My Azumarill is in there!!! :] Hahaha. All the battles from that '14 tournament will be on my channel way back in the depths! Cybertron and myself have used it a lot in the MBL both seasons too!
Nice job man! Don’t know why I didn’t notice this comment on the first watch of this video (probably cuz of the suggestion spam now that I think about it lol)
Yeah if you look at it's stats BST 420 is not that high. They did that on purpose. I'll put more HP on the thing 20 points. Maybe 10 points on Attack and Special Attack.
I loved Azumarill when it first came out even though it was horrible competitively. Azumarill is an interesting specimen to observe how Pokemon mechanics have changed over time. The introduction of abilities, the special / physical attack split, how breeding and egg moves worked, and the new Fairy typing all changed the metagame. It's also gotten a lot of Dynamax attention in Gen 8 as well. It warms my heart to see the blue egg get a small boost every gen before eventually becoming the OU beast it is today.
In Gen 8, Azumarill is still an OU staple like in Gen 7, didn't receive much changes though. Maybe that a defensive Sap Sipper set was discovered, with Whirlpool and Perish Song.
Besides its Competitive Viability, Azumarill is also very good as a playthrough Pokemon in its Gen games, if you did not pick a Water starter. I love it
I really like this video, cause it's good to see a Pokemon from previous generations who have been treated actually well by the new meta. Watching mons who were OU falling right into oblivion makes refreshing the rise of Azurrill as a real menace as the generations passes by.
Azumarill is actually an amazing sweeper in the Gen 7 metagame. Huge Power + Belly Drum + Aqua Jet = GG, if you don't have a specific counter for him he wrecks like hell.
I'd love to see an analysis of the current metagame in gen-7. I know you've already done something similar to this for gen 1, but a gen by gen breakdown of the competitive metagame would be fascinating to supplement the breakdowns of individual pokemon.

Physical HP Ghost! Illegal Egg Move combinations! These videos make me oddly nostalgic for past-gen metas. It's a great retrospective of just how much has actually changed in Pokémon over the years, despite the battle system being built off the same core used in RBY.
I used it as a HM slave... And only realised how strong huge power was when dig and strength were doing more damage than surf and dive. I also loved hearing its beautiful cry when I used surf and dive in the water, you don't get that in the new games now.
Azumarill isn't doing very well in Generation 7 due to the introduction of priority immunity and the Tapu can either counter it (Koko, Bulu) or check Azumarill (Lele, Fini). I actually tried using Azumarill in Gen 7 doubles, but it turns out Azumarill isn't good unless Trick Room is up, so I swapped it for Assault Vest Kyurem-Black (yeah, that's a thing).
HeatEdgeSucks In USUM, Azumarill got an even better physical Water type move; Liquidation. With Liquidation instead of Waterfall, Azumarill can actually OHKO even Slowbro and Ferrothorn with it in the rain if given a Choice Band. I know, cause I've done it.

Most mons from the early gens have been getting worse over time due to powercreep (like tauros) but Azumarill pretty much just got better and better as it got more things. Z moves also help it quite a bit in gen 7, though as of now it's fallen down to BL.
Azumarill has slowly become a must have water type for me. I first started using it in gen 4 when it started getting good. I haven't stopped since. Even when I've tried using a different water type just to change it up and explore other options, I always end up coming back to Azumarill. I love you, Azumarill!
Donphan has had some times where it has been one of the best spinners and times where it has felt underpowered. It is indeed an interesting pokemon in the meta. Not too powerful but still a solid spinner and hazard setter through the years...
Azumarill was the very first pokemon I had ever seen in my entire life when I was either 3 or 4 I was watching my brother play Emerald when he encountered an Azumarill I was immediately hooked on the game and have been a huge pokemon and Azumarill fan ever since
How good was the original uber. One of the most powerful Pokemon ever, able to take advantage of its huge movepool and psychic typing since the days of RBY. The one that everyone shudders in fear of! The great, the legendary... MEW! Just Mew.
Azumarill is definitely one of my favorite mons to use, especially in Gen 7. Unless you play competitive, you aren’t gonna know about it. With its ability Huge Power, it basically has base 100 Attack stat. Which is pretty good, but not fantastic or anything. However, it’s very bulky, & can use Belly drum. In Gen 7, if you use a Normal Z Crystal, you can use Belly drum no matter how low it’s HP is. It brings it’s HP all the way back up, then to half, like if you used it at the beginning of the battle. Then just aqua jet everything to death. I’ve beaten so many teams full of ubers with this cute little blue bunny lol
尤銓譽 I’m genuinely confused, how does it go up to 150? It’s regular attack is 50, so I thought Huge Power doubled it to 100? This is a serious question, I’m not being sarcastic or anything lol
@@toxicperson8936 let me show you the calc. 50 base atk will transfer into 218 atk at lv100, 31iv, 252 ev, and plus attack nature(adamant, lonely etc.) After huge power, it's whooping 436atk. A Zekrom (150 base atk) with same iv ev and nature will have 438 atk. In comparison, a Mew (100base atk) with same condition only have 328atk. Hope that I helped.
'base stats' are just a comparison number with other mons, not the actual stats. it doubles the actual attack stat. so 200atk would be 400atk and so on.
@@toxicperson8936 Azumarill's base attack stat is 50. If you breed an Azumarill with max IVs in Attack, train it to 252 EVs in attack, and give it an adamant nature, those boosts are added to its attack stat. Huge Power then doubles its attack at the end, not at the beginning before the IV / EV / nature boosts. It doesn't only double its base attack but also doubles the effect of any attack boosts it gets. If you want a comparison in math, it's (50 + 25) x 2 = 150, not 50 x 2 + 25 = 125. Though obviously the actual calculations are more complex than that. That's why Azumarill hits as hard as most legendary Pokemon. And yes, huge power doubles the effect of belly drum too. Belly Drum gives a pokemon x3 in attack while Azumarill gets x6 in attack from it.
@@kefkapalazzo1 no. Azuril has a different gender ration to its evolutions. 25/75 as opposed to 50/50. So it's more like a 30% chance as 1/3 will turn male on evolving. This doesnt work from gen six onwards tho
Not exactly. All female Azurill had a 1/3 chance of becoming male during evolution, due to Azurill's gender ratio being different from its evolutions'. This does no longer happen from Gen 6 onward.
I actually prefer using sap sipper azumarill on my rain team instead of huge power one because nobody expects it and they would hit azumarill with leaf storm(if serperior) or with power whip(if ferrothorn) and after that my azumarill would basically become a super Saiyan.

meganium went from bad to worse every single gen, feraligatr was meh until gen 6 and typhlosion is a mono type fire with a bad movepool and average stats, most people think that gen 2 starters where the worse of all
In X and Y this thing was fantastic for the Maison. I hadn't played since Gen 2 and didn't know about half of its moves. I ran it with Belly Drum, Aqua jet, Play Rough and Superpower(?), then gave it the Splash Plate. Was a complete beast and held up alright when fighting randoms on the train, would obviously fall flat against people who knew about competent switching and team comps.
Hey man nice video as always, but 1 correction. You said huge power got its attack stat to 100?? No it much better than that. From my calculations it should be 152 or something. It doubles the regular stats of the pokémon. I did this cal if it was lvl 100

do raichu for pokemon and pikachu for smash bros
edit: also breifly explaining and comparing alolan and regular raichu would also be appreciated
TheAwkwardCharizard
my favorite Pokemon!!!!! Raichu!!!!!!
It’s wild how some mons just get better and better and most just get worse through the years.
How GOOD was Pikablu ACTUALLY?
Belly drum azumarill was a cornerstone of my X and Y competitive team. Love it
I have limited knowledge of competitive pokemon, but I have seen Weezing being in quite a few videos, either as a check or an outright counter, so I would like to see Weezing please!(P.S: Also How good was Umbreon actually?)
you did good today false swipe you did good
How good was Meganium, Typhlosion and Feraligatr actually?
I'd rather use bayleef with an evolit it was a good setup, for me johto startes weren't that great in competitive
meganium went from bad to worse every single gen, feraligatr was meh until gen 6 and typhlosion is a mono type fire with a bad movepool and average stats, most people think that gen 2 starters where the worse of all
Even unova starters were better than johto one imo if johto starters had a secondary type they could be good
In X and Y this thing was fantastic for the Maison.
Ampharos Ampharos Ampharos Ampharos Ampharos Ampharos c'mon everyone, lets go Ampharos.
Did it already
@@AlphaladZXA The comment was from two years ago, it hadn't been done yet.
Dragon types: [Shivering and bowing down] All Hail PokeGod.
Pikablue: *NYEEES*
Can you do some legendarys please ( like ubers)
Hey man nice video as always, but 1 correction. You said huge power got its attack stat to 100?? No it much better than that. From my calculations it should be 152 or something. It doubles the regular stats of the pokémon. I did this cal if it was lvl 100
