I got a fake call on the phone today, and some guy says yeah, you won $5,000 a week forever from PCH, that I was picked, and that I also got a Mercedes benz, and the number is with an 876 area code of Jamaica. I was just like yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, and the guy just gave up, and hanged up on me.
My elderly mother has been getting these calls for over month the caller has an inda Accent, he claimed that he was from publisher clearing house and he needs a money order or check, when I called him out on his scam he became very angry and threatened to tie a noose around my and hang from a tree and yes he had India Accent so I assumed that he is from some where over sees ,we really need to Protect our elderly because some of them are very trusting or they have dementia or Alzheimer's disorder and the scammers like to advantage of the eldery.
I got a phone call last weekish saying it was PCH, they were working with the credit card companies (or words to that effect lol) All I had to do was answer a few short questions about which CC I preferred and I'd be entered for the big drawing that was coming up uh...in like a month I think. The woman spoke near prefect English unlike the other mush mouths you deal with when this type of thing comes up, well either way I said no thanks and hung up. PHC is an American thing right?

Well you have a very sharp mind ,and I hope that I don't offend you by making this next statement but there some elderly people who suffer from dementia or Alzheimer's disease who are easily fooled then there are some younger people who may be mentally challenged and they are also are easy targets .
so the scam was to make you pay the taxes under the table and send it back to them or hang onto it to never get the grand prize? how do they lose money to the scammers? the check would either clear or bounce, either way she'd get to keep it if it cleared with the bank, and if it was ill gotten, how would she have known if the scammers misrepresented themselves? maybe they'd invent a reason later to request them more money to get the rest of the grand prize, and then vanish. theres aspects that never got that far, she has good concerned loved ones stopped it quick enough.
My question is what makes you think its a scam its a sweepstakes and its free to submit your entrees so how is it a scam. Scams ask u to pay money or give credit card information but PCH is free and a sweepstakes that i know people that have won before from them years ago so i know for a fact they're real and not a scam.
Did you actually watch this? The scam is not PCH sweepstakes itself. If you get a letter or phone call from PCH it's fake. PCH always sends prize patrol for big winners. No phone call or letters.
Just got the PCH call. I sort of participated in the call. They told me to go to the post office to pick something up. They wanted to know when I would be back home. They would be here with a check for 1.8 million. They would pay 99% of taxes. They would escort me to the bank. They said they were surprised I was not excited about my prize. I told them I didn't trust that they were real. I was 98% sure they were not. Now, thanks to these testimonies, I know for sure. Now, I'm worried someone will show up at my door!!
I'd rate PCH borderline legit, just enough to squeak by, not harmful, but not exactly as good as your led to believe either, like the sugar-free or real juice labels that substitute an artificial sweetener or just enough real juice to make the claim. I won $50 once & $10 once after years of entering. Once you enter by mail, you're bombarded with endless packets of advertisement for products they sell. I've ordered a few, the quality is good & some are hard to find items. They claim prices are lower than competitors and that's sometimes true, but the catch is very high shipping & handling & payment by check only, no credit cards. They also send repeated letters to keep entering or claiming your prize number or lose it, until after while it gets confusing. I do like their free games & quizzes & there's always the chance, however slim. of winning that gives the feeling it's not a total waste of time.

the biggest pch scam is "no purchase necessary" to win, but they badger you to buy something, especially online. Also the amassing of Millions of Tokens from playng their games as if it's an account but when you attempt to redeem them for merchandise or cash, it becomes another contest drawing.
I get these now - in my spam mail. E.mails telling me, I am a winner. They want directions how to get to my house, etc. Also, they 'need me to complete the prize eligibility form," which of course asks for personal information. Beware, guys!!!

If you have to pay to win a prize then its obviously a scam and why would they call you to tell you you won? I never even gave them my phone number. Obviously they would meet you in person because you would have lots of paper work and legal stuff to deal with.

I'd rate PCH borderline legit, just enough to squeak by, not harmful, but not exactly as good as your led to believe either, like the sugar-free or real juice labels that substitute an artificial sweetener or just enough real juice to make the claim. I won $50 once & $10 once after years of entering. Once you enter by mail, you're bombarded with endless packets of advertisement for products they sell. I've ordered a few, the quality is good & some are hard to find items. They claim prices are lower than competitors and that's sometimes true, but the catch is very high shipping & handling & payment by check only, no credit cards. They also send repeated letters to keep entering or claiming your prize number or lose it, until after while it gets confusing. I do like their free games & quizzes & there's always the chance, however slim. of winning that gives the feeling it's not a total waste of time.

If you ask me, pch is a scam itself. Signed my mother up when I was 10 years old. They just keep sending things and having her send them back for 11 years now. Yes, a sweepstakes that literally has you go back and forth for 10+ years. Ridiculous. I legit just got her to stop participating in this game of theirs just a few months ago.

I just got one of those fake calls. Listened through to a point to see what they'd ask for. Yes, they wanted me to pay taxes ahead. It was so fake. Lots of mumbling. I can see how someone might fall for this, though.
I hadn't received anything from PCH for about 5 years when I received my fake "winner" call. They sure had information on me though. Where do they get it and how do we stop it? Hanging up doesn't end it.......I think we wind up on a list to call to see if we will fall for something else! RED FLAGS: talks fast, other voices in background; told to keep it a secret; asked to buy gift cards; pay in advance; foreign accents; insist that receipt requires registration and more. BEWARE
