I somehow forgot to discuss "Man"! So here's my thoughts on it:
I find this song extremely fascinating, as although it's only about 11 seconds long, it stands out as being stylistically distinct from everything else. The motif it has seems completely unique, with no clear connections to any other leitmotifs, which is bizarre and fascinating. It makes me think that this is a small fragment of a larger theme and that this person is almost certainly NOT Gaster. Gaster's theme is plastered all over this game, yet this song seems to be devoid of it. This makes me think that, at the very least, this "Man" is not the same person from "Another HIm." It may be a different Gaster, it may be the Everyman, or it may be someone completely different. I sincerely have no idea, but it's absolutely fascinating! As for where I'd rate it, it's a very basic track that's not very fun to listen to, so I'd probably put it above Cliffs but below The Chase.
Hopefully I don't have to edit in my thoughts on any other missed songs. xD
Edit: Also, yes, my internal logic for what each tier consists of changes over the course of the video. That's just how Tier Lists are for me. I start with some vague logic, then that logic evolves into something more nuanced as I get a better grasp of what it is I actually value. Things like "This is a song that anybody can love" quickly stopped being relevant as I realized I don't care what other people think, I'm rating this based off what I think. So, yeah. The curse of having no script! xD
Edit2: So! Turns out there's the "Determination" Leitmotif within Rude Buster, and Rude Buster's theme is also found in Lantern! This actually changes my mind on my placement of both of these, at least a little, as this brings up a whole pile of new connotations! So, first off, what are the implications of Determination being in Rude Buster? Well, Determination as a concept is very important in these games, and the main way you express your Determination, whether violently or through pacifism, is via combat encounters. You notably only hear the original Determination song during a Game Over, emphasizing it's connection to conflict and combat. So, thanks to its connection to combat, it adds up that it would appear in the combat theme of DR. Furthermore, Rude Buster is specifically tied to Susie, which not also emphasizes her violence, but also tied her will specifically up with Determination. This, in my opinion, is some really cool character building! The idea that Susie, not Kris, may be the one who is the most filled with Determination would be a fascinating shake-up, and gives even more agency to Susie, which I love!
The third and perhaps most important concept tied up with Determination is, of course, Asgore. Asgore is the one who speaks while this song plays, and Asgore is the only one who actually has the Determination theme integrated into his boss battle. He embodies death, Game Overs, and the end of your journey, but he also embodies hope. He encourages you to stay Determined, and in doing so emphasizes that your Happily Ever After is still within reach. This dual symbolism of death and hope perfectly captures the essence of Determination as a concept. Everything good, bad, and in-between can be matched, surpassed, and overcome if you stay Determined. This is integral to the thesis of UNDERTALE, and thus having Determination all tied up with Rude Buster, and by extension Susie, is an extremely fascinating concept. It almost makes her feel like more of a main character than Kris, to be honest, which makes a lot of sense! The weird kid that doesn't talk wouldn't make for much of a protagonist. But the reluctant hero called to save the land from Darkness? THAT is a protagonist! Susie is the one undergoing a "Hero's Journey." Not Kris. Fascinating.
Then there's Lantern, and everything I just said also applies to Seam, but in a much more distant way. Namely, the distance of time. Seam's theme makes it feel like, once upon a time, he and Jevil were the protagonists of their own story. They were the heroes of yesteryear. They were the champions of the land. They embodied hope and death and Determination. But after losing his will, Seam is but an old cat full of memories. That's what his theme imparts to me. An ancient wizard from a different Legend that has already reached its end. Nothing left now but to gather dust while you wait for the end.
With this analysis considered, where would I put Rude Buster now? I'd probably bump it right up into A-Tier, actually! Specifically, I'd put it below Susie, but above Smart Race! As for Lantern, I'd boost its ranking as well! Specifically, I'd put it below Darkness Falls, but above Queen! That extra boon of Determination REALLY intrigues me and makes Seam feel like a more important character than Queen.
Oh, also, someone pointed out that Acid Tunnel of Love is based on Lancer's theme, which not only explains its goofiness, but also foreshadows Rouxls Kaard's appearance. As a reward for having this extra depth, I'll bump Acid Tunnel of Love above Cyber Battle. Get rekt Cyber Battle. xD

One interesting part of "It's Pronounced Rules" is that the very ending, where the notes go in that little up-down rhythm, mirrors the transition between the first and second halves of the theme "Queen", showing Rouxls' desire to become her minion. The fact that the part Rouxls parrots is also the part of the song where Queen goes from her high-class and droll aristocratic self to a slightly more serious and troubled monarch is also interesting.
(Also: The motif of the second half of "It's Pronounced Rules" originates from Lancer, rather than Acid Tunnel of Love - Acid Tunnel of Love is a variation on the Thrash Machine Song, which is a variation on Lancer;; it's complicated)

    a few things:
    1. the "weird choir noises" in ANOTHER HIM are actually the sounds Giygas makes in Earthbound. Not sure how they were made, reminds me of some sort of machine mixed with some kind of organism, calling out in a synthesised yet strangely animal manner. Makes sense considering Giygas in Earthbound is a rabid insane god-thing that was locked inside a machine until the final moments of their life.
    2. I can generally tell when a song is good when it gives me goosebumps, and Darkness Falls definitely does that for me. It conjures up all this guilt knowing that in giving up, you've destroyed an entire world, and all the characters that you know and don't know are all going to suffer as the world ends and they are left alone in the dark. This song will almost definitely return later on.
    3. The Dark Truth is SCARY to me. It's such a tonal shift from what songs just came before and is a very effective reminder of what's at stake in this story. And as it trails off into darkness, it leaves you with this hopeless dread of what's to come.
    4. Flashback is possibly one of the most horrifying, foreboding songs I've ever heard. Its detachedness, its instrumentation, the wavering drone that begins halfway through, it, like The Dark Truth, signals a tonal shift, but in an even darker direction than even that. It reminds you that you did just mentally torture a vulnerable child into committing terrible acts, and really serves as a warning that you have done something terribly, TERRIBLY wrong, and that from hereon in this story is heading in a very different direction, and not a good one. I think that since the Snowgrave path represents the game going off-script, I think from this point the Weird Route will be locked in. The game, in having its sequence broken so irreparably, will diverge off into chaos no matter what we do. Your choices don't matter, but you abused your control over those whose choices did, and now you must face the consequences. And the fact that the filename states this is only an excerpt of the full thing, this song is almost definitely returning, pray tell what horrors it will bring with it.
And that's my TED Talk on why flashback_excerpt.ogg is the scariest song in a videogame.

One thing I will mention about the Chaos King track is that it has the motif from the very end of "The Legend" - the part where Ralsei is describing that a new Dark Fountain has appeared on the horizon. And indeed, it is on this section that Chaos King gets "stuck", repeating the same measure over and over.

7:18:00 I've been thinking about this so much the last couple days, and God that's going to be a crazy couple weeks when it drops. Already in just two chapters there are so many extremely specific events that can happen depending on the most inconsequential details, and I feel like every chapter is going to increase the amount of those exponentially. For all we know there could be an interaction in Chapter Five that only triggers if you specifically canceled the Snowgrave route, beat Berdley with violence at least once so his wing gets broken, completed Mettaton's quest but canceled your visit to Papyrus on the third day and doing all that culminates in an item being up for sale in the light world that you can only afford if you've taken every opportunity to get money.
That's mostly an exaggerated joke, but knowing Toby, there is going to be at least one extremely niche event like that

This might sound insane, but I think Another Him’s title might somehow be alluding to Ralsei. When it comes to ominous characters who are referred to simply as “Him,” especially in terms of soundtrack, I can only think of Asriel, whose name in Undertale is alluded to slowly until his big reveal of it during his fight, and whose theme is not named for his first name, nor his personality, nor the moment you hear it. It’s simply “His Theme”; so when you hear “Another Him”, my first thought it always “Another Asriel”, which then instantly harkens to Ralsei who is, potentially literally, Another Asriel, or Another Him. The significance of Ralsei being connected to the Vessel’s creation or Gaster or any of the other capital letter songs is not known, which dampens my theory considerably, but I can’t shake it

Hey Jaru!! Fantastic video I skipped through a few of the portions about songs I’m not as passionate about but this absolutely made my school day LMAO
One thing I wanted to note about Dialtone specifically which you didn’t mention (but really elevates the song for me, though I’m kind of biased as it’s one of my favorites) is that it isn’t just Spamton’s shop theme- the reason why it’s timeline-wise placed after “A Real Boy!” in this is because it’s the theme that plays after Spamton DIES. Dialtone is the background track for Spamton in his final moments, his last bits of true coherence, where he SNAPS out of it (pun intended) and speaks to the party. Dialtone then, to me, becomes the background track for Spamton’s genuine care towards Kris, and with the way it plays in that scene it sounds like acceptance.
It sounds like melancholic, but still hopeful, acceptance- that Kris and their friends might be able to break their own strings, make it in the world the way he couldn’t. Dialtone is crushingly sad to me because of that and I think the tune really encapsulates that scene and the tragedy of Spamton’s character well :]
That’s my two cents! Felt I should share as the local extreme Dialtone Deltarune enjoyer, haha. Loved the vid your longform content truly never misses

Regarding 'The Door', I think the main melody sounds distinct and interesting enough to be the motif of something we haven't encountered yet. in the comments of a youtube upload of this track @TheFlyfly says "I cant wait for the final boss to have this leitmotif" and though i don't necessarily think that's the case, i think it would be fitting for toby to include this motif later for something important. Edit: It showing up again in The chase arguably makes it it's own motif and gives this idea ground.

I think I know why there are candles in The Door theme. In fiction candles are often a representation of hope as they are literally a small, flickering light in a dark room. We see a lot of candles in castle town and one in seam's shop. But we also see them in card castle as well as in the basement to Jevil's cell, so I'm not sure.
I don't think spamton had anything to do with candles which might state his hopelessness.

@@JaruJaruJ well, I'll gladly elaborate if you'd like to hear.
To your point about the immediate rebuttal of "Kill or be killed", that does not necessitate it needing to happen for "your choices don't matter." But that doesn't matter, because it does happen. Suzy says your choices don't matter because she's going to eat your face. She doesn't, and then proceeds to actually become your friend.
I think you're really just missing a crucial detail. Jevil is an antagonist. He's a bad guy. His place in the story means that his ideology is contradictory to the truth of the narrative. His reaction to his realization is wrong, obviously, but if this realization is the consistent theme amongst antagonists, that means the realization is flawed, or contradictory to the truth of the theme.
In your analysis of the World Revolving, you say that the theme praises Jevil, and of course it does, it's his theme, he's playing the music. Jevil thinks he is very clever, but just like with Roulxs Kaard's theme, that's just how Jevil sees himself.
And I also disagree with your point that if we disagree with your interpretation of the main theme that we can't agree with other parts. You do a lot of great work and research, even if I don't think you understand what Toby is trying to say. And it's also very entertaining, your style of theory's crafting swings for the fences, which is very courageous. It's easy to want to be very centrist online, but you take big swings and tell grand stories, which I think is really fun.

P.S. You don't absolutely know _for sure_ how much Snowgrave will end up changing things, how important it'll be, none of us _know_ these things _for sure_ because the story hasn't fully played out, of course.

In regards to ‘The Door’, and the burning Candle noise, I believe the song in addition to playing at the door, also plays in CASTLE TOWN just before you meet with Ralsei for the first time. And along the walls there, there are a verity of blue candles. So it could be an ambient noise integrated for the purposes of that area.
It could mean Toby designed the song for that place first, and only later decided to use it for the door scene where it got its official name. I wonder if we’ll get to hear it sometime again in the future chapters.

With my auditory processing issues that make is hard for me to discern what someone is saying aloud, captions are amazing as I don't have to rewatch a section of a video over and over just to know what someone is saying. Not to mention it greatly limits who I can watch, which is a shame when a lot of good content isn't captioned and the background music it too loud for me to know what someone is saying.

So, this video lead to... about two epiphanies for me, just from listening to the music, and also your explanations and analyzations of that music. Which lead to a lot of theories brewing in my mind. Basically... an explosion of thoughts and stuff, heh.
My first epiphany was... Why it's called the Weird Route in Chapter 2's files, instead of a form of genocide, or another name. Weird Route is very specific, because the name implies it isn't a genocide, it isn't a specific name, because what I think OTHER Weird Routes are going to be now.
Think about what the Weird Route is in Chapter 2, and especially what Jaru thinks the point of the Weird Route in Chapter 2 is. An attempt by the player to make choices matter, when they don't, through killing, and trying to get stronger, using even someone else in that attempt that Kris as a character clearly has emotional attachment to.
Do you know who else that sounds incredibly like? Spamton. In fact... it's exactly Spamton's thoughts by becoming Spamton NEO. That he could become free, and likely, able to challenge the Angel. And immediately after realizing that wouldn't be true, he attempted to try and take Kris' soul in that attempt. it's very much... an echo.
I think it's obvious what I think the Weird Route means now. Each Weird Route we'll see will be an echo of that chapter's secret bosses' mentality, and breakage. The flaws in their reaction of their choices NOT mattering.
What this also gives is something I've wanted DESPERATELY to know since Chapter 2 released. Why didn't Chapter 1 get a Weird Route. It could be passed off as purely to make Chapter 1 more simple, but... I highly doubt that. Think about Jevil's breakage. He's a Hedonist. He's purely accepted that his choices don't matter, and ran with it. What even COULD be the Weird Route of Chapter 1 by that logic. The BEST way to describe the Weird Route Chapter 1 COULD have? Just playing through Chapter 1 itself, having fun with it. Doing whatever you want. The Weird Route of Chapter 1 can't be made, because it is simply... how people are going to play through Chapter 1 anyhow, to be completely honest.
And this leads directly into... My second epiphany.
My second epiphany is... well, split into multiple, to be completely honest. Basing partially off of the previous one. What makes Seam... so knowledgable.
I believe the first and last chapters will not have a Weird Route. Because I believe the secret bosses of the first and last chapters have already accepted the fact that their choices... simply don't matter. Jevil is obvious. And it's pretty obvious that Seam is who I think the last chapter secret boss is, I presume, just by... how this "epiphany" is labeled.
But why? Well... Seam's knowledge. It matches Jevil's and Spamton's, if not more so, and he does know the other two secret bosses so far, something only shown by the other secret bosses. Spamton also foreshadows Mike, which is believed to be Chapter 3's secret boss. Also, Seam's strength. Seam is known to be stronger at base than any of the other characters, even the secret bosses. But how? How would he be stronger than the other secret bosses? How do the secret bosses even know each other? How does he have such knowledge?
Honestly, all these questions are answered by each other, so it's sorta... hard to explain.
Answering the easiest question by this logic, his knowledge. 1. He is able to travel between dark worlds. Pretty logical. How he, the other secret bosses, and Ralsei can travel safely is the interesting part.
I think, from what we've seen, it's strength, in one way or another. We've seen that Ralsei can travel perfectly fine. But we've also seen Lancer and Rouxls Kaard turn to stone after leaving Kris' pocket. But, notice how Lancer turns to stone MUCH quicker than Rouxls Kaard. Rouxls Kaard leaves as soon as getting to the Cyberworld, and yet... Rouxls Kaard only turns to stone in the fight with him, and it's not even full. And it's... pretty likely that Rouxls Kaard actually DOES have some very strong power within him. So... of course the secret bosses, and Ralsei, can travel. They're all INCREDIBLY strong darkners. Which is likely how the secret bosses and Seam know each other, aside from Jevil.
    2. Seam has a pure crystal. Not a shadow crystal, a pure crystal. Notice how he is the only person, at all, to acknowledge the shadow crystals at all. He knows what they can actually do, and we KNOW he has the Shadow Mantle, which is almost certainly, as Jaru has stated, connected directly to the Shadow Crystals. So... It's only logical that how Seam knows how the crystals work is because he has used them before. Used them to fight, most likely. Which can also tie back to his strength.
But why would he even fight us? Well... to test us. I believe that Seam is likely to grow fond of us. Yet he also knows there's no chance we stand to give this world choices that matter. So... a simple test. One to give hope, perhaps, or... something of that nature.
So then, why is Seam likely the last secret boss, I suppose is the next question. Storytelling is the main reason. It's incredibly likely, especially by Jaru's theories, that the last chapter is the Roaring. That, if it even does take place in a dark world, it will take place... within the Castle Town. Therefore, the strongest Secret boss, the one who knows EVERYTHING, the one who knows about all the other secret bosses, and has helped us with every other secret boss, is going to be for last.
Wow this was fun to write, heh. If anyone has read all of this... thank you! Please like... respond with flaws and stuff. And Jaru, if you do find this... I wonder if you've already contemplated all of this. In fact, I wonder if anyone has. Seems so... simple, that I honestly doubt someone hasn't.

I feel like I can add a few things in terms of leitmotifs of the songs:
    1. For The Beginning, I would like to note that the leitmotif at the end isn't in Undertale the song. I'm pretty sure it actually only plays in Undertale's opening sequence, and Post-True Lab.
    2. Lantern is entirely comprised of the leitmotif from Rude Buster, which further hints at Seam's connection to battle.
    3. That Fear leitmotif that you mentioned is actually all over Deltarune, If I've heard it correctly the songs with it in are Imminent Death, Vs. Susie, Gallery(when slowed a ton), The Dark Truth, & Digital Roots.
    4. Hey Every ! is actually a shorter even shorter version of A Real Boy!
    5. Acid Tunnel of love is actually a bit of foreshadowing because it is a variation on Thrash Machine which is also why its in It's pronounced "Rules".
    6. The sans leitmotif is also in It's Raining Somewhere Else.
    7. Results has the Uwa! Leitmotif.

@@JaruJaruJ even so! You missed the connection from “Field of Hopes and Dreams”. It’s not just a reference to the Undertale song, since Ralsei just mentioned those very same words in his retelling of The Legend! It deserves to be above “Another Him” at the very least, that’s all I’m saying.

I am absolutely CLUTCHING MY PEARLS at you ranking "Sound Studio" _an entire tier_ above "When I Get Happy I Dance Like This" the utter NERVE-
Fr though I'm a bit disappointed, I love how it takes "Cyber Battle" and adds more satisfyingly complex harmonies into it, and so I love ending on it when I listen to the game soundtrack on shuffle
Edit: okay even moreso, I'm disappointed you didn't even touch on Berdly's character development in "Bluebird of Misfortune," which personally resonated with me as a former gifted kid who's been through major burnout and impostor syndrome. Like that song is about him learning how his self-worth doesn't come from the scores he gets on his school assignments or, to a greater extent, using intelligence just to please the adults in his life. I don't care much about the tier ranking but I wish you'd at least acknowledge it signifies a major character development touchstone for Berdly rather than just "it does what it needs to"
5:42:27 okay fine you've won me back over, "this is like a nuclear bomb in terms of subtext" made me giggle

The Door, Cliffs, and the Chase are all strong references to Secret of Evermore’s music. When I first heard them, this blew my mind because I love how atmospheric that game’s music is, and it is also about being pulled into a dark, dangerous world so plays into the story being set.
Edit: Adding that I think the title of “Faint Glow” is really interesting, especially considering Kris is the “light bringer” and has left traces in the save files.

The way I interpreted The World Revolving is in reference to how Jevil thinks HE'S the only sane one. They "locked up the whole world" in prison, and now he's the only one who is free. Jevil's room may appear to be spinning, but from his point of view, he's perfectly still and the rest of the world are the ones spinning. Hence from his perspective, the World is Revolving around him, and the truth he knows, while his room remains grounded and sane. The outside world spins in madness-not him.
Edit: Oh, also if the time loop theory is real, that would nicely explain it. It would mean his room exists outside of the time reset, perpetually. From his room, he sees things happen, on repeat, forever. The World Revolving would thus reference the cyclical nature of time in the outside world, as viewed from inside his room. And whenever the day inevitably comes when someone lets Jevil out of his cell (as is fated to happen every reset) he always causes mass pandemonium in an attempt to destroy SOMETHING that might destroy the time reset. He has no inhibition, because from his perspective his chaos is intended to end the cycle and he feels justified in destroying as much as he possibly can to hopefully finally end it. But he always fails. Because as soon as he steps out of the room, he becomes subject to the time reset like everyone else. And he's already been thrown in prison before, so his imprisonment will always be fated to happen again and again, no matter what he does.

About your question about when the story takes place, remember Kris looking up when college's summer vacation is, and Toriel implies that this visit will be Asriel's first visit back to town since he left meaning no "Thanksgiving" break (if DT universe even has that), no Christmas break, and no spring break. Which is interesting. Either those breaks down don't exist in Deltarune's world, or that Asriel simply didn't want to come back at all those opportunities. Which is very interesting given that one particular theory you have about him.

My opinions after watching the video: ( it took a while lol )
I think I would put "rude buster" closer to "field of hopes and dreams". While it might technically not hold as much importance and is used a lot, I feel like it deserves a high spot due to it's sheer quality and epicness. Plus spamton sweepstakes gave us a slowed down version of it which makes it me hope we will get some remixes :3
I agree with checker dance's placement. It's a cool, goofy song but it just doesn't really compare to the others. It fits the 2 fights we have with k round but that's kinda it
It's interesting that you placed "vs Susie" so high up. It's really good ofc but I didn't think you love it so much. I would put it a little lower but maybe I'm underrating it
"Don't forget" obviously instant S tier! I'm looking forward to even more of remixes of it and eventually a possible full version representing the whole game
Man, "my castle town" is such a mood. I love how elegant, cslm and peaceful it is. I can just listen to it all day and relax 😴
Yeah, it's unfortunate that sweet captain cakes aren't important and pretty forgettable. They have really cool designs and I like them but they aren't interesting enough to be more beloved. At least they will do some cool stuff in the castle town as was shown in one of the updates
Spamton themes being high up was pretty obvious and very understandable 😂. Spamton is such a unique and deep character and his music reflects that fully. There's just so much chaos, wackiness and it's such a bop
Despite of the fact that queen doesn't have as much relevance, her connections with some characters are still pretty strong. That's why I think "attack of the killer queen" does actually deserve to be at very high A or even S. It sounds too good to be lower imo
Honestly, "BIG SHOT" is currently one of my absolute favourite pieces of music of ALL time. It's so good that I just can't get tired of it lmao. This masterpiece has so many intriguing connection, cool instruments and great vocals. It's an incredible evolution of Spamton that further ties him to concepts like freedom and power. In his NEO version he is even more desperate to be free while still being a wacky puppet salesman that made a deal with you. All the segments of BIG SHOT have something unique to them: it starts of being a more crazy rendition of Spamton, next the "freedom" motif that started with jevil shows up and it sounds so holy, almost like you are ascending to heaven, and then other leitmotifs like power of neo and dummy appear. The music is constantly changing and yet it sticks well together and makes this track even more interesting 💜💛
I don't really have an opinion on the unused tracks, I actually haven't heard some of them until now. The ones that are going to appear in chapters 3-5 are really cool though
So yeah, that's all I had to say 😁

Keygen is genius because of its name
It is a type of piracy tool
So when deltarune comes out and costs money it will make it so that people who search for deltarune keygen for piracy purposes
They will only find the song

Yes, the whole song is Don’t Forget. I think that plays into everything you said about it though, making it disconcerting and dark (especially when you revisit the song later after first hearing Don’t Forget) not just through its hollowness (100% a great description btw) but also its rushed, shallow treatment of Don’t Forget
EDIT: I realise you address this a few songs later!

After making my own tierlist video over every Undertale ost song, accumulating in about 6 hours of analysis I just want to say, Jaru, you are such a trooper! The sheer amount of time sitting and listening to the music, analyzing it, and editing it all together must have took soooo long. Let us just take a moment to appreciate Jaru's commitment to this channel and Deltarune as a whole.
Also, I think it's kinda funny how a video going over the entirety of Deltarune chapter one, two, and even songs that aren't even in the ost almost beat out the time it took to go over just the 101 Undertale songs. Not trying to imply anything, I just thought it was ironic.
(Also not trying to self-promote but if your trying to find my Undertale ost tierlist [which I was inspired to make by this very video] at the time of commenting, it it almost uploaded. Like I said, it's almost 6 hours long)
Thanks Jaru, still will continue to love the content!

    What you said about "before the story" gave me an idea-- not necessarily one I agree with, but one I could see happening-- in which our heroes lose, don't escape the time loop or what have you, but one of the things that shifts it from bitter to bittersweet is that they're involved, somehow, in making Undertale happen; Toby Fox having been involved (musically) with Homestuck, I'm thinking like a Scratch; for context, for anyone who doesn't know, think of it like, realizing your reality is in some way doomed, and so resetting reality, making it new but with different starting conditions, or with some details rearranged-- like, if Earth and its history is like a deck of cards, taking a few of the cards and putting them elsewhere in the deck;
That got a bit rambling, but, I dig the idea of our heroes realizing the best thing they can do is to get a new world going that has a chance of a happy ending; it would be bittersweet, and I love bittersweet
