- Installing Minn Kota Copilot System, Part Number: 2377122 onto a Powerdrive V2 Trolling Motor. Simple, quick installation that adds remote control capabilities to your trolling motor!
This is quite possibly the easiest DIY project video I have done since starting this channel. The end result is a trolling motor capable of being controlled by either a foot pedal OR a remote control.

*This makes my old motor look like a toy **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it's well built. I haven't had it on the water yet, but I'm very sure it will perform just fine.*
I looking at one of these. Can anyone tell me why the autoboat system is like 5 times more money??
Do you mean the I-Pilot system? It's more expensive because it's worth it. I-Pilot gives you GPS autopilot as well as speed and direction control. It also enables spotlock which will keep your boat in basically the same spot without having to mess with the trolling motor.
I've ran both. I'd never go back to copilot after using I-Pilot.
Great video. Thinking of this for my Powerdrive. The only problem I see is no auto deploy for a solo boat launch...meaning you have to deploy trolling motor before launching boat but you can't with trailer in the way or you gotta get wet.
Trust me, I would LOVE to have an Ulterra with auto stow and deploy as well as power trim... The problem is the price. I just can't bring myself to drop that kind of cash. I'll have one eventually though.
Thank for the install video,,, seen one where the idiot took the control module off the plate because he couldn’t get the plate to mount to side of the trolling motor without the existing plate in place. To spite that it still had a gap with just the old plate and module mounted 😂. Once again thank you for doing it the right way 👍🏼
Thanks for watching. I appreciate your feedback.
Can u juts remove the foot pedal if u don’t want it on there with the copilot?
Yes you can disconnect the foot pedal I ran mine that way
Wow I did not expect an answer on such a old video. U are the man!!
@@Phokings well, thank you! I appreciate you watching and I hope it helped you out.
QUICK & EASY
My (V2) has "auto pilot" compass feature which has a on/off switch on top of the head. Can I still install the "copilot" assembly and use it to remotely control speed and on/off while using the "auto pilot" compass feature?
Hola quería saber si se puede montar tu sistema en mi power drive v2 24v 70 lbs, es que tengo dudas porque hay modelos 12v y no quiero estropear la pieza
Bought a used copilot and it didnt come with new screws. Any idea on the length needed to attach it?
You are incorrect about the iPilot taking away the foot pedal control. It's easy to keep the foot pedal option. Install a on-off switch in the red wire connections, then wire the black wires to each other permanently. That way you can switch back from the iPilot to the foot pedal. I'm surprised Minn-Kota does not tell people that.
Tvideo true. But without modification, the ipilot takes away the foot pedal option. Minn Kota likely doesn't tell customers because they don't want the warranty claims when people foul it up.
Tvideo, Have you made of video explaining how to make the modifications. I would like to install a switch on my ipilot setup. Thanks
There are already videos here on how to do it.
@@tomomeara7083 , i have looked for modifying videos with no luck. Could you send me a link please. I would appreciate it. Thanks
No time to search for the video, but all that is needed is to splice an on off on switch to the red wires, then connect the black wires together permanently.
I have a V2 but its not blue tooth compatible. Can i still add the remote to my trolling motor
Yes. Neither of mine are Bluetooth compatible either. You just have to get the legacy copilot system.
Will this go on a regular powerdrive?
They make a copilot system for the legacy powerdrive trolling motors. If yours has the flat connector for the foot pedal, it should work. Just check your year.
My powerdrive v2 is pre 2017 with the round connector for the foot pedal. And I have auto pilot. I guess it will still work. What year is your V2?
