Wow awesome that you are back there man. We are actually looking at going to either Himachal Pradesh, uttarakhand, ladakh sometime next year. Want to see how the Himalayan region is there since Nepal now makes it mandatory to have a guide hiking there. Gabe in Greece and India are my favorite vids 🇮🇳 🇬🇷 ❤
Gabe, you're simply the best! 🌟 Your videos are outstanding, and they make us feel like we're right there with you on your adventures. Thanks for sharing these incredible journeys with us. Keep up the great work! 🏞️🙏
The Dalai Lama is at home. He’s had a bout of the flu recently and his doctors recommended he not travel right now. So he’s there. Maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of him if you’re lucky! Thank you for showing his residence
You nailed it Gab. How you explained you can go to Tibet but not HH Dalai Lama and Tibetans. Thank you for your knowledge, wisdom and spreading positivity and truth through your travel journey. Lots of love and success ahead ❤
What an interesting and beautiful place. The closeness to high Himalaya looks great. I have been trekking EBC in Nepal but I might have to go these areas in India too.
I appreciate your travel adventures to areas (Mcleod Ganj) where many would never have the privledge of visiting. Hope you have time to visit Srinagar. Have safe travels. Greetings from Toronto Canada.
Welcome again in INDIA sir, u r in right time now, winter starting. last time due to humidity and forest fire the mountain and Himalayan range r not clear in uttarakhand. Enjoy ur trip in INDIA.
Just stunning, we appreciate all the effort you put into your videos! I bought your book ‘Following my Thumb’ to give to my uncle for a gift. I think he’s going to love it! Thanks again for your amazing videos🏆
Wow i love this area. Such a chaos on the streets and buildings. And this place is where the Dalai lama lives. Such a contrast lmao. Love it! It also gives me Uncharted2 vibes (game on playstation.) Such a great choice to return here Gabriel!
Thanks Gabriel. May be try to go/explore TCV (Tibetan Children’s Village School). McLeod Ganj nowadays is packed with traffic and Indian tourist. The town was never like that when I was growing up. May be explore Bir( 3-4 hrs drive from Dharamsala). Have a safe trip
Yes-ji, McLeod is still interesting and great for brief visits, restaurants, shopping, Dharma contacts, etc., and a good staging place for further trekking and travels. But it's topographically tough (narrow lanes, steep inclines), and nowadays congested, over-developed and over-commercialized. Prices and polllution have increased. It would be good if some areas were off limits for car traffic. Between 1991 - 95 I lived in Dharamsala (mostly Tibetan Library and Kotwali Bazaar areas), and it was enjoyable and less hectic to visit Upper Dharamsala (McLeod, etc.). For a peaceful life and spiritual pursuits in Himachal other settlements or places might be more suitable. I lived in Bir between 1995 - 98, and since then have revisited India a few times. Ge'o!
McLeod Ganj looks like an amazing town with great friendly people. Imagine doing a meditation class at the Dalai Lama’s palace, that would be an experience. Lots of quaint streets and lanes to explore, and so cheap. I know you have been there before but thank you for revisiting and showing your newer viewers this amazing part of the world. Looking forward to the hike in part II and more of the grand Himalaya mountains.❤
I saw a few Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycles in the video. Just bought a 2022 model myself, rode it for two weeks and have had to winterize it as it is starting to snow here in Canada...(your birthplace mate). So appropriate to see those bikes in the Himalayans. Maybe you should rent one there!
Made it to Mcleod an hr ago. Most epic bus journey I have ever done. Took 5 different local buses from Kasol and one shared jeep to get to Mcleod. Kasol>Bhuntar>kullu>palampur>Dharamsala>Mcleod. Some amazing views along the way. Wow what a journey! Left at 7am and arrived at 7pm.
Right on man, that's the real deal for sure. And I'm sure it only cost a few bucks altogether. Any idea where you will go next from there? I can't think of any suggestions as far as somewhere good to stop that's on the way to somewhere else. Might be a matter of catching a flight or a long train journey to somewhere a ways away. The closest places I can think of in that part of India that are worth visiting are Amritsar and Srinagar, Kashmir. If you head to Rajasthan I definitely recommend Pushkar.
@@GabrielTravelerVideosthank you. Yeah think my long rides are mostly over for this trip. Planning taking a flight to Jaipur and then staying in pushkar for a few nights then fly to Goa and maybe check out another place around there and then circle back and fly to Delhi and stay in a different area and check out for a day or 2 and fly out from there. Haven’t decided where yet, maybe try and hit Eastern Europe again.
@@GabrielTravelerVideosthank you for all the help. Plan on doing the Triund Trek today or tomorrow. Just need to switch hotels first. If I remember the prices: from Kasol to Bhuntar 20, Bhuntar to Kullu 85, Kullu to Palampur 350, palampur to Dharamshala 75, shared packed jeep to Mcleod 30. So all in: 560 or $6.7 usd. If I could only get normal taxis at good rates here haha.
@@bartonsky Right on, that sounds like a good plan. Arambol is the main cool party scene in Goa as you may know. But if you want to be somewhere quieter then I recommend Palolem, Patnem and Agonda. And even better is Gokarna further south in Karnataka.
@@GabrielTravelerVideosthank you for the tips. I don’t know anything about Goa so that is helpful. I’ll be heading to the quieter area then. Thank you. Just did the Triund hike. A lot more people than the one in Manali but the views at the top were amazing. Perfect sunny day. Apparently if you bring camping equipment you can hike up further and sleep up there. That sure would be cool to do someday. Thank you for the hike recommendation 👍.
Hi Gabriel, I'm wondering if is this the place where they have skirmishes with China and India border which back in 50's, or 60's England created a border between the two countries guessing between McLeod Ganji, India and China Border many stick fights have happened over the years. This area very much looks commerical in could see where many different businesses are sort of like Katmandu but a bit more relaxing look forward to seeing you on a trekk around the Himalayas.
Gabriel, the town of Dharamshala is world famous now as it's hosting some games of cricket world cup. I am currently watching AUS vs NZ happening there right now. By the way we are following you for last five years. Your vlogs are magnetic.
Tap water from Sink is not suitable for consumption anywhere in India unlike Europe . Although roadside tap water is good as the boaring is way deeper there
Your videos help so much it feels like cheating when planning stuff. Heading to Mussorie tomorrow from Rishikesh. Need to find some thing to visit in between Mussorie and Ganj.
Not yet, super high on my travel list but a pain to get into since it's part of China. I think you have to enter from China, you can't just fly to Lhasa (I could be wrong about that) and then you have to be part of an organized tour.
McLeod Ganj is a part of Dharamshala, Dharamshala also has Army cantonment. The Tibetans mostly live in McLeod Ganj. Dharamshala has the church seen in the movie that was made on Mary Kom.
You should have stopped just a minute before for lunch, at Nicks, the best restaurant in town, imho, for breakfast, lunch or dinner 👌🏼 just after Lhamo's Croissant 😉 Hope you had a nice walk to Bhagsu, and through the indian temple up to the waterfall 🙏
Tibet is very much developed now and it does not have the feudal system practiced till mid 20th century. In fact Tibet is much more developed and organized than Nepal, Bhutan or even Himachal you are visiting.
If you have an Airtel simcard, you can use the newly launched 5G there, or you can use the existing 4G network which is decent. Not sure how you're getting 1G there 😂 Yes the Dharamsala Mcleodganj Gondola is new and the region is recovering from a torrential flood and landslide so power cuts and road repairs are common right now.
