- I played WWE 2K22 and I was pleasantly surprised... That's not something I thought I'd say after playing this game. I got to test WWE 2K22 on January 13th. I got to play with VYBE (SimplyBetterAM & Phoenix Nitro). We played a near-final build of the game. We saw everything that will be in the game. The only thing we didn't see were the Showcase mode unlockables.
I'm still under NDA so I can't discuss everything I saw so I will be discussing my overall first impressions of the game. I talk about MyGM, MyRISE, & more. Shout out to 2K and Visual Concepts for flying us out to California for this opportunity. It's greatly appreciated.

It is the twenty-sixth game in the WWE game series and the ninth game under the WWE 2K banner. It will be released in March 2022 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

Second, the game isn’t even out yet, hell, not even gameplay has been released; so to say that this game is going to be great or “fire”, just wait and see. That is what happened to 2k20, most reviews said the game was good with minor nitpicks and look at how that turned out

It's so cool that you guys got to play it early, I was very sceptical this year but I'm liking what I'm hearing, it's suprising that both MyGM and Universe are in it. Are they going to feel like completely modes?
Has anyone noticed it has a day of reckoning vibe with a more simulation feel and presentation? Plus the added gm mode, I think it draws inspiration from all series before(a tiny bit). Cant wait to see how it plays out.

@@flyersluver4eva They have a schedule, aren't going to change anything because of leaks. We've seen stuff that's "rescanned" & new moves alongside. Shouldn't be anything less to 2k19 but don't have "high" expectations. Thanks for commenting!
They have been lacking matches since wwe12 it’s been the same since. All was taken out and brought back was Special Guest Ref and Mixed tag matches. They literally hyped 2k20 as a mixed tag match as the main popular feature. Special guest ref is still out. The fact we have to wait next year for new match types and gameplay sucks I’ve been waiting for 3 stages of hell, lumberjack match and improved match types since 2013. That’s foul a ps2 game could have all this and more.

In the trailers you could just have 3 matches and 2 segments in MyGM and I really hope that you can book more than that
My guess is they are working on adding more. Maybe just for now they wanted to see how that format would work and see if people enjoyed it. Now that it’s seeming to be good they probably go back and add more matches

One small feature i like and i would like to see is when pins get broke the person that gets hit gets hurt and a feature i like is how they added pyro stands

Is the gameplay still the same super slow style ? I miss the gameplay from the first wwe 2k i believe was 2k14 the one that had The Rock in the cover.. They never made one like that again.. The gameplay on all others was super slow, from the moving to the executing moves all felt too slow and i hated that.. I liked the fast paced moving ason 2k14
I'm so happy brandon and the rest of vybe are finally being recognized as some of the best wwe game creators out there

As a massive Rey Mysterio fan. I cannot wait to do the Showcase mode. Really hoping we get some ECW matches like vs Psychosis. WCW matches should be more than one or two. I think Halloween Havoc 97 vs Eddie is obvious, but I think Starrcade 96 vs Liger should be in as well. I've heard there is a Starrcade 96 Rey Mysterio rumored for 2k22 , so I hope that is true and the match is in. The 1998 Starrcade vs Kidman and Juvi would be fantastic. Another underrated feature of including all these different eras of Mysterio is that community creations could essentially recreate almost any Mysterio ring attire from his career, because instead of just having the one version of the mask that was in previous games where it wasn't a full mask and had straps, there would be multiple versions of Rey's mask available to edit since the WCW full mask was not the same as the WWE full mask and the later WWE half mask with straps is not the same as the current WWE half mask with straps and the Mohawk. The possibilities to recreate classic Mysterio ring attires are really endless, and I can't wait to see what skilled caws creators do on Community Creations.
They need to bring back Story design/ create a story mode where we can put in our own Cut scenes promos anything we like

I did have an open mind about this however I still had ptsd from 2k20 so I was hoping it would be at least playable but after listening to this I am a lot less sceptical and more looking forward to where they drop more content coming closer to release so we can all actually see 2 years improvements.

I’m not going to lie this game is like a guilty pleasure for me. I buy it every year & always want big improvements. I’m actually a bit excited mainly for GM mode. That one mode might be the only reason I preorder. Who knows though. Hopefully everyone enjoys it!

Glad the game sounds enjoyable so far. Just really want gameplay to be good and less bugs. Also I hope they add alot of attires in the game or more clothing gear for wrestlers. The past 2k's just recycled what the wrestler wore in previous game.

The actual photo of the wrestlers as the icons is so much better than the bland look from past games.
Brandon i know you can’t talk about much of the game rn buuut my main pet peeve in 2k20 was how the combo move sequences were way to fast and i’m hoping in 2k22 they were kinda more smoother n slower so could you maybe share a lil bit on like how the combo moves looked and functioned

Hearing your good impressions about the game gives me hope that it will be good and way better than 2K20. The models of the superstars in 2K22 look really good so far. I didn’t pre order 2K20 and I’m glad I didn’t with how it turned out when it released cause I had a feeling it would be bad. I only played it during a free trial weekend on Xbox and it seemed a bit better since release but still wasn’t that good. I’ll definitely wait for more gameplay before I decide to get 2K22 or not

i wanted to see more about this year’s game and what im most looking forward to is how they differentiate gm mode from universe mode and how similar gm mode is to 06, 07, & 08…
AND the female myrise… is very intriguing. and something i miss from career mode in older games is the variety of voices you can choose from… i dont want my southern hottie to sound like a she’s from ohio or cali, if you know you know 🤣 but im very interested just from these clips that were included.
I never expected them to put the GM mode back in. This is probably one of the most wanted modes and finally they've listenend, I literally skipped the last 2k game from WWE because of all them reviews and what not. 2k has good ideas but their executions on some parts are just questionable imho. Then again... I very new to the 2k era. My favorite WWE games were literally the SvR games. They are really good and unique frfr... Hopefully this game delivers and that boy BDE ain't sellin some BS on us. We can only pray and hope.
So far, it looks very solid. Cant wait! Also i am both happy and a bit jelly of you that you got to try it out.

I played WWE 2K22 early as well, and I definitely agree with you. In fact, my experience playing WWE 2K22 was so fun, there are match types such as Singles, Tag team, and triple threat match types in WWE 2K22. Plus, you can even run your own WWE Brand in the new WWE Universe Mode. Customize your show to your liking. WWE 2K22 is the best wrestling game ever, and I already pre-ordered my copy. If you're a video game fan then you should definitely buy WWE 2K22 on March 11th 2022!
