RIAT is the most likely to get on TV so there is more music in it but in the main programme it is entirely confined to the links between aircraft and rarely runs for more than about 15 seconds. It generally starts after the roll out and finishes before the next aircraft has reached the camera whilst taking off. These are the quietest points, so quiet in fact that our cameras are probably not picking up sound - our powerful lenses deceive you into thinking you are nearer than you are. There are lots of quick cut and slow motion clips in these 15 second transitions so aircraft sound cuts fitting the vision would be disconcerting. I do accept that there is more music in the special features but that is where we put the stuff that the enthusiasts would complain about if it was in the main programme. Again, the picture cuts so regularly between interviewee and aircraft in different positions eg static, taxying, flying slow, flying fast that to feature the aircraft sound here would be very disconcerting on the ear. What you may not be aware of is that on the second disc in the Collector's Edition aimed at enthusiasts there is no music whatsoever. I have checked the music balance levels and they are fine but what is probably happening with your TV system is that it is over-emphasising music. My Samsung soundbar has an extraordinary and clever series of settings including "clear voice" which reduces music levels dramatically. I do take your point and agree with it but we haven't had anyone else complain so we've probably got it about right.

Absolutely not, It is the only jetfighter in the world that can deploy the landing gear in a looping like at 2:40, so you will never see another fighter doing the same maneuver, that's for your second point. As per your first point, some of these moves would be useful, others would not, but in any case a more agile jet is better than an iron, and if you cannot see the Rafale is among the most agile after this show i do not know what to say...it would be like not finding water at the sea.
cheesefrogsnail Now, why don't you tell me why a planes would deploy their landing gears during a dogfights?? Do you even know that no fighters would dare to deploy their landing gears due to the undue stress it would put on the landing gears and related parts during heavy G maneuvers? Also their speed would be much higher during dogfights. Sure, some of the maneuvers can be done in a limited way, but try doing that during dogfighting will slow the fighter down which the wrong thing to. Speed is king in a dogfighting.
Certainly not, i reacted to your first statement "This is a low speed manuveurs, which all modern aircraft can do", this is just not true, like it or not but the Rafale can do things that no other fighter can do as of today. Are all these maneuvers useful in combat? probably not, but the goal of an airshow is to show the capabilities of the planes, and i would say good maneuvrability with landing gear out can be useful, when approaching an aircraft carrier under bad weather i.e. which Rafale M can do as opposed to many. BTW they fly up to 600 knts during display which is just below mach 1, so this is not always "Low speed" maneuvers as you said and pretty realistic if a dogfight was to take place and had to last for a while (but facing a Rafale it won't i agree on that).
Yeah many of those moves aren't useful in combat, but from what I've seen Rafale is incredibly energetic in fast sharp maneuvers. MiG-29 for example, which I am more familiar with, feels like a brick in comparison.
Fantastic video. I made a video on our day at the show but don't have anywhere near the technology you had to film this. But we do what we do and I'm happy with the result. Keep up the good work planes.tv

Is there any modern figher aircradt that is more agile than Rafale? Agility is THE most important aspect of the WVR engagement, but everyone just keeps on babbling about supermaneuverability.
Rafale is pretty much a 5th gen aircraft, it's just not actually considered 5th gen because it doesn't have a completely stealth airframe design, but the systems inside are 5th gen
According to the Industrials in 2017, the Rafale has a maintenance cost of around 17100$/hour (half of what you claimed), the Eurofighter, above 18000$/hour, the F-16C around 20000$/hour and the F-35A, 31200$/hour.

Il est très bien ce rafale et son pilote !
Is there any modern figher aircradt that is more agile than Rafale?
Agility is THE most important aspect of the WVR engagement, but everyone just keeps on babbling about supermaneuverability.

Can Rafale make 5th generation fighter plane??? Indian Airforce wants more Rafale ,,,,
Rafale is pretty much a 5th gen aircraft, it's just not actually considered 5th gen because it doesn't have a completely stealth airframe design, but the systems inside are 5th gen
FoxMikeHotel yeah Rafale can beat the Chinse j-20 No doubt , that's why India wants more Rafale,
The other planes in its class look like irons ...
Rafael is sexy jet stylish as well waiting for it come India next year 👌👌👌👌

Rafale is too expensive 35000$/hour F16-7000$/hour Eurofighter/?hour F-35/?hour
According to the Industrials in 2017, the Rafale has a maintenance cost of around 17100$/hour (half of what you claimed), the Eurofighter, above 18000$/hour, the F-16C around 20000$/hour and the F-35A, 31200$/hour.
