Omgosh, so cute guys so cute. Thanks for the learning experience. They were so calm, well at least sat good for the video. Haha, chocolate covered ferrets, that was funny. I love them all.
yes!, you are correctI I was trying to keep the video from getting too long lol: but their scientific name: Mustela Putorius Furo does mean stinky weasel thief, while just the word ferret is derived from the latin word 'furittus', which is little thief. It's amazing how accurate their scientific name is in describing them!
That's a very good question! Ferrets shake for a variety of different reasons; and it's good to know those reasons. They often shake when first waking up; it's a way to help their bodies heat back up. Insulinoma can also be a cause for shaking. Insulinoma causes low blood sugar which can cause shaking, which would definitely be a reason to take them to the vet! (Kreacher, our dark sable-colored ferret has insulinoma, and sometimes does shake.) Ferrets can also shake out of fear and excitement. For your specific question, Winky was just waking up. I have a bad habit of filming videos during the day when they are sleeping; so I often wake them up for an appearance.
Thanks I was worried that something was wrong and I’ve heard of ferret shaking because of insulinoma but not because of waking up so that’s why I asked and I haven’t learned about that yet so thanks
