i must have missed the moment - was the COE of SA glass mentioned?

The glass is Schott S8, and has a COE of around 108. It is commonly used with Effetre / Moretti that has a COE of 104. Although that is normally to much of a spread between coefficients, the fact that the s8 encapsulates the other glass and puts it in compression creates a very strong finished object.

Corningmuseumofglass thanks :-) is it true that this can also be done using Zeiss optical lenses?

Eyal Shamir I'm sorry, but I don't know what those are. If they are a type of glass then maybe an experiment will be the best way to figure it out basic compatibility.
