I really appreciate the time you took to do this comparison, the mechanical comparison was interesting. I would like to see more of a deeper dive into any story/ lore changes though, you only spent the last minute talking about that. If you did another 10 minute video on that alone, I'd watch. Cheers!
Thank you. I'll have to wait and see the rest of the adventure first to see if there were any changes. They only released the upper caverns. The rest of the adventure will be released when Quests of the Infinite Staircase comes out. Thanks for watching.
Good video! I'm gonna be running the full version next week. I'd looked at this shorter version, but I wanted my players to have some outdoor exploration and craft some deeper ties and motivations to the caverns. Hope your game went well :)
I like both. I would use the version that corresponds to the edition being used. All in all, I think whoever ported this did a good job of staying close to the original while making reasonable fit and finish adjustments to suit the mechanics and mores of 5e.
This is rather helpful! I've been forced to DM some adventures. So, seeing that older ones are being remade and highlighting the differences. It's honestly really helpful in deciding of they're worth running or not.
So they jacked up the levels of the PC then nerfed the monsters, shame S4 originally was meant to be hardcore, and I played it 4 times in tournaments and survived once 7th Level female elf Assassin, actually the entire party was assassins of some kind.
Which version do you prefer, 1e or 5e?
1e and 1e only.
And it isn't "Descent" - it's "Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth". Or if you play the '75 version, "Lost Tsojconth".
@@thedungeondelver Right, that's 1e, the 5e version is called Descent into the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth.
1 EDT S4 Lost Cavers is part of the S Series

Glad to be of service. You got this!
The gorgimera should be in the phisical book.
I was thinking maybe they shifted it to the Greater Caverns. Guess we'll see when the book comes out.
Of course, 1e gave experience for treasure, so they needed more treasure.

@@Simon-RucknRideAUD A party of Assassins, nice. 👍
@@FlintFireforge it was kind a joke, I was maybe 🤔 13 and we played it at after school care
