- The picturesque Buren is hidden on the Korte, a tributary of the Linge. This fortified town has a rich history, in which the House of Orange played an important role. Not only did William of Orange marry Anna van Egmont there in 1551, but today King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima are still the Count and Countess of Buren. And the town has many more surprising things to offer! For example, one of the largest castles in the Netherlands once stood here and you can enjoy walking and cycling in and around the town. You will also find a wide range of shops here where you can have a great time browsing! There is something for everyone.
