    I was analysed True Autumn and was specifically explained to me, that bright warm colours are overpowering me and my best colours are actually in all the three Autumn sub seasons because they don't bring difference on my appearance , i've also received a lot of " best colours" and are an combination from all three Autumn sub groups! So i agree completely! When i put warm bright colours on me i don't look good even there is the right temperature, i have to pay more attention on chroma,softness must be added! 😊

    Completely recommend the Streamline Your Style course. I don't have tons of clothes, because I buy/not wear/ and then give away 80% of it... this course was a true self discovery and now I buy things according to my style, the style I have refined and that resonates true to me. Classic, relaxed and with a touch of drama. Sarah was amazing.

I’ve been professionally analyzed as a True Summer in the definition you’re using now and I can tell you, it’s spot on!! I don’t have a sister season but I get to enjoy ALL the range of summer colors and I love it 🥰

  • @mariacorretge6615
    @mariacorretge6615 8 месяцев назад +4

    That might well be the truth. I am a spring in the four season system, but don't know my subtype. What I know is that if I "borrow" from autumn it tires me, my skin doesn't shine, even though I really like the colours and as much as I'm attracted to winter colours, they "wear" me, rather than the other way around. I also tried some light spring colours and I could wear them, whereas I am "dark" for a spring, in terms of having dark brown natural hair and brown eyes.

      Yes very possible to have dark features but not be a dark/deep season. Commonly mistyped :)

  • @eliali6484
    @eliali6484 8 месяцев назад +4

    I'm self analyzed Soft Summer but I was a little bit confused by the colors that my skin actually tolerates. Some of the colors in the Soft Summer palette are too warm and muted (shop experience :) but I can wear Light Sommer and Cool Summer colors very well if they have some softness in it. In the same time before I used to wear a lot of Cool Winter colors and they looks very good on me but too bright. Warm colors make me look sick, very yellowish - cooler is better. But I can't wear clear colors also. May be True Summer is the answer 😄
    Well, it doesn't matter now because when I shop I choose by coolness and softness, not too dark colors, and somehow I stay in the right palette for me. The main test remains freshness of the skin when I try the garment, so... But Interesting to know 🙂

    The confusion comes i think because some systems like Sci Art replace the warm/cool palettes for the seasons with the "true" seasons and most 16 palette systems have both and the true seasons are a "Goldilocks" palletes that they have all qualities of the season and none of the others. They aren't on any borders or have any flows or sister palettes.

      @@sarahryanthestylecoach I agree. As one in a temperature dominant palette I am definitely warm dominant not balanced between warm, light, and bright. Warm definitely works better than "true". I'm still learning but I got typed as a warn autumn. In some systems, that actually means you are a true warm palette, which is actually a palette between spring and true autumn. I originally thought that warm autumn was the same as true autumn but in some systems that is not the case. The true autumn is actually slightly deeper that the warm autumn palette.
    The true autumn colours are a touch too deep for me.

    Cool summer may be my sub season. I’ve noticed that I really need some contrast and I can handle it well. More muted summer colors just don’t give me vibrancy. But then I have to be careful with winter colors, some of which I can borrow. Black may be too overpowering for me without makeup, but otherwise I can pull it off.

    I have to say that I am still struggling a bit with finding my changed colours with ageing! Would love a video on that subject; although suspect everyone is different? I was a happy deep autumn for several decades, until my hair started having some grey, I have coloured it slightly lighter and lighter until light, warm brown and my eyes have naturally gone from deep olive to mid green, a lot lighter and more greeen. The original consultant retired, so went to another and was told warm autumn now, but colours can be a bit too warm on me, the soft autumn is too faded looking. Another one draped me as bright spring and yet another as warm spring. I am just wondering if its possible to go from muted to bright with age, surely your colours soften a bit? I don't feel happy in very bright colours at all and some of the spring feels too light. Once I've had one of these "new" consultations, am happy for a few weeks and buy some new clothes, only to find they are not really working and am disappointed again. Any ideas about how we change with age? Some consultants say we don't change at all, but the deep autumn is definately too dark and dulled down now and makes me look slightly ill.

    About colours; the names of the colours, are they always the same? Take for example lemon yellow. Is it always x% yellow and y% blue in it ?
    Or do i take a chance every time i shop lemon yellow online? Or electic blue, fuchisa etc.
    It is difficult to shop online when the colour just is namned yellow. If i order the same top two times, i can get two different colours. That has happend to me.

      I got one in the late 80’s and I was an autumn and another one 2 years ago and I am dark autumn. But I don’t look good in some of the true autumn colors. She thought I was true autumn at first but I went back because I told her I didn’t look good in some of the colors. Then she said I was dark. I can’t believe I’m anything else just from self diagnosing but maybe I’m dark autumn through and through and can pick and choose from other autumn sun seasons and dark winter but can only use some colors from each.

  • @Deem57
    @Deem57 8 месяцев назад +6

    This video really made me think, Sarah, and I enjoyed that. So, if a true season has balanced characteristics, then the subseasons will have dominant and less dominant characteristics. For example, a Deep Autumn's dominant characteristic will be deep(ness), then muted and warm (in varying proportions for the latter 2)? A Soft Autumn's dominant characteristic will be soft(ness), then muted and warm (again in varying proportions for the latter 2)? It therefore makes sense that a Deep Autumn would be able to borrow from the other deep season and a soft season would be able to borrow from the other soft season. And because a True Autumn would not have brightness in her colour characteristics, she then would not be able to borrow from True Spring and find the colour suited her well. She would find colours from other autumn palettes would work better for her. Makes sense to me!

    • @sarahryanthestylecoach
      @sarahryanthestylecoach  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes it's not that the true seasons have less or more dominant characteristics but in fact the opposite, there is nothing dominant or 'weaker', just equal in its qualities.

    Hello, Sarah. I love your channel. I was a BeautiControl consultant and did color analysis way back in the 90's and have always believed that we should ignore the trends and wear what looks best on us. So many of my summer friends were incorrectly analyzed as spring and I hope you will find a true spring model to show everyone the difference. As long as warm and cool are draped correctly (and colored hair is covered during the draping) it should take care of that problem. I actually had the reverse happen to me. I am a warm spring who was incorrectly analyzed as summer the first time my colors were done. The two seasons do have cross over with the light value which often confuses new analysts testing their wings. Springs not only are warmer but they are also brighter with clear chroma and high intensity for their light value and warm undertones. Summers are soft and muted for their light value and cool undertones. This makes them look rosy and dusty vs the spring who looks tropical like a bird of paradise. People often confuse light value for coolness, ability to tan vs burn and other value issues for undertone issues. I think this may cause the reason why some summers and springs get confused for the other. Value= light, medium, and deep and anything to do with fair, light, tan, burn, etc have to do with surface coloring changes or straight up value of our coloring. They are value words. Undertones are warm, neutral, cool. Only thing associated with that is that. Intensity, chroma etc is brightness, saturation, etc. so words like softness, blended, muted go with this one.
      Spring: warm undertone, light to medium value, clear or bright in chroma or intensity
      Summer: cool undertone, light to medium value, soft or muted intensity or chroma. Hope that helps anyone confused between the two seasons.

    Yes, that makes so much sense. Otherwise as cool winter/summer or warm spring/autumn you are wondering why you can borrow colours from your sister season way better than from the other subseasons. And it broadens the posibilities to really know if you should stay completely in your season or if colours from your sister season look great on you as well.

      Exactly, it doesn't make sense at all ! These 16 subcategories or i've heard even more 20,22 make space for individualising a person appearance in conjunction with a larger range of colours and some people are rarity among colour analysts because nobody can actually "fit" them in just 12 sub categories season!

    It makes a lot of sense. As a winter (never got a sub season typing) I puzzled as I knew I couldn’t wear the brighter pinks and reds. The seasons set out your new way makes a lot more sense and I think I’m a cool winter because of that. With self-draping I realised the really bright pinks make me look over heated, and a bright pink that’s ever so slightly warm makes me look weirdly blotchy and shadowed. Great explanation! I do think that even within the 'true' categorie people can differ. And that each individual is somewhere on the scale of warm/cool - bright/soft - light/dark. I am a true summer but I am on the softest side, and can't handle too light colours very well. So I avoid the brightest from cool summer, and the lightest from light summer ;) I think that could help too. To define how cool, light and soft you are and stay within that range.

      Meaning you're a soft summer that can borrow from true summer and soft autumn,or you're typed a true summer that can't borrow soft autumn very well, but can look good in soft summer colors/shades as well as your true summer palette and better then other summer sub seasons?

    • @tessaspanjersberg8057
      @tessaspanjersberg8057 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@ingridpear1882 I mean that even if you are in a certain categorie, you are still on a scale. Not every soft summer or cool winter is exactly the same. Yes in general they all have the same in common, the softness or coolness. But some people are for example more towards neutral in warmth/coolness, and can wear for example both soft summer and soft autumn very well, even if they are soft summer. Others are more cool and can wear some soft autumn but not all. That depends on the person. I am a true summer, and although I can wear cool summer, light summer and soft summer, not all the colours are equally great. Which is logical because otherwise I would be that subcategory right? Great explanation! Your logic makes a lot of sense; however, I think that the main contributor to the confusion around colour anaylsis as a whole (by not just you but also the multitude of other analysts past and present) is the reuse and recycling of established terminology for newer, more avant garde, definitions.
    Under your original system, I think that original coined terms like "Balanced Summer" or "Balanced Autumn" would be much more intutitve (and, dare I say, less misleading) compared to the reuse of established terms like "True Summer" or "True Autumn."

    Is a true summer treating the two seasons beside it really equal to it's own central slot on the color wheel,or as sub seasons/sister seasons? Are some "trues" really not able to borrow little bits from all the "sisters" to what it equally shares? vs,some true summers only being able to treat the other sub seasons as sister,and maybe borrow a touch from cool summer?
    If someone was a cool summer for example,can they really mostly just borrow from cool winter,but not true summer? Or would they follow that with borrowing true summer,then all the other summers before borrowing from other winter sub seasons? Or is it better for them to borrow the cool season first,then both true summer (the one in-between soft and light without sharing equally assuming your system might have an individual color fan/gradient that isn't just a combination of the three subseasons) and true winter?
    What's next for a cool/temp dominant season to borrow after it's main sister season? vs what direction a true should go after it's season?

      @@sarahryanthestylecoach Love your videos though and love this look today. Where did you train? I'd love to become a colour analyst but I'm not sure where to start!

    This is an awesome way to look at it as I am typed a cool winter and I think you’re right. The muted colors of true summer don’t look as good as when I borrow from the other winters, although they don’t look bad, I am not muted. Well done!

    Thank you!! This finally answers the question for me. I was draped as a winter 30ish years ago before sub seasons existed. I’ve always known I’m cool, bright & deep. Choosing between them has never made sense to me.
    I also have medium to light olive overtone, which eliminates any possibility of crossing over.
    Great video!

    the difference that i noted between 12 season and 16 season system is that cool winter from 16 is not exactly as the same as true winter from 12 seasons (i will talk about winters cause im a winter). in 12 seasons dark winter is the LEAST intense subseason out of winters (since its the only season that borders with soft season), true winter being in the middle (because it doesnt border with summer in that system, so nothing bleeds softness to it), while in 16 seasons dark winter is the second one after bright winter, when it comes to intensity. i never understood why the creator of the 16 season system, whoever that was, would randomly flip softness of dark winter with cool winter and decide that cool winter would be less intense than dark winter, when they both border with soft season now. my thought is - they should at least be equal in intensity. you can have supercool undertone, but that shouldnt automatically mean you're less bright than if you were mostly dark. these are 2 different features.
    so true winter 12 is a bit different palette than cool winter 16. its also different from true winter 16, since in your system u have to wear all subseasons at the same level, while true winter from 12 differs from bright winter and dark winter, which have some warmth to them from sister seasons. its also not as bright as bright winter and not as soft as dark winter. so its like true winter is some entirely different palette.
    that's why i prefer to call myself true winter from 12 seasons. that palette is my favourite.
