Thanks again for watching! And thanks to the backers for keeping the show ad-free and safe from the Evil Empire. What's your favorite F-Zero game? Mine is Truxton kart-racing on the Sega 32X. Love that game!!! -mark
+Paul Clinton Agreed. I like the visual presentation etc but the controls and racing mechanics aren't really my cup of tea. Doesn't stop it from being a great game tho.
Rediscovering Retro The controls and gameplay are what made it so good, they're super tight yet fluid. You can only blame yourself when you make mistakes as you have complete control.
CGR probably has one of the best, and most positive gaming communities ever. All annoying fanboys all over the world can agree here, that video games are just fucking awesome. Proud to be a patreon supporter to keep this awesome channel going.
+Nathan's Music For Videos don't forget about the absolutely jaw dropping amount of all time classics the gamecube has, it's worth owning a gamecube for any of them really
Unless wipeout sucks less with a steering wheel... No. This game made sure you were using a Nintendo remote, everything was pinpoint accurate to the point where if you weren't focused you'd be better off holding both triggers to fidget your way through the game. All I did in wipeout was crash because you had to tilt to play. At least if I remember it correctly.
I love how Mark's favorite Gamecube game was made by Sega. It just makes sense. The F-Zero game I played most was the second one on GBA, GP Legend I believe. Very fun game.
Mark, the guy who made this game was Toshihiro Nagoshi, who is the guy who created Daytona Usa, Super Monkey Ball, Binary Domain and the Yakuza series. He is now the CCO of SEGA.
I love this game, and I feel this game is one of the reasons to own a Nintendo GameCube, but good lord is it hard as hell, and for sure is not a game for new comers to the series.
One of my favourite games of all time, but it's also one of the hardest games I've ever played. If you don't remember the tracks, you're basically screwed. Thanks for reviewing it, Mark!
Funny thing, this was made by SEGA both in the ARcade as the home port :). Back when it was still recent that SEGA quit the console business and and people couldn't beleive it. Also that SEGA still had their dev teams and thus could create kickass games. aaaand... then it's gone! :D
supersmashbro596 It just shows how awesome sega's development teams were and what outputthey could manage. I mean just look at the Dreamcast alone, how many first party stuff they put out. A shadow these days of the days back then. Ontop of that great second party like Apaloosa too, all thrown under the buss as they no longer had a good partner to produce content with. I mean their shark game was butchered into a Jaws movie tie in and rushed.. just because the new partner thought it would sell better. So the bunch of hippies that made games about marine life, and wanted to make a game about sharks for a change... had to make a human killing simulator with a movie tie in. Really and people ask why SEGA can't perform Awesome anymore? THIS IS WHY! They need a console to do so, as otherwise they are just a glorified publisher for Sony mostly. No incentive to push their own hardware means they also do not need to produce the software outside of just making more generic stuff or being a small time publisher. Sorry I just miss SEGA today, been playing MEgadrive.. that logo man! :).
Kiddy Dong Yup, I know. It's just so sad to see there is absolutely nothing left of that old development juggernaught that was SEGA. I mean they basically kept hte Dreamcast filled with Titles by themselves!
+DehnusNorder There is still Yakuza, which is certainly one of the 5 best series available on video game consoles. Well and it's also Sega's major cash cow.
One of my all-time favourite games. It's challenging, DAMN FAST, so good looking... Man how I wish nintendo makes a new one. Greetings from Spain by the way!!
Brain Cleaner has got to be one of my favorite soundtracks in videogame history, and also I find it amazing that you're putting out even more quality reviews since the Patreon's success, hope for the best in the future, thanks man!
I wish that Sega and Nintendo would give this franchise to the studio that made All star racing transformed, I would kill for an Fzero game that looked and played as well as that.
While I never played the Gamecube game, my local arcade in the Phoenix area (The home of San Tan Brewery and Sex Panther BTW ;) ) back in the day (2003-2004) had the AX machine with the card reader system. That, DDR, and Soul Caliber 2 were responsible for many spent dollars between myself and my friends. Watching this review made me nostalgic for those days. Good times those were.
This right here is my baby! F-Zero GX is my favorite racing game of all time having only Sega All Star Racing Series come even close to it for me. Give it a shot if you haven't already, the rush this game can provide is euphoric.
If only amusementvision was still around, they made gx and ax, as well as create the original monkey ball, then progressed to make super monkey ball 1 & 2. I think the majority of the team still works on yakuza games.
my third favourite game of all time. This game is so magical, you can't think, you have to just relax and concentrate, you think and you crash. Incredible game
If you have a GameCube Action Pro replay, you can play F-Zero AX. It's cool because you see they have a sit down version of the arcade version. This is part of the Tri-Force arcade board for Sega-Nintendo-Namco. They also have a Mario Kart from the same arcade board as well. So glad I sill have this game lol!!
This is one of those games you can't stop playing then come back to it a few months (years in my case) later and expect to still be good at it. Although, I probably shouldn't have jumped straight back into the master races...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can use the action replay to unlock the AX arcade game inside of f-zero GX. This is because Nintendo were going originally keep AX as a feature that you could unlock, but canned it to release AX as a stand alone arcade game.
Its nice to have CGR available again to watch on YT. I was unaware of this until recently. Being a hardcore gamer at 50 yrs old, im extremely picky. So I dont care what they say about mark, this truely is still my favorite. Thanks!
I have been waiting for years for this, you didn't disappoint. My favourite Gamecube game too, you should try out Fast Racing Neo for Wii U if you want a similar game.
Loving the thanks at the end of the video!!, nice touch Mark!!!....or though i will be watching the end of your videos first from now on until i see my name!
My favorite game of all time, a true gamer's game, and a hardcore classic. Been playing this in my Cube since launch back in high school and see no reason to stop booting it up on dat Master difficulty and chapter 8 very hard. Soo happy to see you review this Mark, you have great taste, keep the underground alive man!
This game is full of awesomeness, however kind of frustrating on how hard it is. The truly challenging stuff for handcore gamers. Also the intro Nintendo / SEGA traditional logos in the same screen makes me chill. This marks the end of the classic console wars era, although I think there are other games that had this first (Monkey Ball)
Yeah, I loved this game. I remember customizing a racer that looked almost like an X-wing, and its speed, combined with lots of memorization, allowed me to stand a chance at victory.
totally my favorite racing game of all time. the arcade machine, the tracks of which are also unlockable in GX, is awesome as well. if only nintendo and sega would do more joint ventures. their powers combined = pure awesome.
+Ruko Michiharu Do you own a Wii? You can download it and play it on the Wii for free. You can also do the same on the Wii U but you'd need the GameCube controller adapter.
Many are still unaware as it became widespread news pretty recently but, the entirety of the AX arcade version can be accessed if you use an action replay. It was originally planned to be part of the core game as an unlockable but Nintendo and SEGA decided against it to make it an arcade only release instead.
Love this game. Got pretty damn good at it too (never did snaking or any of that crap though), and could win all the cups on the hardest difficulty. Beat story mode on the hardest difficulty too, which was ridiculous and required a bit of cheesing. Octoman and Jack Levin had the best machines for my playstyle. Some machines were just weird to control, like Pico's.
one of the few games I unlocked all the tracks, vehicle parts, and drivers. The game is more manageable (in my opinion) if you change the controls from the analog stick to the d-pad.
Not the craziest racing game on the GC, that honour belongs to Kirby's Air Ride, absolutely mental that one. Also, most fun is to had with a LAN game of Mario Kart Double Dash, 8 players on two screens... fantastic
I saw Fast Racing Neo in the Wii U eshop and the two fzero courses in Mario Kart 8. Hopefully, Nintendo has some ideas on making a new F-Zero game for the Wii U or even the 3DS.
+Joel Auguste nooo not the 3ds. That's thing has plenty of great games that are limited by the hardware.monster hunter and both ocarina of time and majoras mask remakes. They could of went all out and redid the engine for the n64 Zeldas but they wanted to take the easy route. Plus dumbing down super smash so it would fit perfectly with the 3ds version. Fuck the 3ds, my phone can pull off better games.
Relugus. That is very true! However Nintendo still have an amazing Dev team and I'm positive that they would make another amazing F-Zero game. It's just a shame they have no faith in the franchise.
Too bad that Sega's recent arcade game don't come to the west anymore. I'd love to play that Luigi's Mansion arcade game!! And Nintendo should let Sega make a sequel to F-Zero AX (the arcade counterpart to GX) it would be great!
Before my GC memory card crapped out on me (10+ years of game saves gone) one day I decided to end it and spent hours advancing through the story and it kicked my ass to no end. But I managed to beat and end that part of my gaming life. On and off again for the first 10 years of owning this game I tried to beat it but it was hard as granite.
This game is great! I can never get my friends to play with me though. I actually got to play an AX arcade machine once in Long Beach, and I tried connecting my memory card to it to get the extra tracks, but I couldn't figure it out. I ended up using the Action Replay to unlock them. The hardest thing in this game is the Story/mission mode. You have to be perfect in some of those. The very last mission is probably the hardest track in the whole game, and the mission where you have to boost through the tunnel before it explodes is hard as fuck too. I spent so much time on that one. Seriously, you have to be perfect. My character is Jack Levin typically.
This game looks awesome but it's pretty expensive to get unless you know the right places to go to. I think the N64 version is cheaper so I might just get that instead. Great review!
Awesome game. Looked AMAZING when it came out and still looks great now. Sega sure did know how to make quality arcade racers. Shame these days I wouldn't trust them to make my cup of tea :-(.
+xOmniCloudx yeah kudos for that - all terrific games - actually I guess that's proof they do still have what it takes its just a shame we don't get to see that much of it these days
Used to have this game when I was younger, I got it from gamestop but the disc was all scratched up and eventually it stopped working. The time I spent with it though was like being graced by god.
TheFrozenTurtle I just realized and then double checked to be sure and wow, Mark has not done a single Vita review. That's shocking to me given Vita will have been out in the US for 4 years in less than a month. It can't be a matter of views since Mark reviews a lot of stuff people don't care much about and even Vita content would bring more views than a lot of stuff he has reviewed. The undertow reviewed Vita games though and I thought they had access to the same games and hardware. I wonder why he hasn't as he's reviewed 3DS stuff even if not much and most of it was 3+ years ago.
Love that game to death. So much that I actually beat the whole thing too! The last Story Mission was crazy. I must have tried it atleast a hundred times before I finally won.
The original creators of the wipeout series have created their own development team and are creating a spiritual successor to the early wipeouts in the form of "formula fusion". It's in alpha atm and is pretty shit but they've opened it to fans to give feedback on the whole development. I'm hoping it's going to be epic.
It's not that good. It's fast, but controls feel stiff and it's very simple compared to all the crazy physics shenanigans of F-Zero. Or WipEout. It's neat for 15 bucks, though.
Thanks again for watching! And thanks to the backers for keeping the show ad-free and safe from the Evil Empire. What's your favorite F-Zero game? Mine is Truxton kart-racing on the Sega 32X. Love that game!!! -mark
F-Zero GP Legend and F-Zero GX are my favourites. EDF EDF!!!
F-zero GX and F-zero X!!!
+Lord Karnage Having a hard time here trying to decide if i prefer F-zero X or F-zero GX. I have waited forever for this review!
+Lord Karnage F-Zero X fuck yeah.
Metroid Prime is also one of the best Gamecube games
Simply one of the greatest games ever made.
+Paul Clinton I bought it back in the day. Decent game, but that's about it.
+eggwaffle It really is. Such a shame it's only getting the recognition over a decade after its release.
But Captain Falcon is a memetic badass now...
CGR probably has one of the best, and most positive gaming communities ever. All annoying fanboys all over the world can agree here, that video games are just fucking awesome. Proud to be a patreon supporter to keep this awesome channel going.
Yeah, and that's why i'm sad he doesn't do them anymore 😢
Thank you Sega for making this classic game.
One of the best games on the GameCube. Glad you're reviewing this one.
+Nathan's Music For Videos Actually, this game is probably worth buying a GameCube.
+Nathan's Music For Videos don't forget about the absolutely jaw dropping amount of all time classics the gamecube has, it's worth owning a gamecube for any of them really
The greatest racing game of all time
Debatable
+TechnoSyndrome It seems like everything that made this game good was done better (and first) on Wip3out (that's the 3rd one).
+Dick Hertz UN-debatable.
Unless wipeout sucks less with a steering wheel... No. This game made sure you were using a Nintendo remote, everything was pinpoint accurate to the point where if you weren't focused you'd be better off holding both triggers to fidget your way through the game. Very true. Nothing can touch this masterpiece
I love how Mark's favorite Gamecube game was made by Sega. It just makes sense. The F-Zero game I played most was the second one on GBA, GP Legend I believe. Very fun game.
this made me almost cry f-zero gx is one of my favorite games ever
100% Completion on this game was the hardest thing I've ever done in a game. Great review, Mark!
No joke that's incredible.
It’s such a pain but the satisfaction is huge when you do it
Mark, the guy who made this game was Toshihiro Nagoshi, who is the guy who created Daytona Usa, Super Monkey Ball, Binary Domain and the Yakuza series. He is now the CCO of SEGA.

Nintendo, make another F-Zero! Get on it dog gone it!

+DehnusNorder heck the entire arcade game is even in the game. ax cup and its characters :p

+supersmashbro596 Not only just the cup and characters, there's a game shark cheat that let's you play the ACTUAL arcade game - menus and all.
+DehnusNorder
There is still Yakuza, which is certainly one of the 5 best series available on video game consoles. Well and it's also Sega's major cash cow.
One of my all-time favourite games. It's challenging, DAMN FAST, so good looking... Man how I wish nintendo makes a new one. Greetings from Spain by the way!!
The AGDQ speedruns of this are insane.
A visual stunner. Can't imagine what a next gen F-Zero would look like.
You forgot the music...the DAMN AWESOME MUSIC!
Brain Cleaner has got to be one of my favorite soundtracks in videogame history, and also I find it amazing that you're putting out even more quality reviews since the Patreon's success, hope for the best in the future, thanks man!

glad you liked the game i sent! hope you get to review Killer 7 soon :-)
+ultravio1et Combined with the Sex Panther I sent in, it's a perfect match!
Genuinely my favourite racing game of all time, if a new F-Zero game was released I would buy the Nintendo console it was on ASAP
*but ... but ... BUT CAN IT FALCON PUNCH ?*
This is also my favorite Gamecube game of all time, especially for playing as Black Shadow
If only amusementvision was still around, they made gx and ax, as well as create the original monkey ball, then progressed to make super monkey ball 1 & 2. I think the majority of the team still works on yakuza games.
I think mark is the only youtuber who havent gotten any negativity from going to patreon, well deserved!
Years later I still haven't played a better racing game. Nintendo and Sega came together to create a beautiful child.
my third favourite game of all time. This game is so magical, you can't think, you have to just relax and concentrate, you think and you crash. Incredible game
Thank you Mark for referencing Blind Fury, finally someone does!!
If you have a GameCube Action Pro replay, you can play F-Zero AX. It's cool because you see they have a sit down version of the arcade version. If you beat all the grand prixs on the hardest difficulty it unlocks the ax tracks. Sorry for responding to an old comment XD
Its nice to have CGR available again to watch on YT. I was unaware of this until recently. Being a hardcore gamer at 50 yrs old, im extremely picky. So I dont care what they say about mark, this truely is still my favorite. Thanks!
F-Zero GX was the reason I bought my Gamecube.
+UnoSquid Same here! Bought it and Soul Calibur II the same day. Best purchase ever!

F zero X was my favourite. That MIDI guitar shredding was incredible
MY FAVORITE GAME EVER!!!!!!!! LOVE THE DIFFICULTY AND EVRYTHING, the music, the levels, EVERYTHING! Thanks for covering this game :)
So Mark's second favorite Nintendo game ever is made by SEGA? lol
mark finally are you reviewing this game, one of my favorites racing games. hail lord karnage
If only Sega and Nintendo teamed up again, they will create magic!!! We need another f zero.
Yeah, I loved this game. I remember customizing a racer that looked almost like an X-wing, and its speed, combined with lots of memorization, allowed me to stand a chance at victory.
F-Zero GX is my favourite game of all tine, it’s so much fun
if ur in ilinois go to ghaoping ghost arcade, they have f zero ax and initial d
WARSMAN that’s where I played it too
Been wating for this review ever since you promised it in your "upcoming in 2015" video more than a year ago.
Keep 'em coming! MarkIII reviews have be awesome so far.
totally my favorite racing game of all time. the arcade machine, the tracks of which are also unlockable in GX, is awesome as well. if only nintendo and sega would do more joint ventures. their powers combined = pure awesome.
He finally reviewed it, YES!
have you seen a movie called redline? its the high budget f-zero movie we never got
YES!
+DirtyMemes the live action speed racer film totally ripped off f-zero (particularly this game) as well.
+Lars «B» Amble you triggered me pretty hard
Mark talking about laser-disc and, SEX... Panther, is a telltale sign of how, funky smooth this review will go down with the viewer :3
Best racing game ever, period. Amusement Vision was so great.
My favorite game of all time. It upsets me so much no sequel or even remake has been made.
wow... that is just... immense!!! and a damn awesome review! makes me glad to be a supporter :D
Now THERE's a game that I wish I could play... Someday I will! It certainly looks incredible, that's for sure...
+Ruko Michiharu Do you own a Wii? You can download it and play it on the Wii for free.
You can also do the same on the Wii U but you'd need the GameCube controller adapter.
Amelia Hartman I have a Wii, what I don't have is a Game Cube controller...
Ruko Michiharu Do you have a Classic Controller or a Classic Controller Pro? You can use those instead.
Amelia Hartman I have a classic controller pro, but as far as I know I need a Game Cube controller to play Game Cube games...
Ruko Michiharu Not on the Wii/Wii U. Nintendont supports the CCP.
Fzero gx my favourite of the series. I learned how to snake and boost so fast it helps me beat the harder cups and the ax levels
The blast processing looks amazing!
Someone who loves F-Zero and TimeSplitters?
Now that's not something to miss, time to suscribe!
Only got Blind Fury on VHS but I love that movie.
Many are still unaware as it became widespread news pretty recently but, the entirety of the AX arcade version can be accessed if you use an action replay. Mark would you review FAST Racing Neo after this?
Still my favorite game ever :D We need an F-Zero NX!
The show is better than ever with even more personality! Great job!
one of the few games I unlocked all the tracks, vehicle parts, and drivers. The game is more manageable (in my opinion) if you change the controls from the analog stick to the d-pad.
Not the craziest racing game on the GC, that honour belongs to Kirby's Air Ride, absolutely mental that one.
Also, most fun is to had with a LAN game of Mario Kart Double Dash, 8 players on two screens... fantastic
Also, you should check out Fast Racing Neo on the Wii U!
Fast racing neo on WiiU is the Fzero sequel we needed
I love this channel so much. God bless you, Mark.
They really should do an HD remaster of this game for Wii U.
+zsxdflip or a sequel
+zsxdflip I'd prefer a sequel. If you're dying to play this again, you can just emulate it on your Wii U for free.
Blind Fury is awesome, now I have to watch it again.
Designed by Sega? Hmmmm....
F-Zero USA?
Daytona GX?
F-tona USX?
SCUD Race GX?
Developed by Sega, using Nintendo's design for the characters and vehicles, and obviously published by Nintendo, considering it's their own IP.
Sadly, Sega's amazing dev teams are no more.
Relugus. That is very true! However Nintendo still have an amazing Dev team and I'm positive that they would make another amazing F-Zero game. It's just a shame they have no faith in the franchise.
OMG I love this game for the Gamecube pleas can you review F-ZeroX??
Too bad that Sega's recent arcade game don't come to the west anymore. I'd love to play that Luigi's Mansion arcade game!!
And Nintendo should let Sega make a sequel to F-Zero AX (the arcade counterpart to GX) it would be great!
Before my GC memory card crapped out on me (10+ years of game saves gone) one day I decided to end it and spent hours advancing through the story and it kicked my ass to no end. But I managed to beat and end that part of my gaming life.
On and off again for the first 10 years of owning this game I tried to beat it but it was hard as granite.
Don’t blink
don’t breath
don’t anything!.....just F-Zero GX

These reviews are comfy as hell
Awesome game. Looked AMAZING when it came out and still looks great now. Sega sure did know how to make quality arcade racers. Shame these days I wouldn't trust them to make my cup of tea :-(.
+ wrena79 Modern SEGA made magic with Afterburner Climax and the All-Stars Racing games so they still have what it takes for vehicle based games.
+xOmniCloudx yeah kudos for that - all terrific games - actually I guess that's proof they do still have what it takes its just a shame we don't get to see that much of it these days
I love the soundtrack of this game. It's amazing.
When is F-Zero coming to the Nintendo 3DS? :(
Never got a gamecube but I would have owned this for sure if I did. Loved FZero X on 64.
brings back memories. 1 of my favorite gamecube games
I have this game. Never beat it. But still had fun. I don't think I've ever seen a faster game.
one of the hardest racing games i've played
Haven't played this game in a couple years but man was it hard. Very good game, though.
Used to have this game when I was younger, I got it from gamestop but the disc was all scratched up and eventually it stopped working. The time I spent with it though was like being graced by god.
Now this is the Game that Nintendo should Remake.....for their Current Console.....+ Awesome Online
Gave a thumbs up for the blind fury plug.
You should definitely check out Fast Racing Neo on the Wii U.
Edit: And also Wipeout HD on the PS3.
+TheFrozenTurtle Don't forget the awesome Wipeout 2048 on Vita which is a successor to HD and even allows cross play with it.
xOmniCloudx
I was gonna say 2048 but I didn't know if Mark had a vita or not. 2048 was purely awesome.
TheFrozenTurtle I just realized and then double checked to be sure and wow, Mark has not done a single Vita review. That's shocking to me given Vita will have been out in the US for 4 years in less than a month.

I wonder why he hasn't as he's reviewed 3DS stuff even if not much and most of it was 3+ years ago.
If there ever was a perfect racing game, this would be it.
You would try the new wii U game called Fast Racing Neo. It looks just like the F-Zero games.
Review fast racing neo, its baisic f zero UGX
I have seen and read that FRNeo is f@@&ing hard
+Falcon Bleck It's hard, but not as hard as F-Zero GX. Sense of speed is great though. Definitely worth the buy for 15EU/USD.
+Falcon Bleck It's really not that hard. The AI crashes a lot.
+Kiddy Dong lol ok thanks both, i will buy both games so i will have a really nice time with frustration
It's not that good. It's fast, but controls feel stiff and it's very simple compared to all the crazy physics shenanigans of F-Zero. Or WipEout. It's neat for 15 bucks, though.
