Perhaps it’s time to stop calling Chloe a child prodigy. She grew into one of the best violinists in this era. Every piece she played became a masterpiece instantly. Her technics are flawless of course but what’s killing me is her interpretation. What a talent. What a soul. 🥲
Yes, Chloe is a magnificent violinist, and since 2018 at least most of her performances are masterpieces that will surely stand the test of time. (Not every masterpiece is flawless. Even though the technical shortcomings of e.g. the Menuhin final Vivaldi are obvious enough, that performance of Winter -- and still more the performance as a whole including Self in Mind -- is truly great. The brilliance of her musicality and sheer force of personality render imperfections that would otherwise grate almost charming!) However, albeit a bit paradoxically, I think Chloe has never been much of a child prodigy in the sense of e.g. Ida Haendel, Sarah Chang or Midori. Her musicality is, as you say, off the scale, and no doubt it is innate and so has always been there. But her technique has lagged behind theirs, and so in that respect she is a relatively late developer. The technical excellence that she displays now is as much the result of discipline, determination and sheer hard-work as it is of natural talent. I think too that this limitation (relatively speaking) has been turned to her advantage. The fact that she has had to work at it more than some is one of the things that has helped foster her humility, not merely in relation to her audience and colleagues, but more importantly in relation to the music she performs. Such humility in the latter respect is one of the main reasons her performances are so compelling. She gives herself up to the composition completely. What we witness is not so much _Chloe_ performing X but Chloe-in-character-X performing.
@@jackburgess8579 Thank you for your long comment and offering some great insights. Your words made me rethink what I wrote down initially. Yes, I think you are so right for one thing. Chloe's musicality is actually ahead of her skills and it's so wonderful that her skills are catching up her music soul as she continues to grow. I play piano (at a high level as I would like to imagine) but I don't play violin. However, I've been so drawn to the sound and the versatility of this instrument for my over 40 years of life. When I first randomly clicked a Chloe's video, my jaw really dropped to the floor. I couldn't believe what I was listening. She looked so little but her making the violin sound so full with all the color changes with a top adult musician's presentation and interpretation were just stunning. When she played, I could feel that she was fully in her world and she knew what she wanted to achieve in that music piece. She wasn't mimicking a particular adult musician's view of that piece. I could sense that she had her own thought. She might be small and technically not mature enough, when she was 10 or 11, to express 100% of what's in her mind but it was already enough to blow me away. This kind of music talent was so rare and frankly speaking so easily identifiable because it's just unique.
@@rosemars8 Your description of your discovery of Chloe is a pleasure to read and pretty much captures my own reaction to her 2017-18 Zhuhai to Menuhin performances. Congratulations Professor Chloe and keep practicing! We all want you to keep growing as a musician and a lovely human being!
Yes and no. On the one hand, yes, this is a genuinely great recital. I am hopeful that it will become as iconic as Chloe's magical performance in the 2018 final; indeed, I have no doubt that in 30 years time it will be deserving of the epithet "legendary." It is also a spectacular advance on her last formal recital - which because of Covid was as long ago as the Atlanta Sarasate in July 2019 (although of course in April 2020 Chloe gave us _informally_ Albumblatt accompanied by her mother)! And yes, without question, it is in competition with the very best that is out there. On the other hand, no, this isn't really a "coming of age." To say as much is in one respect too strong: in career terms, it is just a step in the right direction; Chloe will come of age when she performs with the same brilliance and power on the stage of one of the world's great concert halls. But in another respect it is too weak: musically, her previous post-Guarneri performances - Mozart #2 and The Lark Ascending - are likewise world-class and no less impactful; indeed, she has been mixing it with the very best since Menuhin 2018. One has to go to a lot of trouble to find performances _by anyone_ of e.g. Cafe 1930, the two Carmens, Meditation, and Otono Porteno that are better than Chloe's!

実に聞きやすい優しい演奏ね❗
Superb! What a precious gift from Heaven here on earth! Interpreting like a true master, this young woman is a star in the sky of the eternal music flow of mankind.
(Sorry for saying this yet... I'd like to hear her with a less bright pianist, one that breaths warmer beside her magic violin)
aside from how incredibly good she is, she’s kinda pretty :>
I will never get tired of listening to you =)
I will never get tired of listening to you too, dear miss Chloe🥰
Wish you good luck 👍
Ayoooo stan professor Chloe for better life
Amazing Violinist ...thank you Chloe...
Great. A great talent. Beautiful warm tone and nuances. She plays with conviction. If you can play like that at this age, what comes next?
After playing like that at such an age, what comes next? Unbelievably, playing even better at the same age!!

What a performance. It's a first for me to listen to Ysaye yet I was trying to hold back my tears from hearing such a wonderful piece played by the ever exceptional Chloe. What an amazing experience
Hermoso, maravilloso chloe chua.
Ok, but bruh, let's appreciate how she managed to phrase that second piece! That legato, the overtones were all connected!

Her heart is an extension of the bow onto the strings and there she finds her joy and the kingdom of her soul. She is profound and just amazing. Thank you, Chloe for sharing your heart with us. 🌹

Sonoridad asombrosa y envidiado por los autores.
She looks so confident and mature, like a professional musician.
She is
Fantastic performance! So young but so profound. 🤩 just to relax and enjoy 🍾🥂
I am so proud to be a Singaporen

Oh my, Chloe is so talented!
天啊听哭了😭
@晴約 鄭 是呀,很久没有听到这样直击灵魂的音乐和演奏了
