Thx for this. The guy starting his arpeggios from the root was me. Soooooooo helpful.
I find these lessons so valuable, not only for electric mandolin, but also for my trumpet playing.
Good job explaining the 9th arpeggio trick brother Richie Zellon, I'll make a point to include it on my practice time.
Thanks bro!
What a neat concept! I've heard of starting from the 3rd, or 7th, but this sounds even nicer. Thank you!
What a great hack...! Thank You!
Thanks for throwing that musical brick to my head... the best video to me personally... bless you!!! Millions!!!
Ouch!!! Hope it didn't hurt but you're welcome....by the way, I like your username "organo de flaco" .....ja,ja :)
I'm not into jazz guitar but always trying to expend my knowledge. This lesson sure adds something to that. It makes me think about theory and how to use it.
Really cool! Thank you!
Beautiful
Thanks for such a nice lesson Richie. This trick is indeed like magic! And as always delivered clearly and with a strong foundation.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much!!
thnx
great lesson, good work
be safe, be happy, work hard
peace \m/
thanks, a cool concept. definitely more of a jazz sound. this was a very useful lesson.
Glad you liked it!
Another secret of improv revealed by the master. Thanks Richie!
amazing playing, amazing explanation! Thanks a ton!
Magic
Nice lesson thank you!
I'm just beginnin explore 251 this is a good step forward for me
Thank you so much for a fantastic lesson,
Gonna play around with this 9th idea, THANKS Richie!
Always a pleasure to learn from you Richie, nice and slow and explained so well. Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Agree 👍
What a great tip. Thanks for this!
I found that exchanging the 9 for the root on a 251 will create 3 new chords. The ii7 becomes IVmaj7. The V7 becomes vii7b5. The Imaj7 becomes vi7.
I can see that with the 2 and the 5, but doesn’t that make the I (now D-E-G-B) a iii7, rather than vi7?
Yes, you are correct. I stand corrected! Thank you! I think Richie is the best teacher on RUclips. This particular lesson lead me to using the iii pentatonic scale on Maj 7th chords.
Once again, amazing work, sir. I was recently confounded by some Maj7(9) chords in a tune; this is SUPER helpful.
Thanks Jay, glad it was helpful!
Extra nice lesson. I appreciate you doing it for us.
My pleasure!
Awesome as always!
Cheers Richie! 👍
Fantastic ! I swear, you & Merrill Fankhauser should start a "Nice Guys" Guitar School - him on Surf & you on Jazz. You are both the ultimate in "Very Diplomatic". TYVM
Nice, Richie! Thank you!
fabulouse lesson, Richie! I already learned something cool and useful right at the 3:20 mark... nice!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video !!
I think I heard a touch of Wes's Satin Doll dolo around 5:29....Ah! You confirmed.
nice
This great video
I’m a metal guitarist, and I’ll stay a metal guitarist. But I’m interested in expanding my horizons. I can do my blues, but jazz is... something else.
Where do I start with learning jazz? And do you know chord shapes I could use with a lot of gain that’ll still sound cool?
Can do same thing except exchange the 5th with the # 11 instead .
.... if you switch the 5 for a sharp 11 ( F sharp in key if C major) that would infer a Lydian sound in the context of a major scale. If you did same with a dominant chord then that would produce a Lydian dominant sound. On a minor chord I guess this would produce a half diminished sound. So it seems like this change has a more powerful effect on the tonality then swapping a 1 for a 9?
Vêtu interesting
Don't get me wrong, I like the lesson, but I am tired of the overused click bait word "trick" in the title.
It's not a trick it's a musical concept
