LOST ROCKET REDUX Review (EP.11 The 5th Entry)

- Hey fellow surf addicts, today we'll be reviewing the Rocket Redux by Lost Surfboards, mastermind, Matt Biolos. The 5th entry in the brands renown Rocket series, the board is skatey, but still has enough hold to tackle overhead surf. A good one board quiver for home. My advice is go a size up, as it is a little bit more refined than the V3 Rocket and more foam never hurts.
Eg. What I rode: 5'7 28L, Go the 5'8 at 29L
Wave Conditions: 2-5 ft
Fins:
FCS 2 Quad: AM's Large + Accelerator Medium's
FCS 2: Accelerators (Medium)
FCS 2: AM Template (Large) for more hold in bigger surf I reckon.
FCS 2: Carver Quad set

Nice job 👍
Thanks mate, appreciate it 👍
Thanks!
These reviews are helpful.
Awesome to hear mate, glad I can help 👍
What about the board makes it shocking for point breaks? Was looking at one for some of the local points here in California and really appreciate your reviews
For me personally, this board was getting stuck on the local point break I normally surf back home. If you were thinking about purchasing it, I would recommend you ride it as a quad if possible.
i`ve had two lost rockets and did not like to ride them at pointbreaks eather.. felt slow and sticky.
Thanks for the review. How does the rocket redux compare to the rad ripper. Which one was easier to surf in small waves (2-4 ft)
As a quad, this board grovelled amazingly. My friend rode the rad ripper mainly and I had a go on it once. I think the rad ripper is a better option in smaller waves as the Rocket Redux with a thruster setup, wasn’t a great small wave board.
@@jakesboardreviews thanks!
very good review bro
Thanks brother, appreciate the support 👍🙏
Sounds like you bought the board for different purposes, by your review it seems like you were looking more for a groveler for mushy days, other than a performance daily driver shortboard for average to good waves
Hey mate, I purchased this board as I enjoyed riding The V3 Rocket previously, and always wanted to try the Rocket Redux. I felt the board lacked the drive I was looking for, and control. However, I didn’t feel hindered performance wise in steeper sections. Not my favourite board I’ve reviewed so far, but I’d still give it another crack

Legend bro, appreciate it.
How the rr compet the v3?please
Hey mate, the V3 Rocket was a bit better at grovelling in the smaller waves, even as a thruster. The rocket redux, I found struggled when the waves were bigger and onshore, becoming super skatey. I also found the V3 paddled a lot better into waves, but found the rocket redux great in hollow/ head high waves and performed great as a quad in smaller waves. A bit more foam forward under the chest in the V3 Rocket, I liked that one better I reckon for rounder surfing 👍
@@jakesboardreviews thanks
when you say the board was pivoty do you mean its turns were very sharp?
That's correct mate, spot on. The board was super sharp on turns, and seemed to prefer snappy/whippier surfing, as oppose to rounder surfing. It still combined the two well, just wasn't as good as the V3 Rocket in my opinion.
How does this compare to the rad ripper?
The Rad Ripper has a beak nose, with more foam under the chest, making wave catching, a lot easier. The Rocket Redux likes to do a lot more whippy surfing, and is best set up as a quad. Both fun boards, I would say the Rad Rippers much easier to surf though.
