You picked the perfect shot! That looked so amazing and would have been a gorgeous photo just by itself. I loved the sketch and think you did a great job. I also liked the 2 extremes idea and then blend in the other details. I am going to have to try that!
Thanks so much! A good first step is figuring out if it'll be a great photo, and it'll very likely translate to a great painting because both bases are composition. Though it's easier said than done, as I mess up my paintings quite a bit :p
Hi Becky .... good explanation and summary of things to know From a French sketcher and watercolorist who had the chance to visit your city Hong Kong in his early years as a sailor of French Navy !
Hi Becky. .-ZeS-. here from Madrid, Spain (a fellow Artist and a New Yorker expat living abroad). It's good to see you don't miss a chance to create Art. That's really good. Got a question for you... that Prismacalor Verithin pencil you use for Sketching... is it was based like the Prismacolor Coloured Pencils? Or is it more like Graphite? Just to know how well it erases for eliminating most of it prior to painting. I use 300 gsm - 100% Cotton Paper (Cold Press & Hot Press) and for my sketchbook too (usually make my own for Watercolor). I don't like the sketch to disturb the painting underneath... Thanks for your input and cheers from Sunny Spain! 😁👍😎
I have never tried the prismacolor colored pencils but it has a wax-like finish to it. It doesn't really erase, unlike graphite pencils. Hope this helps!
Thanks for taking your lunch break to show us a bit of HK
Thanks for stopping by!!

Wow, that's amazing! Curious if you have any sketches for when you were here back then?
