Maxpax is the 2nd highest rated player in the world currently, it's just his parents don't let him compete. So Protss IS good NOW, (before it was super weak), but it's underrepresented since people gave up on the race, or the one super player that uses the race isn't allowed to play in person. Maxpax is at least top 4 of almost all the online tournaments.
Protoss is not underpowered imo, there are just not many top Protoss players around. Right now id say Max Pax is by far the best Protoss player, with the cleanest play, Hero just makes too many mistakes in comparisson. Sadly Max Pax dosent play offline tournaments, because i am sure he would be a strong contender. As further evidence for my initial statement, look at Reynor. His Protoss (again imo) is at least on par with Heroes, and its not even his main race! Personally id say Reynor right now is the second best Protoss player behind Max Pax and i think that sums up the real problem Protoss has. Or in other words, if Serral would play Protoss instead of Zerg, everyone would call Protoss OP.
@@Daniel-rd6st the same MaxPax who gave an interview in disgust at Patch 5.0.12? That patch that Winter produced a one hour video dismantling how badly it was put together, showing more nuance than any member of the 'Balance Council' - a nonsense that Probe has commented on the very conflict of interest such a thing existing automatically contains? The same Serral who has specifically, in two separate interviews, stated he plays Zerg precisely because it's always been the most powerful race by a large margin? Perhaps we should bring in Dark, who commentators have decried for years as having the sloppiest early game on earth and still wins all the damned time, at all stages in the game? I look at results and see, that Max Pax can and does beat the best. One shouldnt really ask top players about ballance and least among them Dark who always thinks himself to be the best of the best :p . Also, then why is the current world champion a Terran player, and not even a top one (no disrespect towards Oliviera here) like Maru or Clem or Cure? Also Darks early game isnt sloppy, he freestyles a lot, which changes his timings and often confuses opponents. He knows how to drag games into chaos and thrives in those conditions (which is what makes him fun to watch). Has can do similar stuff, but his problem is, that he isnt great at playing "standard" games, which dark can and often does, so in tournaments he gets bodied, because people just expect him to cheese every game. "And as for your drivel regarding the standard of Reynor's off-race, yeah, no." Yes. He even beat Serral with Protoss, a race that you claim is totally underpowered. Amazing how Blizzard wasted no time in removing the mother ship core but never thought about removing the most OP unit in the game: widow mines. the most hated and absurd unit of all time in SC. Invisible shoots air and ground, cost almost nothing, can erase in no time your mineral line, has range, recharge for ever, burrow in no time, has good HP, can make 2 at a time, doesn t need much tech . Wow it looks more like a warcraft or diablo unit that belongs to the fantasy realm. Sc2 is a science fiction RTS right? fokk you Blizz
Gotta nerf Protoss. Theyre obviously too strong as there were still 2 left in the Round of 12. C'mon belence concsel bring the hammah down more harshly.
Anyone else remember Reynor playing against Serral and his APM is something like 550? Can anyone remember Hero playing at 550 APM for a whole game? Anyone? It's almost as if other players are better than Hero, and it might not be because of imbalance.
Since the beginning of StarCraft 2, I've been frustrated with the balance between Terran and Protoss factions. Terran units like Medivacs seem unrealistic-a flying air carrier unit that heals others? Mines that hit air units? It's hard to suspend disbelief. Compared to StarCraft 1, Terran bio units have become significantly stronger. For example, Marauders are much more powerful than Firebats, and Marines are more durable. The Ghost in SC2 is far superior to its SC1 counterpart. On the other hand, Protoss units seem to have been left behind. Zealots have weaker stats, and their Charge ability is underwhelming. Stalkers feel weaker compared to Dragoons, and they only shine in the hands of the top skilled Protoss players. Colossi have been nerfed to the point where they struggle against Terran bio units like Marauders, and Immortals don't deal enough damage to non-armored units. Overall, it often feels like Protoss players win either because they're exceptionally skilled or they get lucky with a few good Disruptor hits. It's frustrating to see such an imbalance in the game, and it makes me question the decisions made by the designers at Blizzard.
Protoss needs a damn buff, its so dumb , after 8 minuts of game there is just no good counter to marines + marauders. The warp units are so costly and good for nothing. Terrible balance, this game is dead!
All terran harass is low cost needs almost no attention, this makes protoss almost impossible to win for multi-games in a match, because one mishandling and you are done.
Hero has made a major blunder every single game over the past year, and people honestly wonder why he doesn't win more tournaments. He still heavily relies on F2, and never has a unit in his wall. I'm honestly amazed he's even in the top 10 players, Protoss is so good. Maxpax is too predictable and always uses 4-gate blink, meanwhile Hero low-key sucks.
Rather than criticizing players much better than us, lets simply look at some maths. If the races are balanced, and skill is unrelated to race, and we assume whichever race someone plays more or less random. Then let's take the top 8 players of the tournament and have them roll a 3 sided dice for P, T or Z. The odds that a chosen race wont show up at all is = (2/3)^8 = 3.9%. About 1 in 25, and yet it happened again. Including the fact the race has struggled historically, there's something going on here. I think we are at the point of blatant bias to consider that it just so happens none of the best players ever choose to play Protoss. Also comparing APM of players on the fastest expanding race, who gain resources from easy micro such as creep spread, injects as well as having a higher supply to other races makes little sense. If Blizzard made it that Protoss gained risk free resources by micro'ing a zealot in a circle I'm sure the players would suddenly jump up in APM. But no lets ignore the numbers and listen to @justsaying2181 professional opinion that co-incidentally all Protoss players just suck.
Dude have you seen his control group ??? Before critisizing his F2s you need to check his control groups and how he manages his fights. Yes he makes some stupid mistakes but he have his own fighting style that places him in the top 3 toss
Watch the game on Radhuset Station LE where Reynor defeats Serral late game as Protoss. It was a game played a month or so ago. There Reynor's APM is 550 as Protoss. Also Maxpax is currently sitting as the 2nd best player in the world, and he's super predictable, like a 2018 Serral. If MaxPax played more of an unpredictable style like Hero, and never made mistakes like Serral, then he'd be higher rated than Serral. (Protoss used to be super under-powered, but not as much anymore, it's just that pro players gave up on the race cause it was awful before). @@Static2332

Hero is so good in the recent late game. Sure, he is prepared for the final, it's a pity no P in the semifinals.
Hero literally makes a massive mistake every game. And the dude doesn't know how to have a unit in his walloff to save his life.
5 Terrans 3 Zergs and 0 Protoss in Round of 8. It's really not fun to watch this game anymore when one race is always left out.
You really have to dig deep to find Protoss pro gameplay.
