Hi Noah just came across this Video and im thinking about buying one of the seishin dogi, u never did a final review video or I just didnt find it. Anyway can u recommend the seishin or one of them about the other and why? Keep it up :)
The Okinawa Edition is better than the classic, but I would say that, unless you are doing kata competitions all the time, get a KI Intl or Ronin Brand instead.
The Gi feels nice but I found it's quite hard to get the wrinkles out after washing. Also, when I got mine I did not receive a patch nor a certificate of authenticity. It came in the same bag as yours, although in an Amazon box. And yes, I ordered directly from his site...
Yeah, weird. Anyways, I got the Gi which is the most important thing. And I have to say that not only is the Gi comfortable (It has a great snap to it, feels thick but is not as heavy as others and I quite like the high waist on the pants too) but it is the only Gi I ever owned that fit like a glove right out of the box! If you can afford it, buy it. I don't think you will regret it.
I ordered mine directly via seishin-international.com almost two years ago and got the "patch" and certificate of authenticity. As I recall, if you ordered from the US website (seishinusa.com) you will get the same gi, but not the "patch" and certificate. You also won't have to pay the rather large import tax that I had to (and the UPS handling fee that goes with said tax). Also, mine was _not_ in an Amazon box and that yours was sounds... odd... at least in the context of the international website. Do you know, SechoDB, if you did the USA or international website? The FAQs of the two websites explain the "patch" and certificate. Oh... and kid's gis don't get the certificate. As for "holding up", mine has done extremely well, despite 2 years of Okinawan-style grappling and the like. I never untie my jacket or anything and life is good (then again, I like to have my belt semi-snug... I know that some people like their belts so loose that they are practically falling off... that's not me). As an aside, this is the first gi of mine that has lasted more than 6 months. Usually they start ripping around the 6 month time frame.
It does look like a very nice karategi, I take issue though with the logo embroidery in the back, is it nicely done? Yes but I feel there should be enough with the traditional tag in the front of the jacket bottom edge. A lot of karateka like the idea of embroidering name initials right where the manufacturer put their logo. To me that’s a no go.
Hi Noah, what would you say about the Seishin Gi after several years of use? What about durability, size, weight and comfort? Is it especial recommendable for summer use? Important: Does the Gi shrink much over the time? You are 6'1 - which size did you order? Thank you and cheers, Thomas
I have the 185cm size. It shrunk a bit, but not much, since I always hang dry my dogi. I can't wear the pants as high-waisted pants, because there isn't enough room in them, but otherwise the fit and comfort are good. The Okinawa Edition is better than the standard, and better in the summer than most dogi. Durability-wise, every heavyweight dogi I have owned has held up significantly better than Seishin, but Seishin is also made of thinner material.
@@ilpracticalkarate Thank you very much for the quick and informative reply. As much as I can see in your and in other videos the Dogi looks very leightweight. I‘m used to 14 ounces and I‘m not sure if I would get used to the thin fabric of the Seishin. Maybe yes. So you say the Okinawa Edition is better than the all cotton? Why that?
Hey Noah, I'm currently a begginer in Shito-Ryu and looking to get a Karategi. Any special brand/type you can recommend for someone on a budget? Thanks for your time and keep the videos up!
KI/Mugen is a good brand that can be had for a reasonable price. That's the standard we use with our students at the dojo, and most of the instructors stick with them as well
Wish I could afford on of these since I need a new Gi and I'm not sure could find a place to put my insulin pump with that wast band. I'm planing on getting a Juka Emerald since it comes recommended from a fellow student and it looks I can place my insulin on the waist band.
As I'm not terribly familiar with the complexities of insulin pumps, I'm afraid I'm not much help. I will say that the raised waistband has about 2" of extra material above the ties, and I would think that a tailor might be able to do something in that area to account for the pump?
Henrick Boot For sure I understand and agree with that. But snap is one of the features that all brands have and promote. Including the japanese ones so its one of the factors to analyse. Having 32 years of karate training, your developed kime can snap even a silk robe. But when comparing products, its a feature that indicates if its confortable, stiff, if it adapts well to the body and others. Best regards.
Shureido is the way to go

Noah, did you ever do an “update” video when you ripped the cuff halfway off?

Odd--I wasn't under the impression that I got anything out of the ordinary. Maybe yours was missed by accident?

@@ThoSchoholic the fabric is more durable, and the mesh lining helps keep you cooler
@@ilpracticalkarate Thanks man!

Santiago Agustin Perez there's Ronin Brand their uniform prices vary upon size. I was barely able to get off easy considering I'm a short guy
Santiago Agustin Perez u can get a kanku for about 50 bux its a great starter gi
Did you ever do a more detailed review of this? RUclips's search is tossing everything at your channel at me when I search for Seishin.
Not yet, because I'm putting it through the wringer first. I caused my first damage to it last time I went to the dojo
Thanks for the response. I appreciate it and the work that you're putting it through.
Certificate of authenticity for why, that extra $100?
Hi, do you plan on posting a final review? I saw on another comment that you were able to damage it, but I'd like to hear more.
I admit that I am very bad at doing follow up videos. Sorry! I will try to do that along with my video on the Seishin Okinawa Edition soon
@@ilpracticalkarate Thank you very much! Definitely look forward to that Okinawa Edition, too.
@@ilpracticalkarate you never did it Dx
@@Sylum94 true--I got quite busy! I will say that the Okinawa Edition held up better!
@@ilpracticalkarate I do have a question. In your mma fight I noticed you didnt fight in a wide stance. Any reasons why? I'm curious to know. Thanks!

After talking to the wife we are going to order a Seishin and see if it will work.
I have a couple magen as well this is dope
I'm 60 inches at the waist, 5'2', and a college student. Recommend a gi for me?
Something like a Ronin Brand or KI Intl
How long was shipping
I honestly don't remember. Sorry!
how abaout snapping when compared to japanese brands?
I don't really compare "snap" all that much, since I don't compete, but I suppose it is less snappy than a Shureido, but still pretty snappy.
Thank you. I’m considering buying one but I’m waiting for your endurance veredict...
