I get very annoyed with companies that try to sell their products with misleading information. The bottle (500ml PureVis) holds 500ml, but if you fill it with exactly that volume, you won't be able to put the cap on. And if you read the manual you will see the text "Fill with clear water up to the indicator line". And that line is about 10mm above the Larq logo on the bottle. Yes, the line that lies far below the bottleneck. So the volume you can fill the bottle and get it working is around 370ml (which is 26% less than the stated 500ml). They never tell any buyer that, so most users are probably using this bottle incorrectly...
I own both the 25oz and the 32oz bottles. I like knowing that they "clean" themselves, but I have to admit, I just love drinking out of the insulated metal bottles (they stay cold FOREVER!), and despite their self cleaning ability, I'm not the greatest housekeeper, but I'm really big on cleanliness with my kitchen and anything I'm going to eat or drink, so I still give them a regular washout myself with antibacterial dish soap.
I find our technological progress fascinating, and enjoy science, engineering and history/human culture. These UV bottles can clean themselves, as long as the water inside isn't from a lake. :) When I was 13 or so, I thought of an idea of a water bottle that could use a low power UV tube light to clean germs from spit backwash and stuff. Then, 5 years later in the late 2010s, I looked up if a bottle has been invented, and apparently LARQ did it back in 2017. So, an idea that I had 9-10 years ago, came into fruition by another company. I commend LARQ for their efforts, a small newcomer business, though the bottle costs $100. Lol... Whew, that is pricey. Guess I'll have to wash my regular bottle by hand for a few more years ;)
I am lucky to live in the highlands of scotland and our tap water comes from the mountains so i dont need this bottle, i have traveled the world and can say for a fact our water is the best, you really do enjoy a glass of pure water
I bought a larq bottle so that I can use it in Indonesia filling it up with their local bottled water. I think buying it to use for tap water is great but there are other materials in tap water like metals from the pipes that cannot be controlled through UV light sanitation.
@@kingspina1781the issue is not pipes but certain older lead/cadmium pipes. These pose health risk. New factories use non degrading pipes. They also get replaced regularly hence why bottled water is very safe.
Pretty sure it does all of it, the guy that founded the company his friend works at cal tech and they developed the invention it’s not just a UV light it disperses the rays equally on all surfaces including the cap
I have this bottle but inside the cap inside ended up being disgusting with the paint peeling off. Got a replacement last year and now it’s starting again. It’s really not worth buying if this rubbish keeps happening.
Tap water is treated with chlorine and flouride to treat and kill bacteria etc. That being said water filters are designed to filter out heavy metals and this already filtration tech will also kill bacteria aswell. So what is the parts per million filtration rating on this bottle? Brita is 6PPM and Zero water filter is 0 PPm why doesnt anyone talk about metal ppm ratings with this bottle? Seems like a bit of a scam tbh
bro smell your bottle water after using it smells like your breath or something funky even if you put new water that has chlorine your saliva your mouth can get into your water bottle then making it throw it away yes you can clean dish washer it but im to lazy for that and hate cleaning water bottle then water taste like soap

I wonder if it removes the smell of protein shake after couple of times, because thats the only reason i would buy. My usual shakers smell disgusting after couple of drinks even after being washed in the dishwasher.
If you keep purifying it enough, the bacteria will get killed off before they have a chance to reproduce. So yes, you would drink the dead bacteria, but it wouldn't be very much.
Just know that no matter how great it works it doesn't matter because they oversold themselves on Shark Tank and supply chain problems don't begin to describe their problem. You will also wait weeks for a customer service response. I purchased mine in May and didn't receive for 6 months. My first filter needed replacement, I've now been waiting on a replacement filter for 1.5 months. I strongly advise you to look anywhere else for a product you can actually use.
House hold tap water has up to 7% chlorine and bleach in it to kill bacteria. This is using simply uv light, which would also diminish the bleach and chlorine in your water. Tap water should really be filtered one way or another, and this way is very, very convenient and consistent.
@Dream Seriously??? I hope you are joking. if you cannot see the advantage of having a single cable for all your devices. I would give you that it only needs charging once a month so you can generally travel without its cable (micro usb ) lack of usb-c is also a deal breaker even if the technology here did work which is far from proven...
If it is $100, it should use USB-C and have solar panels on the cap to charge in the sun. :) Other than that, it is a cool device, but I am not gonna pay $100 until it has solar panels to recharge the battery.
Yesi hate cleaning my water bottle too. I justify with i only use purified poland spring bottle . But i never clean it maybe like 3 times a year max... Thinking about getting one of these
If your out in the woods and you wanted drinking water from a stream, you would want a good water filter for the water first(to remove particulates). Then fill your Larq bottle from that filtered water and cleanse the bacteria and viral contaminates that are left.
uv light kills the bacterias ability to reproduce also. its the same as if you had your normal water you usually drink but the bacteria does not reproduce

Won’t bacteria grow on the area you drink from? And does the UV light only eradicate bacteria inside the water bottle?

is it really that hard to swish and shake your water bottle with soap and water every couple days?
You spend more on bottle water a year and this is an investment plus you can filter any water even your toilet and drink it
It's about pure water not only a clean bottle.
Did you even watch the video before you commented? LOL because cleaning your bottle SURE does also clean and purify the water you put in it? Durrr
Yes, it really is something extra to think about. I already have enough on my plate & I drink water all day everyday
The only downside of the Bottle Cap is its Micro-USB interface. I am not sure if its rated to handle wet environment or being washed.
Don't you still have to clean the part that your lips touch?
No sir
If the bottle is dirty and it's cleaning itself with the water that you're supposed to be drinking aren't you drinking dirty water anyway 🤔 ?
it'll save me money over time I spend 20 a month on cases of water
There are minerals and chemicals that UV light cannot purify. Just a heads up.
Filter from Larq does, though
