    Hi. I'm so glad you're discussing outdoor events and I want to run a scenario by you that is giving me anxiety and maybe you can shed some light on what we can do. My sister and I started doing balloon displays in December of 2020, so we're certainly rather new at this. We both work full-time jobs and we do these displays in the evenings and weekends. We have a customer who is requesting a balloon garland for a pool party. The problem is: The party is on a Friday, so we can't build/connect the garland the day of the event because we work. We would have to build/connect the night before. I already told the customer that it's not recommended for balloons to be outside in Florida weather all night into the next day. I told her about oxidation and how balloons expand in the heat and typically pop. I even offered her columns that we can deliver the night before and she can bring them outside before her guests arrive. I can't seem to make her understand. Should I say, "Thank you for the opportunity, but maybe you should contract someone else that can build your garland the day of your event" Most of our jobs are word of mouth and I don't want someone disparaging our work despite the fact that we made her aware of what could happen. Sorry for the lengthy message, I just want to know how to handle this type of scenario. Thank you.

      Your videos make me want to start back up. I read my comment over again and was like dang that sounds so sad lol. I got started because I had a daughter and wanted balloons for her party and was taken aback when I was quoted prices. I decided to learn myself and then other ppl started asking me for my services. I was undercharging for sure. It was a bit overwhelming and I totally understand why the prices for these types of things are what they are. Learning from your videos is definitely helpful. Hopefully I’ll get the courage to start up again. Thank you again for your transparency and honesty

    • @YesEventDecor
      @YesEventDecor  3 года назад +4

      I completely understand.
      Pricing is one of the biggest hurdles in this business. It’s so complex. There’s a lot that goes into it. And it’s not cheap! A lot of people want to hire an event decorator on a DIY budget.
      Once I came to the realization that this is a luxury service, things changed for me. I don’t chase clients who have unrealistic budgets anymore. If clients want luxury and convenience, they have to pay for it. Otherwise, they can always decorate their event themselves.

    My first event was indoor. A guest came and loved it and gave me a job. It was outdoor omg. It was so pretty but in TX it’s hot, it’s orotund her door, command tapes melted in the heat and it was a disaster. It fell down. I did it a 2nd time and it was the same thing. I reinforced it and the glue still melted. After that I gave up on my dreams. Well I was requested to do another event and the patio was wood and I was able to use nails and they stayed up but the balloons burst because of the heat. I’m not even doing outdoor anymore
