I'm a student at UWS & just received the feedback and grade for my undergraduate dissertation. I just want to say thanks. I've never been an A student so I'm really happy with the result (2/1). As a former radio professional, it is one thing to create content, but quite another to land the content and these videos hit the mark in slickness & delivery. Dr Kriukow delivers in spades. I was looking for videos which provided clear, concise worked examples of the elements essential to my thematic analysis (Nationalism in my case but the same principles will apply elsewhere). The reason I know these tutorials contributed massively to my grade is because of the feedback which praised the clarity, thought process, explanation of the data and the layout of my thematic analysis. Invaluable. I'm 100% certain that my grade would have been so much worse without these tutorials. It is in no way a substitution to coursework or a shortcut to success but I'm certain these tips will turbocharge any submission ✌️

Thank you for such an informative and easy-follow video on thematic analysis. I have learned a lot from your videos. I do have a question about the development of a model of the results. In my mind, the development of a model should illustrate the logical relationships between the developed themes and interpret how the relationship has been developed. I am not sure whether I am right about this. Should I find evidence from the qualitative data that underpins their relationship or I can just establish them based on my own interpretation? Thanks for your time. It would be great to hear from you.

    • @qualitativeresearcher

This would be based on your interpreation because remember, to talk about relationshps in qual research is generally tricky. Thus, you can talk about something that indicates some links but be very careful about actually making claims about strong relationships

Thank you very much, I appreciate this helpful video. Do you have an example of a study that used the qualitative method by conducting interviews for the purpose of getting new concepts/constructs and integrate them with the established theoretical framework (study constructs) before doing the survey questionnaire? Many thanks!

    Dear Dr.Kriukow,
    Hi,
    You are amazing....
Many thanks for your great explanations and clarifications in the realms of qualitative analysis. I learned many things from you. Would you please be kind enough to explain about how to write discussion? And what should we do exactely step by step in order to have a perfect discussion part?
    Kindest regards,
Fatemeh an MA candidate from Iram

      Thank you so much Dr.💎
Actually I am doing a narrative inquiry research and my data analysis is a thematic design. So, I don't know how to write the discussion part. Should I talk just about the core themes or also the subthemes in regard to the literature? I would be thankful if you explain in details.
Waiting for your great vedio in the realms of discussion like always.
      All the Best,⚘
      Fatemeh

Hello, how do we report interviews in native language, do we need to translate them into English especially when publishing in a journal, in the results section. Do we indicate the translated English and include in parenthesis the actual words in native language?

Dr. Kriukow, my thesis investgtated factors affecting learning. I have classified them into three main categories: psychological, contextual; and linguistic. I have a round 14 factors. when I list them in the thesis, is there a specific approach to do this. i.e. starting with the most reported! what other approaches can I use to write up the results section?

    • @qualitativeresearcher
      @qualitativeresearcher  Год назад

Yes, I usually organize them from the most to the least reported, when it comes to sub-themes within themes. The themes themselves, I organize them in a way in which I want to discuss them so that there is a nice and clear narrative to my findings

Thank you Dr. Kriukow. Very informative and I read your published paper after this video to see me more on how you and the other authors went about structuring and presenting your findings. I work freelance in the private sector and while I prepare reports for clients, i have not gone through the traditional publishing track. I am curious for practical purposes - to what extent is the visual layout created by your team vs the publisher? Does the publisher recreate your thematic analysis diagrams to fit into the visual design? Is your report prepared and sent in the two column format, or is that a process handled predominantly by the publisher? Would love some quick insight, or if fortunate enough, a video on that behind the scenes process. Thank you again for your value-added content!

thank you for reaching out and for the positive feedback. Just to answer briefly - apart from stating the requirements, the publisher never does any work for you. All visual representations were created by me manually

@@qualitativeresearcher Thank you for such a quick response Dr. Kriukow! I know the topic is ancillary to the Research focus of your channel, but the visual design and presentation of our research findings has always been an interest of mine, i.e., beyond text vs table vs model, but rather with considerations to typography, paragraph layout, structural composition, color, and more.
Because we present to real people, I can't help but consider first impressions and subsequent biases that occur toward our reports. If the surface level presentation looks amateurish, it may cloud judgement on what is otherwise incredibly sound and informative research.
If you've considered this in your work as well, and have developed visual design or work with designers to lay your research out, I would love to hear you talk more about it in a future video!
