You might have missed it, but at the end of “million flowers”, Trinity replies to Laylow with “I saw your flowers, and it had no effect on me. It’s too late, and it is better that way.” (Maybe it has no effect because she is not a real human? My interpretation).
Anyway, this destroys all of Laylow’s last hopes and hence he finishes the album with the song “logiciel triste” (sad software), where he expresses his grief and anger. This is one of my favorite song on the album, you might want to check it out too!
In my opinion this album is truly a work of art, it creates a entire universe and story, and makes you the listener feel the emotions of the protagonist at a deep level, and it raises important questions and themes (in my last paragraph).
As some might have mentioned, the story is inspired from the Matrix but also from the film “Her”. Laylow starts in a dark place which he describes in “dehors dans la night” (outside in the night), then falls in love with Trinity (which seems like she is a fictional person in a software but in fact Trinity IS the software, an emotion-manipulation software designed to make him feel love). She makes him feel great, and their “compatibility” increases throughout the album (he goes to “Trinityville” where he has sex with her on the parking lot) until the climax where the software overheats and crashes in “Akanizer”. At the end of the album, he is back in the same dark place where he started, probably even more sad to have known and lost this impossibly perfect version of love, and there is no hope left.
There is also a deeper analysis where Trinity can be thought of as a representation of social media nowadays - which truly are “emotion manipulation software” designed to trigger your brain’s pleasure center with notifications of fake love from strangers. Just like Trinity’s love, the fame and love you get from social media is unhealthy and can disappear at any moment, leaving you more alone and sad than you started with.
Anyway, I hope you see this message! I truly love your content, it’s so exciting to see someone from another culture be so thorough and interested in their reactions to French rap (most people miss 90% of it but you don’t). Keep up the good work!
