  • Today we open our series with a talk by renowned spiritual teacher Adyashanti (whose name means “primordial peace”). Adya is an American-born teacher Zen Buddhist teacher. His wisdom has touched the lives of tens of thousands of students through his books, retreats, online courses and broadcasts.
In this episode we explore of the following ideas:
    - Discovering what we are willing to suffer for, as a way to orient our life from.
    - Remembering that what makes us upset, is really showing us where we care.
    - Finding the part of us that cares to make individual or societal transformation possible.
    - How can we access a deep sense of peace without rushing around trying to search for it?
    - What does spiritual practice look like in the real world with its real pressures?
You can connect with Adyashanti and his teachings online at Open Gate Sangha. www.adyashanti...

Just feel a need to clarify a minor point in the "description" for this video. Adya isn't a "Zen Buddhist" teacher. His original master was a Zen teacher, and he had his first awakening while practicing in the context of Zen. But, when you have listened to enough of his talks, you'll find that he describes his awakening as something that happened "in spite of his Buddhist practice", not because of it, even though he acknowledges the impossibility in separating it out entirely, but doesn't teach it.
As he puts it, (para) "my awakening happened, after I was willing to completely accept that the teachings of Zen Buddhism were entirely fraudulent". In contrast to his previous rigorous Zen discipline, he sees nothing wrong with students meditating "slumped over". When questioned about this he basically stated that "our absolute nature can be realized even when slumped over".
I'm a huge fan of Adya. He is the one teacher that speaks directly to old-timers like me, who have been studying/practicing/striving for decades but settled into a complacent mindset. He has done more to demystify "the path" better than any teacher, especially those whose mission is to uphold and preserve a specific spiritual tradition. IMHO, nobody speaks more clearly and more universally.
I'm so glad you had him on! Thank you!

Amazing, thank u very much, lisas question was so inspiring for me, as i know what she said by heart.
itis Eckhart tolle he said this sentence that she mentioned about relationships, the inspiration here comes from the similarity between adya and eckhart teachings.
this gives me a hint of how all spiritual traditions really have the very same core but different contexts, expressions and language. Adya said the same thing, and added more insights on the topic which can be found exactly as eckhart put it, as it is one heart but different tongues, is not this amazing!?.
Thank u for the questioners the host and Adya 🙏🙏🙏 love to u all
