d ☺️

2010 35d I get 18-23mpg city depending on the season. 27mpg express way, but @ a tad faster average 😁
Have an E91 that averages 21.9 mpg and am now in the market for an X5d, cant wait
What does it get going an actual freeway speed of 80MPH ?
Probably less. I do my tests at 70 MPH
Post 65 mph you get diminishing mpg
Great review!
Thank you Adrian!
Mine loves to calculate 24.2 all the time. I don’t trust the calculator
I am getting 23 maybe something wrong with my car
Really planned to delete
Not a twin turbo😂😂💀
Yes a twin turbo. All US Spec E70 X5 xDrive35d models were equipped with the M57Y Twin Turbo diesel engine.
@@CarDietrich Wrong, like I said they ain’t “twin turbo”😭 they’re Bi turbo (one high pressure turbo and one low pressure) stop tryna sound smart

@@arfetherussian Are there two turbos? Yes. I rest my case.
