This is almost incredible! I believe that's my sister and I in front of the boats with me pointing at approx. 2:31. Think about it....Someone who was there at the park the same day takes a home movie, posts it on the net 50+ years later, and then a person who was there on the same day sees himself in the film....I mean, what are the odds? Unbelievable! Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for posting that video. Some of the happiest childhood memories I have are right there at that old amusement park. My sister and I would ride our bikes from Rose Haven to the park about every day to ride the rides and swim. This brings back so many fond memories. I cannot thank you enough.
Great memories when I was a kid sooo many years ago. It has been 60+ years ago and I still remember all the fun I had there with my parents and the cook outs we had in the picnic area. As a child, that swimming pool was just huge! Thank you so much for this, makes me sad that those wonderful days will never be repeated again.
@@dianeharrison3118 I wish it was there now. I cut my chin on the pool from the 2nd diving board. That was about 1956. I still have it. Mom said are you okay yep that was it. They wanted me to go to the HP.. NOT ME. Lol
we used to ride our bikes inside the abandoned buildings in the late 70's early 80's before they built the ugly townhomes, its interesting to see the buildings with people and the pool filled with water
Thanks for your comments. I am glad you enjoyed the video showing the park when it was so full of life. Sadly, I wish you could have also heard the sounds of laughter and childrens' joy, especially in the pool.
Thank You VERY MUCH for posting......I LOVED BEING THERE! My Dad would drop my Brother & I off, almost every work day, on his way to work in the summer, and pick us up on his way home.....We stayed all day riding the rides, having picnics and swimming...That was an AWESOME pool! I would love to stay and see the water ballets shows......I have so many GREAT memories from North Beach and Chesapeake Beach! Anyone have any film from Uncle Billies Pier? Geeezzzz ....All that music and dancing on the pier...Great Times!
I lived 2 doors down from the Bath Houses that were just north of Uncle Billies Pier. It was a great place to live at the time. I graduated Calvert Senior High School in 1973. Check this out on Facebook: facebook.com/groups/221059554 A friend of my brother's, Wesley Hoke, has posted some pictures on the above site from back in the day, of Uncle Billies and the Reef Restaurant on the pier in North Beach. His father owned the place. I guess you have to be invited to that facebook group. I'm a member, I can request to add you if you want. Just LMK and I will.
My Dad had 2 uncles that had cottages on the water at the end of 15th st, , George Johnson & Ozzy Henderson! & he spent many summers there through the 50's !!!
Carrousels and their Wurlitzer's The carousel is located at Watkins Regional Park in Prince George’s County, Maryland. I don’t know about the Wurlitzer.
The beautiful and historic carousel was moved to Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlboro, Prince Georges County, MD where it is lovingly cared for and still bringing joy to all who ride it! Thanks for your comment.
This video is terrific and the memories it brought back. I.loved the carousel but I don't remember the music being so monotonous, ah youth. Yes P Jones the Indian was Billy Gee. See Calvert County old photos on FB for a better pic. The beach was horrible because you walked forever and it might get to your knees and the bottom was squishy black mud. The video covered so much of the Park. Thank you!

Jim Flint Not related to Tom. My connection is that my grandfather was one of the owners of the park.
Thanks for posting. Billy Dale, the clown, was my mother's uncle. I can't wait to show my mother this video.

Tune Name is "Au Revoir, But Not Goodbye, Soldier Boy"
Thank you. Never knew the name of that song. There were many tunes that played and the sound of the organ music wafted through the community.
@@dianeharrison3118 found it in the 165 catalog online off of 6538

Thanks for sharing your memories!
My Aunt said Harold & Mildred lived up the street from them on 15th st!!
To recall happy memories was the very reason I made the video. Thank you, Frankie, for sharing yours!
Did they have a wurlitzer 165 or a wurlitzer 153 ?
Love it! Many, many fond memories!!! Joanie Kilmon
It was a Wurlitzer 165.
What happened to it
Carrousels and their Wurlitzer's The carousel is located at Watkins Regional Park in Prince George’s County, Maryland. I don’t know about the Wurlitzer.
Been trying to remember who played the Indian Chief there and I think his name was Billy Gee.
I'm not sure about the Indian Chief, but Billy Dale was the juggling clown. Billy Dale was my mother's uncle.
My father, George T Gale, used to make there when I was a child. Whatever happened to the beautiful carousel? They were beautifully carved.
