In the weeks leading up to the Heaven Encounters conference, led by ‪@RandyKayMinistries‬ I had 2 things converge and served as a catalyst for this song.
I was talking with my Dad on his birthday about my grandmother, who I never met. She passed away before I was born. As he talked about her, and the things I’ve heard before, I found myself missing her…even though I never met her. And one day I will…in heaven.
Secondly, I read Don Piper’s book “90 minutes in heaven,” and the way he described heaven - he was describing a place I’ve always longed for but never realized it.
With that in mind, I heard the melody and lyrics of the first two lines of this song and the song wrote itself from there.
We’re made for more than this life on earth. Jesus has prepared a place for us in heaven. It’s our eternal home.
