How about under nutrition and fueling as a factor in sluggish legs? It seems like sometimes we see all the running numbers but leave out the pre and post fueling for running.
I second this. It seems like Kofuzi has done really well getting below the 3 hr mark for the marathon on his own, but with tailored training and regular coaching feedback could push himself to get even better (if that's what he wants).
This was stupendous. I think it’s both brave and humble to go through something like this with an audience. Thanks to both of you. I wonder how many of us got a vicarious “coached by Sage” vibe from this!❤❤
Have always thought I'd get by / constantly improve with RUclips and self coaching, but this makes me reconsider. Listening to Sage get straight to the heart of the matter based on a few minutes of Strava analysis is impressive. Very interesting to think you could train faster but also probably won't race as fast as you hope. Especially when you primarily use perceived effort. Time will tell how big the gap actually is. Good luck for the half!
Super informative discussion, alot of takeaways for everyones training. Thanks Sage and Ko for the awesome video! Good luck in Houston and Happy Holidays!!
shout out to Sage's training plans! I've bought 2 so far, one for a sub 1:30 half and the other for a BQ full. I successfully completed the sub 1:30 half feeling extremely good all the way through and look forward to the sub 3 plan up next!
It’s great to hear Sage validate that most runners should be running more slowly on their easy days. And Mike, I appreciate how transparent and forthcoming you are with your own training paces to exemplify this. I’ve been very intentional about doing this myself, and coaching other athletes I train to do the same. There are plenty of sub-3 marathoners out there doing their easy runs win the seven+ minute/mile range. To me, it seems they always get injured or plateau. Imagine the improvements they can make by making their easy days truly easy! The both of you are great assets to the running community, and this collaboration was awesome! Thanks!
What a great conversation. So much valuable information being shared and different perspectives on training. Would love to see more of these two together
As an influencer you get people to follow you daily and someone might just copy your workouts without really knowing the WHYs behind a session (me included). Good you did this 👍🏾🎉
seeing a great athlete who’s already accomplished yet willing to improve from hearing advice shows you’re a smart and capable person. I love both the channels .
This was such a cool idea. Maybe I'm biased because I'm training for a half marathon as well, but I found this extremely interesting and helpful. It's a novel format: live coaching session/training chat.
Mike - This was really enjoyable, and it's really insightful to hear these types of discussions for a 100% self taught runner. Would love to get this level of analysis for my running, but the insight that Sage has doesn't come cheap.
I've done full coaching for my first marathon from a well known coach. Not cheap. But, way more inisghtfull. I've learned a lot based on who I am and not based on generic 'do this do that' videos. Do it once and good, and you'll benefit from this for your whole running career. Money well spend
Wow so enjoy this collab!!!!! I tried 3 high running training plan for 5-10k, half marathon and BQ specific marathon one. All of them are solid. And it helps me BQ-ed!!! Besides running, Also love Ko and Sage personality , they are both nice and beautiful person
Great talk and very insightful. SC is one of the best. I followed Daniels half marathon plan over the Houston summer for October and hit sub 1:30 goal. That plan had at least 1 speed each week varying from 400/800/K’s and mile repeats. Good luck in Htown! If the weather is good I think you will hit 1:25.
What a great sharing session from a pro runner, appreciate the session! I guess for general runners just make sure your easy is not too easy and your hard session should be relatively hard continuously to reap the most benefits during the training blocks😀
Like this conversation 👍🏼. Would like for Sage to be a regular guest. Just like the serious runner is always in the livestreams, but only chime in when something “triggers” him. 😂🤣😂😆🤣😂
We are rooting for you Mike Ko! Take his advice and you’ll crack 1:25. You’ve been training smart and hard and so these small changes will help you get there! 🙌🏻
It was interesting how Sage diplomatically warned tweak your plan or it’ll be a 1:25 half. I personally think with a good midweek 15 mi workout you’ll surprise yourself with a great time.
kofuzi the method to your 'madness' is working but I really think with Sage's guidance you'll be fabulous. Such an insightful conversation. particularly liked his perspective on easy running.
Hi Mike, did you say you're coming to Berlin in 2024? That is great news. Love to meet you there. Thanks for sharing all that great content over the years. So much inspiration for me. See you at Brandenburg Gate!
Thanks for the collab! Great chat about your training and goals for 2024 and have fun at the Houston Half!
wondering if just adding in more strides might actually help him to reach his goal time
Always great to spend time with you. Thanks for the tough love!
We need more!
How about under nutrition and fueling as a factor in sluggish legs? It seems like sometimes we see all the running numbers but leave out the pre and post fueling for running.
Wtf? He will 100% go under 1:25. After seeing that training and mileage over 100k month after month, doing 16x400m at 1m25s. Sub 1:20 coming easily.
Would love to see a series with Sage coaching Kofuzi for an entire block! That would be epic. This was great thank you both.
I second this. It seems like Kofuzi has done really well getting below the 3 hr mark for the marathon on his own, but with tailored training and regular coaching feedback could push himself to get even better (if that's what he wants).
I have done several Higher Running Plans before. They are solid.
@@RUN-SC agreed I used a higher running plan to complete my first 50 miler in October!
Really enjoy coaching calls, very educational
I would pay to see this 💰
For me Sage is the OG. Glad to see him overcome a lot of struggles and continuing to succeed.
He is. He pretty much helped create the genre.
@@kofuzi100%
Awesome to see sage in this context - super thoughtful and generous. The og running RUclips 🐐
Such an amazing collaboration VO2 MAX productions and Mike
One of the most interesting videos you've done. Definitely Keep this theme or let Sage coach you over a marathon block and have monthly talks!
Love Sage's training insight. I've actually used his marathon training plans for my last two marathons and they are fantastic!
Sage seems like a great coach. This interview was a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks for listening!
Not Sage being just 27 seconds off on his prediction.... what a great coach and great insights from a true professional
Need a sage kofuzi coaching talk every week, awesome content
This was stupendous. I think it’s both brave and humble to go through something like this with an audience. Thanks to both of you. I wonder how many of us got a vicarious “coached by Sage” vibe from this!❤❤
The time flew by for me. I had a great time doing this
Wow, I just feel like I had a coaching session of my own. Great content!
I've watched this twice already! Lots of great info.
thanks, Misty!
love it! thanks both sage and ko for the epic Ko-llaboration
Thanks for watching!
Wow, that was so enjoyable! Please do that again. With Sage and other coaches too!
Have always thought I'd get by / constantly improve with RUclips and self coaching, but this makes me reconsider. Listening to Sage get straight to the heart of the matter based on a few minutes of Strava analysis is impressive.

Good luck for the half!
2 of the best Running RUclipsrs you can find. Both are so inspirational. What a combo!
michael shouldve done a little coaching in reverse for Sage, primarily "stay away from serious runner guy, he gives off a rosie ruiz vibe."
Beginner here, so much valuable info from both, thank you so much for hosting this particular podcast!!!❤❤
Thanks for tuning in!
So many good insights as I’m in the middle of my marathon training. 🔥 Great collab!
Good luck with your training!
This has so much good run-nerd content! I’m loving the new content
Sage and Sandy have a nice coaching service! I used their BQ All-in-training plan to qualify for Boston.
I am tempted to listen to this now, but this will be my podcast for tomorrow in my Long run. Great collab.
Sage is such a class act. What an educational discussion.
A couple of my favorite runners on the same video, awesome conversation!

Sage was the first running youtuber I ever subscribed to! Love to see two of my favorites discuss training.

I could listen to a coach dissect workouts all day, awesome content, more please
what a collaboration - Christmas came early!!
hope you enjoy!
@@kofuzi loved it. Sage is the wise Jedi Master sharing his knowledge 👍👍
Great video, I love the collaboration. You guys should do another video in the future.
Stay positive on race day! Positive thinking goes a long way! You got this and are totally capable of your goal. 💪
that's alot of courage for getting coached while on screen. Benefitted alot from the conversation and coaching advice in between, thanks!!
glad it was helpful!

Love hearing different schools of thought. 🙏🏽
Outstanding interview! Great advice/insight from Sage throughout 👍🏼
Great collaboration! I found many of the questions I had in mind were discussed here and great to have insights from a pro runner!

Glad you enjoyed it!
Great chat fellas, love this. Still can't wait to chat with you at some point Mike, especially about ultra running!
looking forward to it!
As someone who bought sage's training plan for a 50k, I was looking forward to this. It's brave of you @kofuzi putting yourself up here for critique.
I really enjoyed this more serious type of video. The shoe reviews are fun but I love “nerding out”!!
It’s fun to do
We are rooting for you Mike Ko! Take his advice and you’ll crack 1:25. You’ve been training smart and hard and so these small changes will help you get there! 🙌🏻

Thanks for watching!
This was very insightful! Thank you!
Interesting video. Lots of insights. Great concept.
This is awesome. Cool to watch. Great stuff
enjoyable training talk. I predict one of these gents in the near future will do Hardrock 100, and the other will pace him.
I loved this video. Really cool collab.
This was awesome! What I got from this: I should probably talk to a coach because I'm doing everything wrong. 😂
🤣
kofuzi the method to your 'madness' is working but I really think with Sage's guidance you'll be fabulous. Such an insightful conversation. particularly liked his perspective on easy running.
Great hearing Sage on a kofuzi episode re half marathon. I have a half marathon 18 Feb 2024. I have got up to 10 mile distance before Xmas.
good luck for your race!
Great questions! Lots of good information!
Great video, Kofuzi and Sage! Would love to see this become some sort of series. I got ya at 1:24:30 in Houston for an easy PR :D
KO holding his ground on his 6X6, they are here to stay lol
