Any drone with a shaped charged, is always best at the weakest part of the armoured vehicle; the top. So long as the shaped charge has enough copper and explosive behind it, it can penetrate through the top.

It is a design compromise because of the urban environment requirements for the Merkava and Namor . In open terrain the Merkava and Namor would be at a disadvantage but in the urban environment they have an advantage.

The first 211 of them were completely built in Lima and then the money ran out on the contract so Israel had just the hulls made in one big run of close to 100 with the remaining funds. All of the newest ones produced in Israel are made with US made hulls, armor plate, engines and tracks etc.
