Im personally a huge fan of the clash in the hook, but to each their own.

@@amari7782 You don't even have to watch MHA or know the character to like it. Scru just doesn't like contrast, not in hooks at least. He has a VERY specific taste when it comes to hooks and if one strays from that then it's a bad hook to him.

Normally I’m with you, but I gotta hard disagree about that hook.
The juxtaposition was perfect because it was like a crescendo from the planning, stalking, creeping villain to the villain that leaps out at you from out of nowhere and you know you’re fucked.
On a note I think we will agree on, you need to check out “Kolo” by RapKnight- infused it with the Nigerian 🇳🇬 culture to the fullest and it’s impossible not to love it’s sound.

He isn't looking at that obviously, he as an artist is looking at the consistency of the song and not even relate to the character. Because I assume he does not know about the character, for awhile Scru is looking at Nerdcore as music or as he says Mursic, which if not for the character its a song that would be seen and heard anywhere else. Basically universal music.

@@_.jbro._ Yeah I also loved Delta part of the hook and honestly if he was the only one on the hook it would had been amazing as well, but hearing the choir, DPS and Fabvl screaming got me hype after 2 to 3 listenings
Personally, I don’t mind the juxtaposition between Delta’s melody and DPS’s sudden intense screaming; it’s unique and sells Shigaraki’s messed up mental state quite well. My issue with that part is the 8x repetition of the same line “Can’t nobody do it like me!”
I just feel like DPS could have filled those lines with something else, even if it was just some minor tweaks in the way he phrased that line or something. Other than that, it was fire!
I think the thing to remember is Scru isn't looking for how well it fits the character, but if the it just sounds good as music. He has always been big that it doesn't really matter to him how well it fits the character if it doesn't sound good.
I was satisfied after 4 of 'em. That was a good spot to stop it in my opinion

I think the chorus was a strategic inclusion. It's meant to represent shigaraki in a way that does kinds make you question it as a "normal" chorus. To some people they don't really care and it's just not gonna hit their ears right, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that and it doesn't mean you have a bad taste in music. But me personally, I found it very fitting and I honestly liked it extremely compared to you. Love the music. And love the reactions :)
Agreed! One could even take it a bit further and consider the mass of voices to be a metaphor for the influence that All for One has in Shigaraki's life. ^^
Personally liked the clash in the hook, it fits the character well by emphasizing shigaraki’s instability and it takes the energy of the song to a different level for a bit. This isn’t a serenade it’s a monologue of gradually raising confidence untill it explodes in the hook.
Thing is, Scru’s shallow when it comes to that stuff, he doesn’t think it sounds good immediately and he doesn’t bother analyzing deeper
The hand of god and rest it turn you into resin is a call to Shigaraki's quirk in MHA, he has the ability of decay and anything he touches he rapidly decays it.

Man I wish Scru would watch some of these shows that the songs are based off of. It fits the character perfectly which makes the song hit very well.

If the songs can't stand on their own they would have 0 chance of blowing up outside nerdcore and I can tell you for a fact that is not DPS' goal. He is not looking to make songs that only appeal to people that know the character in question and just wants to make great music that anyone can listen to.

I like the hooks it fits the character really well because he's a very subtle calm character but with that last arc his aggressive side came out so smooth.
I wonder if he noticed in the "Can't nobody do it like me!" Part had Fabvl in with DPS going for the same thing.
It did almost feel like he’s still holding a grudge against Fabvl, he stopped vibing with it the second Fabvl said anything. Plus at the start he hyped up everyone else and then muttered “oh, and fabvl too”

The clash in the hook honestly caught me by surprise but once I heard it again the second time. It honestly fits perfectly. Not just because of the character but if you listen to the song without stopping it getting you hyped up and ready for DPS to come with more bars
Sometimes you forget that these songs are supposed to represent characters from anime. And this one fits this character pretty damn well, he can be smooth but he's also super intense out of no where.
Haven't heard anyone besides scru not fuck with the hook. Imo it's probably a top 3 dps hook this year. The sudden shift in energy worked for me very well.

The first time I listened to this joint the hook caught me a bit off guard, but DPS taps into his characters unlike anyone I've heard yet and Shigaraki is exactly like this song. Quiet and mellow at points and an absolute psychopath in others.

Nah, DPS is in his character bag. This character is greasy, sliding through shadows to do his dirty work, but when he comes out, he comes swinging hard. Then he slides back into the shadows again. It works with the character.

I think the vibe actually goes throughout the whole song, there’s an extremely intense base in the background the whole time, along with a quite, menacing voice. The vibe feels like the singer is some sort of genius villain that actually beats the hero’s. But the hook is the Insanity behind their calm demeanor, it starts off smooth but the word don’t sound like they should be, the words themselves aren’t smooth, then the actual insanity comes out.

That clash was perfect to me though. Because at the end of the day, it’s a shigaraki track, and he has both that sinister smooth feeling, and that brutal, gritty attitude that comes out towards the end of the hook.

I think one thing you forget sometimes is that some of these songs are about characters. This song pretty perfectly sums up shigaraki in my opinion
I'll say that I think the reason for DPS doing that really aggressive part that you don't like matches the vibe for the villain character such as Shigaraki cause if you just had the smooth rap flow then it wouldn't go fully with the evilness and jam pact efforts of Shigaraki.

There’s a RUclipsr called some effects that slowed and reverbed the song on his channel and it pretty much fixes the problem you had with the hook 👌
I think that clash is perfect because that's kind of how Shigaraki is treated until he starts doing big crazy stuff that truly shoes how much of a threat he really is and/or could be.

I really do like the hook. It’s fitting for the characters and I do like its contrast with the first part of the hook. Not only does it help give the song a bit more of a unwise identity, I enjoy how it startles the listener and it still sounds good.
