For someone who lives in the EU and can get almost anything from Octomore. I thought maybe it's too overhyped. But it's always cool and fun to see people from the US hit the peat wall. Thanks for a great review!
I understand what you guys are saying with that "its good but you want more" sentiment. This particular bottling is playing on a relatively narrow flavor spectrum. This is also noticeable with Laphroaigs new all ex-bourbon cask Cairdeas release. It's not a knock but just a hint of sherry in the blend can make something that's really good become something truly memorable.
I would love to see a comparison of one of these with the new Ardbeg Hypernova. I have a bottle of the Hypernova but have only had random pours of Octomore and I struggle to remember and do an accurate comparison
It amazes me every time i hear people talk about how sweet and floral these heavily peated whiskeys are. I can never get any of it. All I get is smoke , and band aid , I get nothing else
Dutch, I love you and tend to agree with you, but you will not go back to a 2nd pour of it, but you feel it's worth it's prices? Doesn't seem to match up. Otherwise, keep up the great work guys.
Another great review, but what was up with the score overlays? Dutch's scores didn't show up until the end when Jules score disappeared.
Wow. Big mistake by me on the edit! My score overlays got all messed up, sorry!
Would love to see a "Peat blind" episode, where you do 3 or 4 of these highly rated peat monsters in a blind and see who comes out on top.

When our cycles combine, we are, CURIOSITY PUBLIC!!
Possibility for an octomore drinkthrough?
Who's footing the bar tab for that?!?!

They released a 10 year for the 12 series but it was online only unfortunately
100% you could spend your money wiser, Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength or even Lagavulin 12 CS.
Didn’t you guys do a massive scotch blind tournament. Wanted to look back at it and I don’t see it. Or am I just crazy

Dillon... definitely the bully 😂
Really good stuff

No worries. Hard to explain how I feel about the drinkablity of scotches like this. Maybe just a feeling that one pour is all I need at a time?
It's nice but I think my Octomore 10 year old, peat 208ppm is a touch better.
