I've seen tons of painting videos and yours is by far the best that shows how taking the time to get the best results, not to mention what base colors and metallics pair well together!! I am truly inspired to finally paint an armoire I've been putting off painting for about 3 years!!
You are such a great instructor!! I just found your channel, what a blessing!! Thank you for doing these. I know this is an older one but I’m just starting out so I need to fine tune my technique, and you give me the confidence to do that! Can’t wait to watch more! 😇
This video helped so much! I was getting frustrated because I followed the one on DB website and it was not nearly as in depth as your video. Thank you for taking the time to share in depth how to use the Metallics.
Great video. Very informative. I've got a base coat on a vintage vanity that I'm in the process of doing and going to apply Silver Bullet on the body and Rosay on the front of the drawers. Thanks for showing how to get a streak free finish.
Thank you! You’re teaching style is superb. Seriously, I’m very grateful to have discovered this video...and you. Now I know what to do with the old dresser I just stripped and am ready to attack with paint.
I just love ur tutorials ....you teach me so much....I have a question...I'm Painting a credenza that the client wants Red. .so I'm using DB honkey tonk red and barn red ...So I'm Needing to figure out How to Throw a little metallic in the top coat that Wud give a little shimmer to the Red. ..what do I need to add a touch of metallic shimmer over the Red. . please help haha ..🤯🤯❣️🙏❣️
I finally started working on the beautiful items I scored on curbsides. I'm in love with peacock and all shades of green and blue and oh my goodness I can't wait to receive my paints in the mail. I wish I could post the finished product 😏 This tutorial was perfect and thank you for not adding weird loud sound effects and useless information. You rock! 💕 California Edit* If my end table comes out as pretty as I've been dreaming of I'll name it The Crys Dawna
I've recently discovered your channel, thank you for your great advice! I've not found anyone like you here in Sydney, Australia. 👍👍😊. Love love Dixie belle too.
Thanks for your tutorials. You are very easy to follow. Question for you, everyone does dressers, doors, etc., but I'm looking for a unique finish for a dining room table. Would you recommend grey caulk paint with silver metallic finish?
I know that you posted this video so long ago but I am going for the carnival glass look on a makeup vanity. A regular size makeup vanity. I’m going with the peacock . I’m not to experienced when it comes to pain so is 8oz enough for a vanity? Also my vanity is smooth. This dresser is not if you know what I mean 😂 I can hear you painting it because of its texture. Do I still need the steel wool if my vanity is smooth?
Hello Crys Dawna. I am wondering if you have used furniture transfers over metallic paint? I am wondering if it looks good or it's over too much. Thank you and I love your videos 🥰.
Forgive me if you already have a video on this, but I looked and couldn't find it. Blending with metalics, I'd love to see a demo. I'm working on a jewelry armoire that I want to do in blue and pink metalic and I am assuming where it blends it would be a sort of purple. What blue metalic from Dixie-belle would you suggest to blend best with Rozay, Pacific or Caribbean? I was thinking of mixing the 2 50/50 to help with the blend, but would love some input or advice? Thanks 😉 😊
@@BellaRenovare ok, one more question..I am doing my first commission piece, black, with transfers and molds. What metallic would you use over black, not to change the color, but to enhance it? I've wondered about silver, and then wipe away
Hi Rose!!!! oooo yessss okay so that is MoonShine Metallics Deep Woods, you will want a base coat under, called palmetto you can find them both here 👇🏻👇🏻 dixiebellepaint.com/palmetto-chalk-paint/?aff=119 dixiebellepaint.com/moonshine-metallics-new-colors/?aff=119
Hi, Crys'Dawna :-) This piece is absolutely stunning and I'd like to attempt replicating it! In the photos at the beginning of your video, it looks as though you used other (goldish?) tones, creating highlighted areas. Can you please share all of the products that you used to get this beautiful end result? I would certainly appreciate it!
That was great! Thanks for showing us how to use these products. I recently bought my first Dixie Bells paint in Blueberry. Would that work as an undercoat for the blue metallic paint? And if .it would, are you a stock list?
Priscilla Waller it would work! It may give you a slightly lighter look but it would work because the shades are similar I am a brand ambassador so I do have a link you can order from :) I am always here to answer any questions you may have as well Here is the link dixiebellepaint.com?aff=119
Getting ready to use Deep Moss Moonshine Metallic to fix the drawers to the bedroom I messed up. I painted the faces of all the 20 drawers to my white bedroom set in a ombre of nautical blue, medium teal, and lemongrass yellow. Unfortunately this looked better in my twisted cat brain than in reality. Hopefully, Deep Moss will save the day.
It looks like the metallic lifts the base coat. Did you use a primer first? I heard from others if you use a primer the chalk paint won't lift with a metallic paint. They did not use Dixie Belle paint though. Beautiful color !
My rustoleum metallic accents paints also call for a roller but it makes little bubbles. I don't like the way it looks. I think i might try using a brush instead.
so I prefer a brush but honestly its up to you, like Stacy said she didn't like the bubbles....you could use a roller and then go over with a brush to eliminate the bubbles but then that's more work
Thank you for the tutorial. I’ve been watching lots of them before I tackle my first project and yours is very helpful! Can I blend with metallic paints as well? I’d love to do a silver with some blue in the detailed wood work. Would that work?
You showed the misting bottle in the beginning but you never used it in your video nor explain what/when you are spraying...any explanation on this one, please?
Marion Gates I had it just in case I needed to dampen my piece a little more. I always have a mister bottle when I paint just to help the paint glide better.
You looked so radiant and gorgeous sitting in from of the cobalt blue headboard. Your hair and the orange shirt was such a crazy pretty color combination to me for some reason. Check yourself out girl! I’m wondering what I can do to make a metallic magenta or peony . I saw some prints on a site called mineheart.com. One had a metallic magenta frame and the print was mostly gray and black. If you want to see some out there gone decor, wow! Check this site out. I want to make a frame for a black and white photo that will sort of be an anchoring piece for my sewing space. See what you think ok? Thx!
I read on www.tasteofhome.com/collection/steel-wool-uses/ : "(if using water-based paint, minute bits of leftover steel wool may rust)" ...So I'd think twice about using steel wool with waterbased paints!

Dawn, what metallic would go well with a lavender or purple?
Thanks..
Good question!! I think silver bullet would go well with lavender and purple :)
Hey sweetie. ..So I'm wondering IF there's a Metallic purple Dixie belle
There is not, I hope someday!!!
It looks like the metallic lifts the base coat. Did you use a primer first? I heard from others if you use a primer the chalk paint won't lift with a metallic paint. They did not use Dixie Belle paint though. Beautiful color !
I have never had the base coat lift with the metallic coat. I do not use a primer with metallics except the base coat like color.
Do you sand your base coat at all before applying metallics, or does it go on better with a rough coat?
hey there so I cleaned the piece really well whitelightnening which degassed it and cleaned and then I painted :)
Can the moonshine metallics be used on painted hardware?
Tiffany Barrett yes absolutely!!
Should I use the exact same technique if I’m painting a metal trunk instead of wood?
yes same technique :) you mayyyy need a bonding primer like slick stick :)
Por favor, sustitula lo que habla para poder entederla
