I understand Jonny’s reaction so much, I react just like him to comments like that. Whether it’s towards my culture or another culture, I can’t help but react negatively to it, it really is bothering how ignorant and disrespectful people can be, whether they realize it or not, it doesn’t change how genuinely hurtful and hateful it can be towards someone. Props to you guys for validating his feelings and reaction, and your own’s as well. Not everyone reacts the same and thats okay, sometimes people don’t mind, sometimes people do, sometimes it genuinely affects someone and its really heartwarming that you validated his feelings while also trying to de-escalate it and comfort him, calming him down and reminding him that you’re there to have fun, his feelings are valid, but to not let something thats out of his control affect him during a time hes supposed to relax and spend time with his brothers and have fun.
Big props to you guys for the way you handled that unfortunate interaction. I liked how you were validating your brother’s reaction & not dismissing it for the sake of content. Your sincerity shines through & we can see how much you guys care for each other. I’m glad you guys were still able to enjoy your day & hope you don’t encounter another ignorant person anytime soon.
Johnathans so valid tho cause the more we let shit like that slide the more its gonna happen. I tend to react like Justin and K1 more cause im so used to micro agressions but it doesnt do anything now a days.
Jonny's reaction was understandable i hate when people ask or go up to you and say are you mexican i feel like people only know Hispanic peope as Mexican but there are many different type of Hispanic
Dear Brothers, don't let some idiot ruin your day. When I went to film school in France, there were Korean, Chinese and Indian students (all in their early twenties). None of them got along with each other and the questions from the French students were really direct to them. The one gay Vietnamese student from Canada was ostracized from all three groups and when the other Asian students did interact with him, it was horrible. Caucasian people in the US, to be honest, don't have a lot of exposure to Asian people except for the folks they see at the local Chinese takeout. I'm not kidding. I don't think the guy you bumped into was trying to be racist, not to defend him, but was acting out of his own insecurity and awkwardness. But obviously I can't read that guy's mind. Cultural differences between groups of people are huge. I don't know. I'm just overwhelmed by all the focus on race. It gets in the way of just getting to know each other as fellow humans. We're all missing out because of it. Anyway, live life to the fullest and be humble. Peace.
Gross. So gross.. This is why it's hard to even consider leaving Southern California.. Also the burger shop opens around 11-12? Is it 11? or 12? LOL so laid back..
So instead of just telling y’all where the boba place was he had to be ignorant man Johnathan so valid for his reaction but good job k1 for being positive y’all better than me 😂
Please don't take that man's comments negatively. He guessed wrong that you were of Chinese heritage was just trying to be friendly by speaking Chinese to you. He obviously loves Asians to have had a Korean girlfriend and to speak some Chinese. I would have taken that as a compliment that he loves Asian people and culture.

Stay in your lane. When BIPOC tell you something is a micro aggression and racist, it is.
