Round 1, Jab (warmup) Round 2. Southpaw Round 3. Head Movement Round 4,5,6. Fight Pace, (Fast Combos, Flurries, Active Footwork, etc) Round 7. Being Cagey, Slick, On the outside, Picky Shots, In and Out. Round 8. Hand Speed and Punch Volume Round 9. Power Shots Round 10. Work Inside the bag.
I hope you watched the whole video, because there is a round where I go full force. Nevertheless going full force with every punch is like going 'all in' with a poker hand. It has potential to pay off big or take you out of the game.
yes, once they heal take a towel and fold it up on the floor. Close your fist and balance on one fist sideways as if you are an airplane perpendicular to the ground. Keep your arm straight and hold for a minute. Do both sides. After a few months your wrists should be stronger.
This is not true. Oscar De La Hoya was a great boxer and never had a single streetfight. I remember seeing him talk about avoiding all street confrontations and saying, "I don't fight for free." during his countdown with Mayorga. There are many non-thug successful boxers.
Your arm has to have some bend in it when hitting the bag otherwise you have nothing more to penetrate the target. Once you connect if the bag was to suddenly disappear you should be able to move you fist forward about another 2-6 inches. It all depends on whether its just a jab to tag the guy or a power shot that's meant to take him out
These videos you make are very informative. Too many people work the bag for an aerobic exercise, and miss out on training themselves for battle. I have fought many fights in my life. So I watch with a load of experience. You are an outstanding teacher, and thank you for your videos. You are helping people because your tips are easy to understand and more importantly you explain the why of your tactics. Good work
Round 1: warm up jab...angles, setting up shots Round 2: opposite stance Round 3: head movement...slipping, ducking Rounds 4,5,6: fight pace...lots of combos, angles, active footwork Round 7: selective punching...slick, cagey, cautious Round 8: volume...let mind go free and hands go Round 9: power shots...bad intentions on these shots, bend the knees and dig Round 10: work the inside..get close to the back and work all angles thank you for the video as always :)
I freaking love this guy's videos. Such sound advice about everything. I watched his videos more often a few years ago when I was training. But even if you're not training, it's still so interesting to watch this guy and his lessons.
I've come back to this video so many times over the years to find new ways to work the heavy bag when my routine feels like it's getting stale. Thank you for a great video.
very crisp punching and great technique. There are a lot of videos on YT for hitting the heavy bag but the people hitting it were either holding back or probably just doing cardio boxing. You actually train like a fighter. Subscribed.
that's up to you and something you should try to figure out. Work rate is very important and its what separates the good boxers from the elite boxers. If you are busy you can reasonably sustain a 200 punch round. If you are in amazing condition you can hit upwards of a 300 punch round. But this is with head movement and footwork, not just standing there and throwing punches. Film yourself for a few busy rounds and count your punches. Aim to increase that over time. 3 minute rounds
I've been boxing for a very long time and have watched a lot of boxing tutorials online regarding heavy bag workouts... and this video, by far, is one of the best. Thanks for the great work!
You can train on the bag 6 days a week but I wouldn't recommend going all out everyday. I wouldn't recommend 10 rounds a day either. Build up your rounds slowly and build up your days per week. It all depends on where you are right now.
i have at times had to use a standing bag, you have to try to make it work so I would generally work a similar routine but with slightly lighter and faster punches so the thing doesn't slide all around the floor
hey bro, it's 3 minute rounds and 1 minute rest. Either way you can decide for yourself - Amateur 2 min rounds with 1 min rest, or Pro 3 min rounds or 1 min rest.
You can circle around both ways. During a fight, you'll see that it's more natural to circle to your left, but many coaches say you should never circle towards your opponent's strong hand (his right) and so there's conflicting advice. For training purposes, I'd say it's a good idea to go both ways. A standard round is 3 minutes.
This video has given me really good ideas, only been boxing for three months properly. Feeling inspired to be honest. You move amazing. Respect from Adelaide ,Australia
I just recently started getting into boxing to help me get into shape. This video will help a lot. Simple and straight to the point. Thank you for putting it up. Very grateful.
Good work Brah! Finally its good to see someone who knows what theyre talking about make vidos. Too many chumps who go by what they hear and see on tv or other videos trying to call themselves actual coaches. Hearing and seeing the power snaps on that bag really show youre the real deal. Keep it up!
Yesss! about time a boxer did a heavy bag video. Excellent movement good hands fantastic breathing keeping the weight on both feet. Really enjoy watching PRO.
This is brilliant work. I have been watching your videos for that past 5 months. As soon as summer comes around I will be in the gym with a coach, training my ass off with Boxing. Thank you.
This is an awesome video man! Variety style rounds is such a good idea didn't think of that! Adding this style to kickboxing as well! Hope you dont mind me stealing the idea to train some of my students! Thanks for the online lesson though!!! haha
Excellent tips man ! Thanks a lot. I started boxing a few months ago only to help me quit smoking, but now, after watching your video, I wanna fight like a pro. Greetings from Brazil.
Good to see a guy that is great at explaining things and can follow up with what he says! As I have my first competitive fight coming up in April this guy really helps with my out of club workouts!
Hey JT just a heads up been following "all" the videos and they are very helpful! I can tell your passionate about your profession and really enjoy teaching people about this great sport. Keep it up cause we need POSITIVE VIDEOS like these and less of the other negative things that go on the Tube.
simon simon you always got a chance just keep at it, stay consistent, it's easy to wanna be the best one day but it's a hell lot harder to wanna be the best every single day so strive every day to be the best and you'll succeed
out of all the videos i see one boxing instruction, you are the only dude that really knows what hes talking about. why are you not a professional fighter- you look like you are very well trained.
Why the fuck every gym in my city has Kick Boxing classes but you have to try SOOO hard to find one with Boxing?? Fucking trends, there's nothing like old school boxing!!!!
Absolutely. This is heavy cardio-training which will not only help you to lose fat, but also improve your general shape and your mobility. Give it a try.
thanks man. Some people said sore wrists is normal and will always happen. but then others say just punch lighter and use the middle knuckle (when gloves) as a focal point.
Thank you for the great video, my name is Nelson the Tyrant Lebron, been fighting for years, boxing, kickboxing, and MMA. I am in the service and this allows me to reach all my students and open them up to different workouts. God Bless you.
+mitsos papadopoulos Anybody can look impressive on a heavy bag. Not sure what weight this guy fought at. but im pretty sure Mayweather would come out on top if they fought a regular amateur bout.
+Zakariia nobody said this guy could beat Mayweather! Mayweather pound for pound best boxer in the world so why would anyone be saying this guy could beat him. This guy it's teaching people boxing techniques for guys that might not be able to attend a boxing gym. Your comment was ridiculous. Give yourself a slap.
I was always taught that the bag should move very little, if at all, if it's struck correctly. I mean you look like you know your shit, but that's how I was trained.
I know, and I did say he looks well versed in what he's doing. I'm just stating my experience as being trained by someone who has been boxing and kickboxing for nearly 20 years.
Very good man, it's all about pacing man just pick some one you know that can't box well or some one green, try to spar with him you will find your self not getting tired at all. Good luck and do more cardio workouts !
Round 1, Jab (warmup)
Round 2. Southpaw
Round 3. Head Movement
Round 4,5,6. Fight Pace, (Fast Combos, Flurries, Active Footwork, etc)
Round 7. Being Cagey, Slick, On the outside, Picky Shots, In and Out.
Round 8. Hand Speed and Punch Volume
Round 9. Power Shots
Round 10. Work Inside the bag.
thanks bro needed a list!
is he doing 3 minute rounds?
going to give it a try. 3mins maybe i cant do 5 haha
3 minutes is a usually a round for pro bouts but 2 is for beginners.
ufc fighter have really great stamina and i salute it.
I hope you watched the whole video, because there is a round where I go full force. Nevertheless going full force with every punch is like going 'all in' with a poker hand. It has potential to pay off big or take you out of the game.
I like the dedicated to southpaw round. That's smart.
People who disliked this video don't box, man got excellent technique.
No he doesn't
Tyler Durden so why do you have him in your work out playlist
@@bigguy6634 lol
Michael Kirkland agree 100%
@@bigguy6634 Ha ha ho ho!

This is one of the best bag workouts ive seen nothing fancy just basic hard nose boxing at its finest!
Nice footwork..... You got some snap to those punches brother. Impressive.
to many reasons to get into here, but at the time coaching, location, and money were all big factors. thx for the feedback.

"Bad intentions on these shots"
That's a great description for power shots. Nice vid dude.
Some serious power on show there brother. Those hooks are particularly impressive.

Thanks for the video. Great refresher for heavy bag workout ideas. I am 63 and still enjoy boxing training! Thanks for the tips.
great video dude, watching this pre-training, gonna use it straight away!
The level of detail is amazing and his movements are very fluid and quick. You my friend have just earned a sub.
I always wondered what is there to dislike about videos like this?
Jealousy.
idiots who prefer to use guns
People who wish they could box
I think its the accidental ones or the dumbasses who thought its a download button.
accidental
This was a GREAT sequence of round preparation!!!
Thank you very much. I`ll try this today in my solo training. Keep up the atitude in shearing - that`s the way people grow. Thanks again.

I was feeling unmotivated to train until i saw this. Your so good and the advice is spot on - how has anyone disliked this vid?

Nice!!
Yesss! about time a boxer did a heavy bag video. Excellent movement good hands fantastic breathing keeping the weight on both feet. Really enjoy watching PRO.
Damn man you hit hard as hell even when you're not using full power.
Those punches are a thing of beauty
You make heavybag art. How do you learn to move like that? I'm too heavy on feet.

Nice bag work sir
you got some snap in your punches....just the sound of the bag when you hit it is music to my ears. much respect.
this video makes me feel bad....i wish i can box this good
I was so bad at boxing. I did 3 weeks of boxing at my local boxing gym. Now i know the basic and dont look like a lost duck.
3 weeks is quick...good
Thanks!
so find yo ass a boxing bag and get started
It just takes time
V I love your left hand, especially that crackling sound when it hits the bag, especially your power shots with the left. AWESOME MAN
Thank you
I was taught to hit it within the last 3 inches of your full arm extension. Your focus should be moreso on your body rotation than your arm extension.
Nice, im going to try to copy....ive got no chance, im 50+ buts its inspiration to get fit again...thanks
simon simon you always got a chance just keep at it, stay consistent, it's easy to wanna be the best one day but it's a hell lot harder to wanna be the best every single day so strive every day to be the best and you'll succeed
This is a great video. Very helpful. I struggle with head movement when working out on the heavy bag and this offers frequent reminders.
nice looking punches.
I began boxing training in 1968 and think this was very nicely done. Very good work
Off to the gym :D
Thanks mate you’re it videos are brilliant and completely motivating ....
Can’t thank you enough.

Me as well. He is one of the good trainers on you tube. I also use the, fighters domain, boxing guy. Good workout techniques.
out of all the videos i see one boxing instruction, you are the only dude that really knows what hes talking about. why are you not a professional fighter- you look like you are very well trained.
would this be a more cardio based workout?
As opposed to resistance training? Definitely.
cheers :)
I would say yes
boxing is cardi
Just started working with the heavy bag. This video's giving me motivation!
Why the fuck every gym in my city has Kick Boxing classes but you have to try SOOO hard to find one with Boxing?? Fucking trends, there's nothing like old school boxing!!!!
Οντως, καλα τα λες ρε ηρακλακια σαλονικιε
Γάμησέ τα ρε αδερφέ.. Καταντήσαμε να προπονούμαστε μόνοι μας... Να ναι καλά το αλάνι ο Van V!!!
+Frost Salonica agree comepletely! Can't find any old school boxing gym in my city :/
cochi256 Where are you from??
+Frost Salonica Quito, Ecuador. Sadly, the MMA trend is pretty strong right now so every gym offers either that or kick boxing
I like Ringside IMF tech bag glove. never used the gel.
Thx,good job ;)
thx Ryan
could this be something i could do to lose weight?
Absolutely.
This is heavy cardio-training which will not only help you to lose fat, but also improve your general shape and your mobility.
Give it a try.
totopoo123 yes it is its what I've been doing to lose weight
So fluid. So crisp.
I don`t understand English. But footwork turn and punch rhythm very reference.
thanks man. Some people said sore wrists is normal and will always happen. but then others say just punch lighter and use the middle knuckle (when gloves) as a focal point.
this dude is scary as fuck lmao
This is a great video. Excellent workout. Very helpful
I would not fuck with this guy on the street!! Look at how he tosses that punching bag around like a salad it's unbelievable!!

How many minutes is a round?
3 minutes
3 Minutes
Thank you for the great video, my name is Nelson the Tyrant Lebron, been fighting for years, boxing, kickboxing, and MMA. I am in the service and this allows me to reach all my students and open them up to different workouts. God Bless you.
still better than floyd's heavy bag workout!!

Just be careful, over the years that can have a negative effect. Better to close your fists tight and do pushups on them
You mean for wrist health?

I was always taught that the bag should move very little, if at all, if it's struck correctly. I mean you look like you know your shit, but that's how I was trained.
I disagree
Daniel a lot of different styles of training out there, except for jogging and rope skipping.
I know, and I did say he looks well versed in what he's doing. I'm just stating my experience as being trained by someone who has been boxing and kickboxing for nearly 20 years.
everyone has their own opinions on things, i think bag movement is key for training distancing though.
ididabod that's right bro
By far the best boxing videos out. SO insightful and helpful. Thank you (beginner boxer.)
I can barely do 5 rounds without getting tired.
Update i can do 10 rounds pretty well now, now i can barley do 5 rounds sparring without getting tired lol
Very good man, it's all about pacing man just pick some one you know that can't box well or some one green, try to spar with him you will find your self not getting tired at all. Good luck and do more cardio workouts !
