The only item I would HIGHLY recommend for Florida hiking that is not mentioned, particularly in the swampy areas, are gaiters. They keep the sand and muck out of your shoes and will prevent blisters and make hiking more comfortable. I use Dirty Girl Gaiters. $20 and they weigh nothing, plus they are “worn” gear anyway.
Hey girl...I'm a 63 year old retired Railroad worker in North Alabama. You're one of my favorite hiking channels to watch. I'm just getting into backpacking and trying to learn as much as I can about equipment. I have a few items from my camping days but I'm realizing I need to buy lighter equipment. I plan to do part of the Pinhoti Trail when the weather is cooler.
Thank you for all the great hiking information.
Great video, I was happy to see this pop up unexpectedly. I don't have a gear question, but I do have a Michael Jordon question. You don't seem old enough to have watched and appreciated, so am I incorrect or is there another more interesting story? Maybe add it to another video.
Thank you for the content.
I love the regular size of this Nemo closed-cell pad, because I cut the last four squares off of it and that is my sitting pad and front-of-tent pad. Bonus that I can fold it right along with the rest of the pad for carrying purposes.
A Z-seat is $20 otherwise.
We here in Nova Scotia enjoy your videos and Adventures.
Nice watch enjoying a coffee.
We are learning alot from you.
Alexander Springs is my home!!! Great gear list! Thanks
Waymark is awesome! I have a 40Lthru in Ranger Green w the stretch lycra material on the outside.
Nice shirt.
👍 to the sleep pad. Hard to pop one of those, and they're multi-use. Good call with extra tempered lens protectors; saved me countless times. Umbrella seems invaluable against sun, downpours etc. Great rundown Kelly. ✌️
Great gear recap, I have used the swit hack under my tensor because I'm older and sleep on my side nit to mention paranoid about holes in air mattress
Great video, thanks for sharing you gear list! Found your channel because of the Trail Tales podcast episode from Kyle recently
Keep it up!
Awesome!!!
Watched beginning to end. Thanks, Kel’!!! 🥾🏔️
Thank you for watching!
Love the Ship of Fools GD shirt :)
-your Florida buddy,
Sea Level
Thank you for posting this, very informative!!
Love this! Thanks for all the tips😊
Great video very comprehensive and well presented!
Adding an extra Thinlight Foam Pad or equivalent will help with comfort and insulation.
I keep a load of my survival gear with me when hiking and I wear a 550 pound paracord bracelet since it's good for everything. I also have an Apple Watch Series 5 which has the Explorer watch face in case if I was to forget my phone or the battery would've died and my watch is water resistant up to 160 feet (50m) and I'm currently saving up for the Apple Watch Ultra. By the way I'll be gone on July 7-8 going camping and floating down the river the next day.
Miss your content Kelly!!
More coming very soon! Stay tuned :)
Sawyer squeeze, 3 L cnoc. All u need!
I wonder how the X Mid is in bomber winds?
Have you been in wind with it?
Love your gear videos for the thru hiker ideas
Have not been with it in super high winds yet! Hopefully will be able to test it soon
What is up Kelly ❤ when I hike I bring as little fear as posable I like to carry extremely light waight
Ah Yay!!! Finally!!!!
Hi❤ nice and awesome video ❤
Hi Kelly, I am wondering about shoes. I was thinking about carrying a set of water shoes so that I would always be able to change into dry trail runners after the swamp/ water crossings. Would you do your shoes the same way if you were doing it again or take an extra pair?
What do you use to track your miles?
The Nitcore NB10000 battery brick only weighs 5.29 oz. if you want a lighter alternative.
10000 is not enough to power what I need to film
Love your videos! Question for you regarding the InReach. I have one and have tried it numerous times on the East Coast in fully wooded areas and had the texts fail. What has your experience been?
I usually have to find somewhat of an open sky but I can normally always get it to send!
What about a bear canister? Have encountered a few black bears on the Florida trail
I’d personally never carry a bear can on the FT
I also have no idea how you did this without a sun/rain umbrella. Had to be brutal at times
Just ordered a neck knife today!
Heck yes!!
Still want to know what happened in Panama City that got you off trail? Can you elaborate on that? Was it in relation to the guy that got stabbed on Eglin AFB?
I ordered a waymark mile backpack I'm going on 6 weeks still hasn't shipped how long did it take for you to get yours
They take a while. Mile should be quicker than the Thru which I waited 3 months for.
Yeah Im thinking it should be soon I know waiting for something sucks lol
@@nickhikesinthewoods6150 worth the wait. I know they've gotten better over the last few months. Cost/Quality it's the best pack maker out there in my opinion. Over $100 less than competitors and Mark stands behind his packs 100%
They hand make all their gear so it takes a little while! They have awesome customer service so I’m sure if you email them they will give you an update :)
I guess I'm just excited and can't wait lol
I need to get off my couch.
Bear bagging?
I never did
👍🙏👏
As a pasty white guy, I would stand a better chance on Everest than the Florida Trail
I didn't see a link to the little warning flashers at 31:18.
I will add!
