  • Storms off Alaska created 50 foot swells on the ocean which translated to 10-13 foot swells along the west coast a few days later. Many of the piers along the California coast were closed off and were damaged during this storm.

Christmas week 2020. Huge waves at Morro jetty. Looked just as big as these. The sound of the waves breaking on the jetty was very impressive.

Thats normal at morro bay, the waves are always big on the other side of the rocks.

Depends on your definition of "normal." This will happen a couple/few times a year, but on an average day the waves are a fraction of the size.

Reno Gregory Most the time I visited since I was 6 years old from Fresno they have been huge, made the mistake climbing the rocks at 9 once then got hit by one of those huge waves, got cut up by the rocks and barnicles befor falling into the harbor, man that hurt.To this day I avoid the jettys even when the waves are small, waves pack a powerful punch and barnicles hurt.
