Sometimes dirt is the only thing holding old furniture together. You committed a labor of love restoring this bookshelf for your friend. Thanks to your efforts, she proudly can pass that piece of her family history down to the next generation.
Nice job Clara! The joys of makeover mistakes and we make plenty of them!🤣🤣 You overcame and this piece really turned out great! Always nice to save a sentimental piece!❤❤
It turned out great. I'm sure your friend really appreciated the effort & frustration you put into sacing the piece. Funny how some of the smallest things become our biggest challenges.
Glad you're back and this piece was the perfect piece to start out with(as far as furniture anyways lol) ....came out beautiful and this is definitely a Labor of Love. .Many blessings Claire,🙏🤩👍
That must have felt so deflating when the veneer came off. Good on you for sticking through it, even if because of a commission. Dashner Designs is a great channel for furniture makeovers if you haven’t already watched!
Thank you! …I’ve literally been trying to refinish a dresser (that I had gotten from my grandma) from the 1800s…. And it has taken me all summer…and I’m still not quite done!!! It was so comforting to see that others run into so many frustrating problems too!!!! The bookshelf looks beautiful! Wonderful job! (And thank you!)

ROFL. I'm sorry but I just love how you include your mistakes. Plus I have a piece that could be your's twin in dirt. Except it is also loaded with roach poo so I was thinking of hosing it. Thank you, I won't be doing that now. I didn't know about the wood paneling. Thank you again. Your efforts paid off. It's amazing! Hope I do half as well and with your same sense of humor.
I have had the same issues with my Wagner Double Duty. You really need to thin the paint and make sure your air pressure is adjusted each time. After using mine several times I am still trying to get the hang of it. Don't give up yet. Get yourself some cardboard and test spray!
That turned out fabulous! For the wax, next time you can heat a little up in the microwave to soften (just a little, like a couple of seconds) so it’s a little softer when applying 😉 I’m from Canada 🥶That’s a little trick I do! 🙃
Clara, I think it was pure genius using the hose. Think of all the time it saved you bye eliminating all the loose veneer 🤣👍. All joking aside very nicely done. Been lagging a bit in getting over here to watch but, congrats on breaking the 5K subs & we're nearing 10K!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey!!
I have the same sprayer and have to troubleshoot almost every time I use it. I haven't tried the ispray (larger) front end yet, I've stuck with the 'detail' front end, because I read the detail nozzle is better for a finer finish. regardless I find that this sprayer spits product out, especially poly, so I tend to start the sprayer off to the side, and then slowly move it toward the piece I'm painting. I still usually have a few chunks or runs to sand out, almost every time. love your content, and I look forward to your videos :)
Thanks, Ava! Good to know. Yes I tried both nozzles this time because the detail nozzle wasn't working. Probably just need to add QUITE a bit more water :)
"I think you should make mistakes" made my day. Thank you for saying that--I definitely needed to hear it.

Haha!! yes it is true. Dirt glue! Ha. Thanks for the kind words :)
We learn more from our mistakes than we ever do our successes. Turned out great in the end. I’m sure your friend will be delighted!
I totally agree. Thanks for sharing that perspective, Judy! I appreciate it!
Ah ! That’s Better !
Hope your customer loves it 👍

Thank you Tanya! I agree. Thanks for your support!
Wow! Huge difference. I like the simplicity of that piece; black is the right color.
Thanks, Kay! Yes, black is nice and sleek!
Those that don't make mistakes never try new things 😊

Lol, you're so funny! The moment I said, "Girl just use the back of a hammer!" when using those pliers, and then you realized 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahah! Took me a minute but I got it!!

totally. Thanks Cheryl!! I think I need a tutorial on the air pressure thing!

Great tip, Donna! I actually don't have a microwave but I'm sure I could at the LEAST leave it in the house to warm rather than in the garage!!! :)
🔨 just about spit my drink 😜
