This was a really good tutorial. I like how you go into detail about good practice for tidying up the node layout and properly labeling node groups. The only thing that's missing is showing how to hook the rim light up to a dot vector math node in order to make the rim light move with the camera...but that principle is very similar to the 'outline', so I was able to figure it out by working backwards.
hi, thank you for the comment, for your concern, I have never tried it as well but I may thinking what you need to hook is not the math node, but the light itself since the rim light is generated from the light source as well.. hope this works!
One of the best shaders tutorial! What would need to change on the shader if we wanted to give the material an lightmap texture, to have controlled shadows on a anime face?
hi, thank you for your appreciation, honestly I never tried it but my logically and guessing it can works by putting a typically alpha texture with only 2 colors but in this case use black(as none) and either red, green or blue color as (light) for specific selected channel... but since white is neutral so it can works as well but it will light up all rgb channel..
