USCGC Bristol Bay arriving in Algonac April 14, 2024

USCGC Bristol Bay and her barge full of buoys arriving in Algonac for the night after spending the day working on switching out the winter buoys for the summer buoys on the St.Clair River and Lake Huron on April 14, 2024.

Nice to see it doing real work. I was stationed on a buoy tender next to it in ‘79 when she was new. We service all lighted buoys on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario and painted lighthouses in the summer. They did NOTHING. Earned the nickname ‘building 102’.

Huh,I didn’t know the Coast Guard had barges. I knew they had buoy tenders. Is this common now?
