That was the first Nascar race I had ever attended and my favorite Dale Earnhardt won. My picture was taken that day as well. Such a great memory it is.

firehawk50 thank you for posting this race. I was and still am huge Petty "Kyle" and Pontiac guy so of course I supported Bobby Hamilton too. That STP paint scheme was awesome looking. Those new Pontiacs were sharp looking with those new noses. The Kyle Coors Light paint scheme (I have no idea what they were thinking with that). Earnhardt I'm still mixed with him, great driver, grit, determination never will question. However sometimes his "Intimidator" was just dumping cars at times so when he did it Bobby who was on his way to win that race, that just pissed me off. Although he did get some boos from that because most people would have loved to see the 43 in victory lane, now when spun Terry in 99 at Bristol man that whole place was booing him. Now Dale who usually didn't care about what people said about his driving, you could tell when he got out of the in victory lane he looked kind of sheepish like *yeah I deserve them*....lol. although I loved I think it 99 or 2000 Pocono when Mayfield "rattled his cage", you know Dale was thinking "I can't even get upset with him...lol

Awesome save by Hamilton. Andretti had a very close one as well at 22:08.

    DNQ: 27-Elton Sawyer, 78-Randy MacDonald*, 93-Gary Bradberry*, & 63-Dick Trickle.
First TNN broadcast for Eli Gold, after Mike Joy stepped down. Perhaps Mike had more duties with CBS, who were grooming him to replace Ken Squier?

On February 26, 1996, the late Dale Earnhardt, who represented Richard Childress Racing, defeated Dale Jarrett, who represented Robert Yates Racing, to win the 1996 GM Goodwrench Service 400, which was held at the Rockingham Speedway. The 2nd race of the 16th Year of NASCAR Racing on Philippine Television was jointly produced by Television and Production Exponents, Inc. and SilverStar Communications, Inc. and aired live, nationwide, and via-satellite on GMA Network and Citynet Television 27 with a radio simulcast on DZBB 594 Radyo Bisig Bayan and Campus Radio 97.1 WLS FM

Along with Dick Trickle, those are the only "rags to riches" drivers that have raced in Winston Cup in the last 20 years.

I was pulling for Rudd and I was upset to see him have to make that pitstop that left him without a shot at taking it from the intimidator

What a worthless caution with 3 laps remaining when the crashed car restarted
