I saw the dude after the accident at wheels in motion motorcycle shop and he said his tire was cold. He was ok and I'm glad he was cuz this can happend to the rest of us. Stay safe fellow riders.
The speed limit is 45mph. This guy managed to slide his bike 250 feet UPHILL after gassing the throttle at 40 degrees of lean and low siding. Cold tyres had nothing to do with it. Stupidity and poor skill was the problem, and nothing else.
I don't think that it was the reason, he was putting a lot of angle pressure and hard accelerating at same time, instead of break, cut acceleration, read the turn and accelerate once he was getting out of turn with less angle and more stability, even professionnal bikers break like crazy befor any turn, start reading it with stable acceleration " very gentle one " and once out of it they start get up and accelerate hard!
Dude just didn't want to admit he messed up. You can hear him grab a fist full of throttle during the time he had the least amount of traction reserves.
The bike slided that long because it was supported by the left slider. You didn't even get to see that side so please don't talk about what you don't know. Frame sliders aren't only installed to protect the bike plastics. They also make some ground clearance when the bike is tipped so your leg don't get trapped under the bike.
Here in Portugal it´s mandatory that all corner guardrails have either another rail or a special metal sheet underneath, designed to prevent damages like those to the bikes and major injuries to the riders in case they slide under que top rail. This protection system should be mandatory everywhere all over the world.
HarbingerOfAbaddon it's called personal responsibility. i wear full gear, but i don't think it should be a law. there have been a few times i rode my bike down the street to park without a helmet. i assumed the risk. i don't need a $500 "reminder" to tell me to protect myself
an50331 You can't fully assume the risk of not wearing a helmet. States enact helmet laws for financial reasons. they know that those who survive traumatic head injuries have only about a 50% chance of supporting themselves again. the rest become a burden on the state. Do you have personal long term care insurance?
Alberto Knox Yes, I have long term insurance. I'm not saying states should or shouldn't have helmet laws, I'm just pointing out that riders should always protect themselves, regardless of the law. I witnessed a fatal motorcycle accident when a driver pulled in front of a motorcycle travelling at 45mph. The rider wasn't wearing protective gear helmet and died when he hit the ground. On the other hand, a old friend of my family's was involved in an accident at 60mph when he clipped a doghouse on his motorcycle and was knocked off, but he walked away with only minor injuries because he was wearing protective gear.
Shame :( The reason the Fireblade didn't start is it has an electronic device in the nose cone that detects an extreme lean angle (something like 75 degrees tilt). If it's too far over then it'll cut the engine automatically. With the nose cone smashed, the device was hanging which is why it wouldn't start even after the bike was back on it's wheels
blueisbetter100 Honestly i prefer having my bike in a repairable state with oil all over the place that can be cleaned up, rather than a totaled bike because of frame sliders

+Kid574 Damage in here is actually not as bad as you think. It's plastics, cowl and a light assembly if the fork's fine. Get multi compound sliders if you're scared of endless sliding. I lowsided my r1 in a relatively lower speed and dropped it in a parking lot. All I had was just a few scratches on the end of the brake lever, footpeg and on the side of the rear tire. Take it from that point, they saved me 2 times from a fairing replacement.
