Lely Resort is one of the nicest places in the world. I started retirement first at Beaufort, SC. Very close to Savannah. Went to Savannah often. We moved to Naples after five years. Medical in Savannah and SC is bad. Savannah has a winter. Naples is endless Summer. Gnats … No-Seeums, so much less of an issue in Naples than Savannah. I could go on and on.
Thanks so much for tuning in and for sharing your experience! Clear advantages to the Lowcountry and to the Naples area, no doubt! Lots of eye of the beholder "stuff"--in the end, my goal is to halpe every client find their ideal spot wherever it may be (and regardless of how it affects my bottom line). My SO is a nurse, so I can certainly relate to some of your comments re the medical care. Kind of depends on what you need (trauma centers in Savannah as a "real" city versus the aging demographic in Naples).
@@livinginnaplesfla my husband got a deadly infection from a contaminated heater-cooler device used during the bypass process of open heart surgery in the Lowcountry. It took a second open-heart surgery (not in the Lowcountry) to perform a human aortic root transplant to cut out the infection. He’s still on serious drugs almost two years later. I haven’t even gotten started on crime rates in Naples vs. Savannah. Aging matters a LOT. My husband is only 67.
@@livinginnaplesfla, by the way, we ended up in Fort Myers. We stayed for Hurricane Ian. Even after weathering a nearly Cat 5 storm I’d choose SWFL over the Lowcountry. That’s saying something. I loved the Lowcountry. 5 years later I couldn’t dislike a place more.
