  • Ever heard this song? It has some of the most beautiful lyrics, especially important after Christmas is over!!!
    Merry Christmas to all. Leave a comment letting me know what you'd like me to Barbershop next!
    Words and Music by Sammy Cahn and James Van Heusen
    Arranged by Jim Clancy
    Sound Engineered by Kyle Hottel
    Lyrics:
    May your days be merry and bright,
    and may all your Christmases be white.
    It's not the glow you feel when snow appears;
    It's not the Christmas card you've sent for years;
    Not the joyful sound when sleigh bells ring,
    or the merry song children sing.
    The little gift you send on Christmas day
    will not bring back the friends you've turned away.
    So may I suggest the secret of Christmas
    is not the things you do at Christmas time,
    but the Christmas things you do all year through.
    May your days be merry and bright
    (Baritone: MEEEERRRYY AND BRIIII-I-I-IIIGHT)
    And may all your Christmases be whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite (be white).

    Lovely presentation of a beautiful song. This is the Clancy arrangement and is widely sung and the Steinkamp arrangement is different but lovely as well. With your amazing vocal control, I would love to hear you sing "Oh Suzanna, dust off that old pianna". Thank you again for this beautiful message at Christmas time......from another barbershop John

    Our chorus sings this same arrangement and it's one of my favourites. Very nicely done!

    Amazing! I really love the solo section that started at 1:05. Also, really loved the chords at 2:08. I never heard this one before but it has a great message. Way to go John and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

    Hi! Um.. Would you consider teachung us how to "Barbershop Quartetify" a pop song?
    Like, how do you know which notes to use? Sorry, I'm completely new to this so I don't really know if my question cpuld be answered through common sense or not.
    I mean, my idea was to take the lead melody of the song, and get the third higher of the lead, and then the bass of the note.
    Not sure if that would work, and my main problem is what note to use for the baritone. ✌😅

      Hey Angelo! That's a great question, but very complicated. I may be able to answer it in a future video.
      Short version is in Barbershop, you have to use the circle of fifths and lots of dominant seven chords, so simply putting the bass on the root and the tenor a third above the lead won't give you the old sound you're looking for.
      One thing is for aure, nobody ever really knows where to put the baritone anyway ;)
