Hullo Liz, I am having a bit of envy for you and your collection of watercolors! I am so glad that you are generous with sharing your experience with the new paints with us! I wish more people would share their experiences with the BlockX giant ceramic pans too! I have only used a pan of French Ultramarine that a friend purchased for a very large ocean painting! I just used a butcher’s tray and squeezed out a good 3/4 15 ml tube letting it dry for the wave painting I was commissioned to do. I used stretcher bars to get my paper stretched out to a 4 foot square! You have done a lovely job with these birds! I look forward to seeing the finished picture!
BlockX watercolors are great! They are all rated better or excellent lightfastness too! I have lusted after the giant ceramic pans for years, but I simply cannot get myself to spend the money on them, as honestly I have a lot of watercolors for someone who is not an active instructor! I have recently been shown the Tonic Water watercolors that are made for St. Louis Art Supply! They have the best starter set I have seen in quite some time! Thanks Liz for sharing your experience with us. These look nice but certainly not for everyone.
Interesting! I see they come in many colours (around 20-25 euros per colour). Have been unable to find pigment information, but the lightfastness is good indeed.
When I first saw the size of these pans I thought Heavens why would I need those?!? Now I see for artists like myself I prob wouldn't because my usual brush size is a 2. HAHA But for friends that love their big brushes these would be great fun!
Thank you for this video, I am thinking about getting bigger pans for bigger brushes. I was not thinking about pans this huge, though, that was RUclips's idea... I don't understand why the company doesn't have a more magenta-like red (the turquoise is close enough to cyan, I think) and as cyan, magenta and yellow is all a printer needs, we should cope with only these three colours as well. I am still looking for a "starter set" with them from any manufacturer...
crasy ... I have a little watercolor set by kuretake incl. 5 simular very useful colors + a effect gold, and I´ve a lot of fun with them, because with only these few colors the posibilities are endless... I can mix with them all what I need. I beleave you will have also a lot of fun for a very long time with your color selection.
Ok… First off. Im new to your channel. Good god. What a masterpiece from what I considered to be gimmick art supplies!! Im convinced you could paint with tar. Thankfully, Paul Rubens is a good brand though.😅
They would, of course, and to be honest I would use tubes and a big palette if I hadn’t been given them to try. Having said that the colours are yummy and they wet beautifully. some people prefer pans for storage and portability, I’m guessing.
@@LizChadertonStudio You're exactly right! I picked up a couple of these, after getting into using the Blockx Giant Pans. They're so convenient, much easier to use big brushes, and I don't have to worry about paints drying in the tube, since they're already dry, but accessible! Ordered the translucent turquoise and the red from Paul Rubens, can't wait to try it!
Dear Liz, one of many causes I love your channel is your pleasant voice and your beautiful pronunciation of English! But unfortunately, silly youtube decided to favour me with an automatic translation into my native language, spoken by an automatic voice in the manner of a teenager. The viewer can't change that. Please, dear Liz: only you can change that - do so! This automaton is unbearable ...
I’ve been looking into this and I have turned off automatic dubbing for the channel. I believe you can turn it off yourself too if you go into the setting for your account.. Best thing is to Google it for exact instructions. Let me know if it has worked!
Dear Liz, you are such a sweetheart! I can hear your friendly voice and your beautiful English again! Thank you so much! I had already searched extensively on Google for a way to change this setting myself. But apparently this is only possible for the provider. I guess Google still has some homework to do ... Best wishes from Braunschweig/Germany to Berkshire!
That's true, but are you saying there should never be new or different products? We only get innovations because whoever makes them thinks people will spend money on them. You always have the choice whether to buy or not.
@jannekeVisser-h8c yes they were sent for free. But just because they were free, doesn’t mean I don’t give my honest opinion. I thought the colours were lovely and behaved beautifully , but the range is very limited which is a downside for me.
@adk9215 I said right at the beginning that they were sent to me by Paul Ruben’s and the video is marked as such. I try to be very balanced when I review free product. I am not going to sell my soul for a bit of free paint. in this case, I really liked how the paint behaved but I thought the choice/range of available colours was odd and limited.
😂 yum yum yum. Great video, love the trees, and OMG the parrots 😍😍😍😍
Thank you!
wow, the parrots are stunning. i am coveting these giant pans
thank you!

if I didn’t have these I would do exactly the same and use tubes, but I did enjoy them, particularly the red. Ive never used Blockx
Thanks for the video,I can't imagine ever using these
to be fair, if I hadn’t been given them I would just use tubes, but the colours are stunning and some people prefer pans, so it’s fun to try them out
Blockx has large pans in porcelain (18 ml) if you do not want a Chinese paint, but when you want a Belgian paint of the very best quality.
That's really useful to know. Funnily enough Paul Rubens makes quite a bit out of their association with Blockx

@JannekeVisser-h8c Op de website van Blockx kun je doorklikken en staat de pigmentinfo.

Kijk op hun website, als je bij een kleur doorklikt krijg je de pigmentinfo.
Oh my gosh! Love, love the birds and these large watercolor pans!!! Fabulous!
Thank you so much!
When I first saw the size of these pans I thought Heavens why would I need those?!? Now I see for artists like myself I prob wouldn't because my usual brush size is a 2. HAHA But for friends that love their big brushes these would be great fun!
Yes - don't think these are the paints for you 😂

yes, I thought the colour selection was odd. I am guessing they will add more to the range if these are popular
That is beautiful! The parrots, I mean. Those pans are huge and I would need a massive workspace to use them. lol Good stuff though.
Yes. I have had to move out of my small studio to paint these - also it is freezing in there at the moment!
Lovely review. I liked that you explained the reason that someone would need pans of this size. I really like your macaw painting.
Oh thank you!
Fabulous Macaws, love these giant paints. Thank you for sharing Liz, your enthusiasm is infectious! Cheers🇨🇦
I may not be the best, but I can be enthusiastic!!
I love the macaws! Beautiful work! Those paints are massive, but look great. Thanks again Liz for sharing with us, you're awesome. 😊
They are beautiful, if a limited, range
Oh my those look awesome for big brushes!
They are fun to use
Very cool video!
Thank you very much!
Oooh, they're pretty! I love a pyrrole red, too!
it’s a yummy colour!
Wow, great video. I don’t think I’d use them but I could see the benefits. Your macaws are gorgeous!
Thank you so much!

I will do my best!
Great invention for your large paintings, brushes etc. Thanks
Usually i would just use tube colours and lots of it, but I did like these.
@ Like your animal paintings very much.
Great video and what an absolutely stunning painting! 😍 I have no doubt it’s going to be inspiring when finished.
I do hope so!
I don't do enough watercolour personally, but nice to know about the paint quality and your macaws are looking fabulous already 💙🧡❤️
Thank you so much!
Looking forward to see the finished painting later. Thanks for sharing, a bit too large pans for me 😊
Yes, not for small paint boxes!
Ok… First off. Im new to your channel. Good god. What a masterpiece from what I considered to be gimmick art supplies!! Im convinced you could paint with tar. Thankfully, Paul Rubens is a good brand though.😅
I’ve painted with coffee, but never tar 😆
Can't see why tubes would not do the job...
They would, of course, and to be honest I would use tubes and a big palette if I hadn’t been given them to try. Having said that the colours are yummy and they wet beautifully. some people prefer pans for storage and portability, I’m guessing.
Thank you for your review, gorgeous colors.
I mixed my own watercolors a few years ago…need to make more…would you like to try them?
Always love to try new paints - I am a magpie!
@ please send me your mailing address and I will be happy to send you some
Wow.. incredable size?
The paint or the painting?
I don’t understand - who is the target audience for this?
I guess people who like big brushes and lots of paint, but prefer pans over tubes?? that would be my guess but only Paul Ruben’s could say for sure

Most companies will try anything different to get people to spend money.
That's true, but are you saying there should never be new or different products? We only get innovations because whoever makes them thinks people will spend money on them. You always have the choice whether to buy or not.
Just another promotional video. How much did you pay for that product?
She said they sent them to her - I got the impression it was for free.
@jannekeVisser-h8c yes they were sent for free. But just because they were free, doesn’t mean I don’t give my honest opinion. I thought the colours were lovely and behaved beautifully , but the range is very limited which is a downside for me.

You didn't watch the video. You just added a nasty comment. Troll
