Jefferson made a deal with the Federalists that he would leave the Federalist judges in place that they just appointed if he got the Presidency. He then reneged and that led to the case of Marbury v. Madison, which gave the Supreme Court the power to declare Laws unconstitutional. The reason that Jefferson asked Burr to run as VP was because Jefferson was considered a coward since he ran off when the British invaded Virginia, and Burr was one of the first heroes of the Revolution for his actions at Quebec, and his being in heavy combat for 5 years.
Burr doesn't know if Jefferson made a deal or not because he wasn't in the room where it happens, the room where it happens, the room where it happens....

I mean is there any evidence that that’s why he was his VP? I thought Burr was his VP because he managed to win NY state over to the republicans.
