This was chef's kiss of this discussion. I especially liked hearing Mathew saying he wrote Alex's scene of coming out to Elken as he wished it would have been for him. And then the last scene where they talked about all the disenfranchised people that need to be taken care of in the future.

The book and the film have created their own momentum and are affecting lives so positively, and to a far greater extent than could ever have been expected, however much hoped for. Distance has shown how people of all persuasions and around the world have reacted so positively to Alex and Henry, and how it has touched so many lives , and will do again when the sequel delivers; I hope it has the growth and maturity, the development and the jeopardy and conflict needed to reflect real life as the boys move forward, and not just go for sentiment and simple happy ever after. With the same creatives in charge I am sure it is going to be as unique as their evolving story as it will be a unique queer sequel. Because the point of happy ever after is always the point where the real story starts. To go back and do it all again takes nerve, commitment and no small amount of courage. And hopefully is an inspiration to help heal America and stop the slide backwards. As Uma Thurman said: "Hope and love is an option, and we just need to hang in there."
