Sincere thanks for your much-appreciated, and humbling appreciation, sir.♪
Though born in the '70s, I truly got the pill (more or less) 10 years ago.
Before that my knowledge of Steely Dan music was basically reserved for;
*Rikki Don't Lose That Number + Do It Again + Reeling In The Years*♪
-------------------------------------------------------------
When I was (lately?) introduced to the world of the internet in 2010 with FB and Email...,
I don't know exactly when and how, but I stumbled upon a RUclips thumbnail (i guess?)
for the album *Two Against Nature*, and I said to myself * Hmmm. Steely Dan, Ok don't know much of them,
but heard great things about their musical credibility, and why not, let's check that out* ♪
So this was my epiphany moment where it all started,
I was flabbergasted and dazzled by the sound quality of the recordings
and the masterful musical composition craftmanship.♪
-------------------------------------------------------------
Funny story of my journey in here;
fact, when I started (Sept 20th, 2019) publishing my two first tutorials *Glamour Profession* + * Gaucho*
I didn't even know from which album it was from (Lol..) ♪
It's more at the end of *Gaucho's* tutorial process that I asked myself,
heck! from which album is that? (I said Oh... same thing/name (Lol..!))
It's from there I started showing the album covers in the intros.♪
As ridiculous as some would think (just never thought about it at first),
I always proceeded one by one, meaning (believe it or not) within so many
choices, I (instinctively?) decided to undergo doing *Haitian Divorce*, as my third lesson,
only to discover again, at the end of my process, that it was from *Gaucho's* album.♪
Then for my fourth tutorial *Babylon Sisters* (don't ask me why?),
I said this one I know it's from the album AJA, (and as you can see in the intro) and
didn't even bother to verify from which album it was because I was convinced I knew♪
Then got corrected (somewhere in the comment section?) by a SEBscirber of this grotesque mistake,
to then discover that this one too, was from *Gaucho's* album.♪
So then I said (should have definitely thought about sooner (lol..!)),
OK let's go check out and see what are ALL the songs of the *Gaucho's* album.
To discover *Hey Nineteen*, (and said to me, hmmm...I think I heard this one before) +
* Third World Man* + *Time Out Of Mind* and *My Rival (love that song)*
(But to my ultimate surprise, I said WHAT... *Glamour Profession*, too (Lol..!)) ♪
I said OMG all these songs from this album are soooo... good and didn't take long
I had the inspiration to undergo completing all *of Gaucho's* album songs.♪
And from this (late) discovery, I went to check and listen out to all their album's content
in detail,/technically all 92 songs of their 9 albums, to then have my official second pill.
There was at first listening to at least 80 songs I completely fell in love with
and wanted to learn and produce them ALL.♪
--------------------------------------------------
So (indeed tough to choose) to answer your question,
I have tendencies to appreciate their later stuff/last five albums
(maybe not *Everything Must Go*, even though the songs I like in it are so amazing), and I would include
*The Nightfly* in it, has technically (IMO) the same ingredients, team, SD feeling, and expertise.♪

#2 - Aja
#3 - Two Against Nature
#4 - The Royal Scam
#5 - Katy Lied
#6 - Countdown To Ecstasy
#7 - Pretzel Logic
#8 - Can't Buy A Thrill

And now for the songs (Oufff...isn't fair for the order, anything in these ten, are #1's !);
#0 - I Got The News
#1 - Time Out Of Mind
#2 - Aja
#3 - My Rival
#4 - Everything Must Go
#5 - Doctor Wu

#8 - Maxine

patterns within the first 4 frets. The magical G scale sustained open string technique,
obviously, by default of CAGED, open string patterns are demystifying the PENTATONIC within them. Some have asked me why I exercise in Bb?
Because coming from this clever (late) man Roger Pelletier, that had to do everything in handwriting, my theory is that most probably he noticed that the area on the guitar neck where Bb exercises are executed fits quite naturally space in our fingers without having to spread them too much around and more centered. I think another clever thing is that, with 2 octaves (within the staff with the treble key), you only have to add one line over and one underneath it.
