KB1:How to Replace Timing Belt & Water Pump on an Acura RL

- This is an informational video to provide the best DIY tips for performing this big service at home. Most videos are shown being done at a shop but here I acknowledge that not all people have the luxury of affording a shop. Some of us also are gear heads and want to be the only one's to work on our cars. This video should be helpful for any Honda/Acura with a J-series V6 engine #j30 #j32 #j35 #j37

Wow, thought I was the only one still crazy about my RL.
You’re not alone
Mee too😊
Shoot, just got mine last December 2023, 2008 KB1, 50k miles.
So great to see all the high mileage examples still running strong, they are awesome machines 👍
Handling it next week.
Always appreciate it, Dr.RL
Always here to help
Great content awesome work on the RL looking forward to future work
Thank you kindly, I too look forward to bringing more and more content.
Thanks for making RL content. It's not many that's out there. I got an 06 w/ 175k miles 🤞🏼my first time doing water pump and timing service.
It’s my pleasure man, I make these videos for guys like us. My 05 RL has 293k
I can't seem to get my crank pulley bolt off I tried hella times but it won't loosen battery may not be strong enough. Is there another way with a weak battery?
@@dj_d.r.a.e. do you know another method?
@@user-kr5wj3dh1l use the Honda crank pulley holder method. That worked for me today on a k24 accord

What interval? Every 100K? Curious to know how you do the dif oil change. I've only found a couple videos on here of people doin that. Not a lot of repair videos on this car in general, would like to see more. Stay up Kb1Gang.
Yes every 100k is ideal, and I’ll for sure make a differential fluid change video. Thank you for your support
What torque specs for engine mounts ?
great video where are you located?
Thank you, located in Connecticut
Ik its been a while but I was wondering two things. 1 What timing belt/ water pump kit did you use? (Only 6 minutes into the video so sorry if u already answered that). 2. I'm thinking about getting the Aisin kit but I'm a little skeptical and would prefer to just go OEM if not for the price, what have u heard about that kit if anything? And 3. Where did u get that A-spec bumper from?
Aisin is the oem kit
Sup bruda I have 2008 RL silver. Where did you get your rain visor. I've been looking for them. Can you tell me where you got yours and how much. Thanks 🙏

I was watching your video while doing my water pump and timing belt and wanted to cam. Shaz fell out of DDC. Can I get it back to top dead center without any issues?
Yes happens all the time, just turn that can by itself
I needa water pump oil pump combo. I live in the 860. Looking for someone that can do the work
I’d be able to help you out. Dm me on Instagram, @dj_jimmydrae
I recently had this done to my 08', however the mechanic didn't put in the oil seals (91213-r70-a01 and 91212-r70-a01) as I still have them in the box. Should I worry?
It’s only a worry if you were already leaking at the front main seal
Hey question: I also have an 08, and I’m watching this video because I have knocking under my hood and I’m thinking it’s my timing belt. Did u hear the same thing which led to u changing the belt? Just wondering because I’d love to know which direction to go in. Thanks!
what was the mileage of the motor at the time of the belt and water pump change>? thanx
It’s routine to do so every 100,000 miles. This car was around 155k miles
Where do u jack to support the engine block? Is the oil drain pan ok?
Oil pan
@@dj_d.r.a.e.subbed ! Keep the rl vids up. Hardly info on rl!!
How long did this take you?
Amy first time it took about 5 hours. But I’ve done it so many times now I can do it in 2
Lol, i just chipped a tooth breaking the torque on my crank pulley bolt...
How much would you charge to that??? I have an 06 with 130k
$1,200 with the parts included
I need this done. @@dj_d.r.a.e.
How can I contact you?🙏🏿

Looks about 1 tooth off on those timing marks.
Looks can be deceiving, it’s hard getting the right camera angles.
Thanks for the vid, really helpful. My KB1 just passed 200k yesterday and I just ordered everything to do the same service. I was curious about that little trick you did to break the crank loose. Is that sketchy? Seems like the ratchet might slip or strip the bolt. And did you just flick the key or did you hold it?
I always use that trick, never had the issue. You want to flick the key because you don’t want the car to start.
Has your car kept original timing belt whole time until 200k? or had the timing belt been changed before 200k?
@@dongjinlee9461 No. I bought the car used at 150k but when I did the service I could tell it had been done before. The service reminder just came on too and I'm guessing that is set to go off every 100k miles.
