- Snapped a belt on the 42" Troybilt Bronco and could not get proper belt tension or the blades to stop spinning after installing new oem belt, possible problems of low belt tension, to much belt tension or non functioning blade brakes. Thanks for Watching!

Nicely done. Thanks. Your video has obviously helped lots of mower owners.
Thank you for explaining the blade brake system. It saved me lots of head aches.
That’s my exact problem I’ve ran into, almost every scenario you explained. I appreciate that. I’ve been fighting this thing and at least now I’ve got a direction to go. Thanks again.
Finally somebody with real info and clear explanations. Thank you. Now I need to find an easy way to drop the deck ;)
Hello. I just wanted to drop a line and THANK YOU for the tip on adding tension to the PTO cable spring. The blades would not engage because the belt was not tight enough. So I moved the PTO cable spring from that first hole to the far edge of the idler arm. I tried to move it to the hole in the middle but could not. Anyway, the move to the edge increased the tension on the belt and the blades now engage. MANY THANKS AND GOD BLESS!!!!
I have not commented in a while , but watched all your videos some sage advice . Been down that same path before. Twisted up a blade like a pretzel yesterday on the net ordering new blades. Those dam rocks are every were.
I hear ya! Appreciate that! Got to hate when stuff like that happens. Doesn't matter how careful you are, there always a root or rock somewhere that finds the blade! Thanks for Watching!!!
I was that other person needing some guidance, thank you sir.
Great video. I am having the same problem with belt slippage on the oem belt. Now going with the 96” belt. Thanks!
Hey, thanks for this video. Very helpful. I would like to have seen a video of you removing and adjusting the idler pulley.
Thanks for the heads up about the other hole.
Thanks for the video, wish I would have seen it 4 belts ago lol
This is my issue and will trying this in the morning thank you
Thank u for ur video it was a big help for me. Have a bless day.
Thanks for the advice and information
It’s a common problem if you’re not watching closely enough
I’ve made this mistake my self 😊
Your welcome, glad to hear im not the only one that has had this problem! haha Thanks for Watching!!!
Informative, nice to see the works of the machine. Thanks for sharing.
Your welcome, Thanks for Watching!!!
Thanks for taking time to make vedio.
Bast explanation! Thank you.
Thanks a lot of useful info I did not know.
One problem that I have/had is, the tensioning spring tends to rub on a pulley, when disengaged. Eventually, the spring gets cut off from abrasion. I might built a support saddle/bracket, preventing the spring to sag too low, when disengaged. Thanks for sharing Frank.
I feel like I've had that happen on another one, now that i think about it. Thanks for Watching!!!
After 3 days of frustration with my already inexperienced self I really appreciate this video with exactly what I got going on. Thanks for the info & your time. 👌
The new belt on my Bronco is very loose. Part of the problem I found is the brake puck or brake pads for the pully's are cut and worn causing excessive travel in the idler system. If your replacing belts then I'd recommend replacing the brake pads for both pulleys.
Great info Bud👍🏻
Thanks for Watching!!!
Good fix and my old LT is all mechanical and still running the belts I got on it. I had a 16 horse I had to give away vecause I wasn't able to fix it but the old one just needs an oil change. You did good and go pick one! Blessings
I hear ya! I was glad this was a fairly simple fix, just hate pulling the deck off! Thanks for Watching!!!
U 2, Pal!@@fnaguitarplayer9
Thank you you just saved me $ and time
You are awesome. Thank you
My issue is I don't think my cable is broke but it has a lot slack where it bolts up under seat. It finally pulls the spring on the deck once the lever gets almost to the bottom when trying to engage the blades. The pulleys don't close or release. The blades cut off while I was cutting.
Helped me….. moving to the other hole due to a 97 inch belt
I have same mower.Thst little rod came off mine and i cant get it to stay on.Do you have a video on that or any suggestions? Thanx
ALways buy the 96" belt. The extra 1/2 inch on the OEM belt just makes everything a bit too loose for my liking.
i have a 2006 model #13an77tg766 troy bilt pony the extension to the right on the deck looking at the video did you modify that one i missing mines what is the proper spring and can i go to the holes on the bracket that holds the deck in place with the arms in hole with pin
Thank you you are fantastic. I’ll be looking for someone like you for a long time. Your AC is in my book.
My problem is when I engage the blades, the pulley brakes are still in contact with the pulleys a little bit. Any idea what might cause this?
Did you ever find the issue? I’m having the same problem myself. An OEM extension spring helped a little, but now my blades only spin when the deck is up all the way, but they don’t spin fast enough to cut.
Man I’m going through hell with 1 of my spindle brakes. It won’t let off the pulley. It stays against it.
Me too. Have you found the cause?
👍👍👍.Thank you
Your welcome, Thanks for Watching!!!
I have a loose rod underneath there, and I can't figure out where exactly it was attached.
My rod came off,did you ever find anything on this matter? Thanx
Watch DIY Jim ( how to change John Deer blade brakes...) it might be helpful
Yes, so I went to Tractor Supply and looked under their machine and saw how they had the rod connected above the deck. I took pictures, went home, and connected mine to the same spot.
@@yankeeblaq7121 Thanx great idea😁
