I had one of these. Loved it.
My original four-pipe exhaust was corroding through sadly, but I got a Yoshimura replacement which was excellent.
I rode the bike all year round, we all did back then. With British tyres fitted the handling was good (it came to me with Goodyear Eagles fitted and was terrifying). Lovely comfortable bike, decent tank capacity, nice engine, high quality instruments and controls. A quick check online shows only 20 of these left roadworthy in the UK. Very sad.

In September 1979 I signed the line that was dotted and traded my Honda 250 Superdream for a brand new Honda 750KZ exactly the same colour..........A few differences on the British spec bike were.
The wheels - were called Comstar / alloy wheels
    Front brakes - twin discs
    Lower handle bars
Chrome grab rail for the pillion / seat slightly different
    Faults:
After 3000 miles it blew a main shaft seal (design fault), I received the recall letter a month after it blew (well done Honda).
At the same time the baffles had detached from the exhaust system and were rattling around inside the cans (corrosion)
The bike was off road for approximately 5 months back at the dealers waiting on parts.
Main shaft seal eventually fixed / new exhaust system installed by Honda under warranty.
At 6000 miles the cam chain snapped at high revs, nearly spat me off, back to the dealers for engine repairs..........shortly after which I sold it.
When it wasn’t breaking down, it was a great ride, and your resto looks excellent but I’ve listed some of the issues associated with this model when it first came out. It’s probably been the single most unreliable Japanese bike I’ve ever owned. Yours will probably run and run all these old historical faults have long since been resolved - enjoy it 😎

A great bike to just have sitting there for those perfect weather days.
Sounds like it will be staying with you for some time yet.
It,s interesting how Honda used the same engine design for a few years.
Same engine cases as the 900 and the 1100.
Myself i don,t feel alive unless i have a bike.
Great feeling getting out on the road.
I have not found anything that comes close to feeling of riding a bike.
Thanks for the walk around tour.
    Peter.

Not running too well. You shut it off quick but I could hear the problem already. I bought one of these same bikes last year. I got it running really well. Cleaned out the carburetors without taking them off. The main problem was bad (old) ignition wires, and a partially plugged emulsifier jet. (dirt)

Use a 1/4 inch ratchet/socket and 1/4 inch bits to remove the float bowls. Drywall bits work very well. They are the perfect size and will not damage the screw head. Remove the starter cover (2 bolts, 8mm) to give yourself a bit more room. There are 2 screws for each bowl. Take care of the accelerator pump fittings on the second carburetor from the right side. Pull it straight down when removing it as there is a long tube that runs vertically from the bowl and care should be used not to bend it when removing it or losing the small "O" ring over top. You can use a mirror to view where the jets are screwed in from the bottom. Use a small straight well fitting screwdriver to remove them. Clean the brass primary circuit jets and hollow emulsifier jets, the ones with four small holes along the side. There is another jet above the first one that is removed. These are the ones that give the problem. One partially blocked opening and there you go, doesn't run right ! ! Make sure there is NO DIRT in the gas tank or fuel. Also check the ignition wires and spark plugs. Cylinders that don't idle well will have a cooler exhaust pipe that you can touch and this will tell you which cylinder is not firing properly. Been there, done that and now we have a really good running bike (1979 CB750 K 19,000 km)
